Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Wenjuan was sentenced to four years in prison for talking to people about Falun Gong. Recently, her family visited Ms. Song at Harbin Women's Prison, where she was on a hunger strike. She appeared frail and had to depend on others' support in order to stand.

On December 28th, 2010, Ms. Song was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong in Handian, Wuchang, where she was arrested by police and detained at Yaziquan in Harbin City. Wuchang People's Court sentenced Ms. Song in secret to four years in prison, without giving any notice to her family.

Ms. Song refused to sign the verdict. The court then harassed her family members several times over the phone, asking them to sign for Ms. Song.

Ms. Song was transferred to the Harbin Women's Prison on May 11th, 2011. It was after that that her family received a notice from the prison authorities and was informed that Ms. Song was sentenced. They traveled to Yaziquan Women's Prison to request a visit of Ms. Song. However, the visit was denied because Ms Song has refused to give up her faith.

Ms. Song's family eventually saw her on August 25th. She had to rely on the support of two inmates in order to walk. Ms. Song's facial expression appeared frail and numb, as if she had lost all of her vitality. On September 23rd, Ms. Song's family members met her again. Ms. Song was still supported by two inmates. She looked frail and without any strength. The guard stood beside her and listened to all her conversations with her family. The guard told Ms. Song's family members that Song had been undergoing a long-term hunger strike and refused to speak.

Currently, Ms. Song is imprisoned in the Ninth Prison District of Harbin Women's Prison
