Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Suzhen was in a brainwashing centre several years ago, where she nearly died due to the persecution she underwent. She was able to regain her health again thereafter because she practises Falun Gong. Arrested again recently, her current whereabouts are unknown to her family. The last time her family heard any news about her was when the police told them they found her vomiting and unable to tend to her own needs.

Ms. Li Suzhen is retired from the Wuhan Cotton Gauze Factory. On September 22nd, 2011, at 5 p.m. when she and two other practitioners, Ms. Liu Yuejing and Ms. Leng Yongrong, were reading Falun Gong books together, the Party secretary of the Tianyihoujie Community on Minyi Street in the Jianghan District of Wuhan City and others went into Ms. Li's home. They asked the three elderly practitioners to come with them to the community office. Suspicious, they refused to follow along, and Ms. Li called a member of her family to come home help her. Her family came home immediately and asked the Party secretary why he was taking the three women. “They haven't done anything wrong or illegal. Why do you want to take them with you?” The secretary and his people were then asked to leave the house. Everyone left Ms. Li's home, but a few remained outside to watch the practitioners from across the street.

On their way home, Ms. Liu and Ms. Leng were arrested by those who had been watching outside. At around 8 p.m. that night, when no one else in the family was there, the police went to Ms. Li's home and took her away. Her family has not heard from her since.

The next day, when Ms. Li's family went to the community office to ask for her, the office staff there claimed that they did not know anything. Three days later, the community office called Ms. Li's family, asking them to send Ms. Li some clean clothes and a letter telling her how much they missed her and wished she could come home.

On September 27th, when Ms. Li's family went to the community office to ask for her once again, the staff gave them some of her dirty laundry and told them that she was exhibiting signs of ill health and was vomiting. Her family was shocked and worried to hear of Ms. Li's poor health. They indignantly told the staff that they would be held responsible for the consequences.

Ms. Li had suffered multiple illnesses before she started practising Falun Gong in 1994. She participated in a Falun Gong session taught by Teacher Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, in person in Zhengzhou. Afterward, she experienced good health until she was persecuted by a local brainwashing centre in 2007.

In 2007, Ms, Li was arrested and sent to a brainwashing centre in the Qiaokou District because she was distributing Falun Gong flyers. The brainwashing staff poisoned her food and she began to throw up blood thereafter. Her bloody vomit emitted such a repugnant odour that the brainwashing staff couldn't tolerate it, so they released her. She frequently threw up medicinal-smelling vomit after eating, and her health continued to decline. On June 8th, 2009, she threw up a great amount of blood and had spasms. She lost consciousness seven times within the next five hours. Her family members did not stop reciting with all their heart, “Falun Gong is good” and “Truth-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” which helped Ms. Li overcome her discomfort. Since recovering from this incident, Ms. Li's health has remained good.
