The so-called “educators” employ a variety of brainwashing tactics in an attempt to force practitioners to write guarantee statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. Practitioners who resist are verbally abused and threatened with forced labour and job loss, and their family members are also threatened with losing their jobs. Practitioners who do not succumb to brainwashing have been taken to forced labour camps or detention centres, where they were subjected to torture.

Mr. Zhang's health became worse and worse. He lost control of his bladder and bowels.
