The Haicheng Court in Liaoning Province put Mr. Tian Baowei on trial on August 26th, 2011. His family hired an attorney to plead not guilty for him. During the proceedings, Mr. Tian described the tortures he suffered.

On April 2nd, 2011, Mr. Tian was distributing Falun Gong materials in Dagan Village, Gengzhuang Town, Haicheng, when villagers Hu Xingquan and Hu Shijing reported him to the police. Officers from the Gengzhuang Town Police Station arrested him. In the police station, they punched and kicked him, resulting in a long wound on his leg. The scar is still clearly visible. The police grabbed his hair and pushed his head against the wall, pulling out handfuls of his hair. After being tortured for 12 hours, Mr. Tian was taken to Haicheng Detention Centre.

Agents from Haicheng and Anshan Domestic Security, and the personnel from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) have removed Mr. Tian Baowei from the detention center for interrogation four times since April 8th, 2011. Each time, they first beat him until he passed out, then poured cold water on him to wake him up, stripped his clothes off, and then shocked him all over his body, including his private parts, with electric batons. They opened the windows and door. In April, it is still very cold in north China. Mr. Tian was kept in the freezing cold room for two days and nights. He was frozen and fell unconscious. He was deprived of sleep for four days. They put a steel helmet on him and struck it repeatedly. They didn't allow him to eat, drink, or use the toilet.

Officers from the Haicheng Domestic Security Division also Tortured Other Practitioners

Before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the police arrested practitioners all over China. At that time, Mr. Ji Changchun from Niuzhuang, Haicheng, was also brutally tortured and interrogated. The police shocked him with six electric batons at the same time. They tied him to a steel chair for five days and nights, and knocked him down to the ground and poured cold water on him. In the detention centre, other detainees were also encouraged to beat him. Three years have passed. His health has never recovered. He is still weak and unable work to support his family.

Mr. Han Dongying was also tortured for five days. He limped as a result of torture. Mr. Cheng Lixue and his wife, Ms. Yang Xiujie, still shiver when recalling the torture they suffered. The guards burned Ms. Yang's breast with cigarettes, and she still bears the scars. Mr. Cheng said he almost died.

Gao Hongyan and Yang Song are among those who persecute Falun Gong practitioners. They have ransacked practitioners' homes and tortured them. Recently, Gao Hongyan harassed Mr. Han Dongying and tried to bribe him with 20,000 yuan1 to get information on other practitioners, but Mr. Han refused to cooperate. Li Haihua has been participating the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners since 1999. He was chief of domestic security division before 2008.
