Officers led by Liu Zhenting from Kalaqin Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Guichun (who has been living away from home) on the evening of December 7th. They took her from Liaoning Province back to Chifeng City and held her in the Jinshan Detention Centre in Kalaqin Banner. Ms. Zhao has been on a protest hunger strike and her life is in danger.
Detention centre officials have refused to release Ms. Zhao, nor will they allow her family to visit her. However, since they are afraid of being held accountable should she die as a result of her hunger strike, they called Ms. Zhao's older sister, who lives in Liaoning Province, and told her to call Ms. Zhao to try to persuade her to eat. It was the first time that Ms. Zhao's family had heard of her situation.
On December 26th, Ms. Zhao's three sisters went to Jinshan to demand her release. Liu Zhenting and other officials refused to release her. Ms. Zhao's sisters stayed in Jinshan for three days and expected Ms. Zhao to return home safely.
We ask that people inside and outside of China please help urge the Chifeng police to immediately release Ms. Zhao Guichun!
