  • Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners in Shandong Province Prison Results in Death, Disability, and Mental Disorder

    Guards and incarcerated criminals employ all kinds of brutal means to torture practitioners in Shandong Province Prison. A group of criminals beat Mr. Qian Dongcai to death in 2006 under instigation from the prison guards. Prison head Li Wei, however, falsely claimed that Mr. Qian jumped to his death. Mr. Wang Xinbo was transferred to a police hospital in 2006 to treat injuries resulted from torture, and no one heard anything about him for months. It was later learned that he died as a result of these injuries. Mr. Lu Zhen once an excellent college student, was confined in a small cell in mid-May 2009 and given only one small steamed bun daily. He died on June 21st, 2009.
  • Ms. Wang Xuemei, 46, Dies in Custody

    Police arrested Ms. Wang Xuemei on November 6th, 2009. More than 30 practitioners have been arrested here since November 2009. Practitioners were violently beaten in a detention centre, and only given two steamed buns and two bowls of broth with a few dirty vegetable leaves in it per day. Many practitioners developed health problems. Two court trials were held on March 9th and 10th, 2010, where 18 practitioners were sentenced to prison terms varying between 1 and 7 years. Ms. Wang appeared very ill, and requested medical parole. Her family only saw her briefly in court, and were denied any visitation rights or contact with her prior to the trial. The next time Ms. Wang's family saw her was when they went to see her body in the detention centre after she died on May 21st, 2010.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Zhu Jianpeng from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, Died after Repeated Imprisonments over 11 Years

    In July 2008, Mr. Zhu Jianpeng was arrested and taken to a detention centre because he distributed materials containing facts about Falun Gong. After being subjected to brutal beatings, Mr. Zhu showed symptoms of tuberculosis The guards transferred him to the No. 3 Forced Labour Camp in Guangzhou, where he was extensively tortured. In hospital he was injected with unknown drugs instead of getting medical treatment. Mr. Zhu died on April 9th, 2010.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Liang Ying from Chicheng County, Hebei Province, Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Ying passed away on May 14th, 2010, after enduring over 10 years of persecution. Ms. Liang was subsequently arrested and detained three additional times between 2006 and 2010. Her health continued to worsen due to the mental and physical torture endured throughout the persecution. The illnesses she acquired while imprisoned, including heart disease, asthma, and recurrence of kidney disease, became more severe, and she died from a heart attack on May 14th.
  • Elderly Mr. Zhang Zhiquan Dies after Six Years of Imprisonment

    Seventy-six-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhiquan was arrested at his home by police in March 2001, then sentenced to prison for seven years. Mr. Zhang was detained in Hebei Province Fourth Prison. Prison guards ordered two prisoners to torture him. They did not allow him to do any thing freely, they beat and cursed at him, spat on his face, banged on his metal bed to deafen him with the noise, deprived him of sleep, physically tortured him and continually threatened him. They tried to force Mr. Zhang to give up Falun Gong, but when he refused, they viciously slapped him. He was released on medical parole in March 2007. Mr. Zhang could not recover either mentally or physically. He died on May 1st, 2010.
  • Mr. Wang Bin Dies as a Result of Persecution in Hebi City, Henan Province

    Police officers broke into Mr. Wang Bin's home at around noon on May 20th, 2010, ransacked his home and arrested him and confiscated many personal items. Mr. Wang fell from the fourth floor on May 20th while in police custody. The fall left him unconscious, with serious injuries to the head, lungs, kidney, ribs, and legs. He passed away on May 21st. The police officers also interrogated all of Mr. Wang's family members and other individuals that went to his house or the mortuary to pay their respects. This was Mr. Wang's fourth arrest since the start of the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese communist regime in 1999.
  • More Information on Mr. Wang Dianren, Who Died from Torture in Siping Prison, Jilin Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Dianren, fifty years old at the time of his death, was a bricklayer at the Tonghua City Construction Company. Mr. Wang was arrested by Tonghua City police officers and brutally tortured with beatings and electric shocks. He was also exposed to freezing temperatures which left him with frostbite, and scalding temperatures which burned his body. He was sentenced to three and a half years at Siping Prison (in Siping City) in 2005 and died from torture after only six days. At least four practitioners have been persecuted to death and dozens of practitioners have been subjected to various kinds of torture in Siping Prison over the past few years.
  • Father Persecuted to Death, Son Imprisoned

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Wensheng was detained at the Changle Forced Labour Camp for three years, because he went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong in October 2000. Although Mr. Li was released in 2004, he could not stay in his home due to brutal harassment from the police. Mr. Li was again arrested by police last May and held at the Zhucheng Detention Centre for almost one year. He was secretly sentenced last month, then taken to Jinan Prison and subjected to further persecution. Mr. Li's father, Mr. Li Hai, also practised Falun Gong and died as a result of persecution in 2002.
  • The Relentless Abuse that Led to the Death of Mr. He Xuezhao

    Mr. He Xuezhao died as a result of torture on January 13th, 2006. He had suffered from six years of imprisonment, mistreatment, and torture. He was subjected to numerous arrests and deprivation of freedom in police custody. In Xinkaipu Forced Labour Camp he was severely tortured. The guards used different methods to torture him including the "stretching bed" method and putting him in a helmet, straitjacket and handcuffs. In Binzhou City Detention Centre guards whipped him and forcefully stomped on his stomach. When he became unconscious, the guards poured cold water on him to wake him up and then continued torturing him.
  • Mr. Xu Zhiming, 67, Dies as Result of Poisonous Drug Administration While in Detention

    Mr. Xu Zhiming did many good deeds for local people after he began cultivating Falun Gong, so people called him "big nice man." Because he firmly held to his faith, local police arrested him five times, which resulted in his detainment at Weiningying and Beitai Forced Labour Camps in Benxi City. He was subjected to brainwashing multiple times during detention via inhuman methods of torture. Mr. Xu died on May 19th, 2010, after long-term persecution.
  • Her Husband Tortured to Death, Her Daughter in Prison, Ms. Yao Caiwei Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Yao Caiwei's husband, Mr. Zhang Tao, was tortured to death in custody at the end of 2002. Her 22 year-old daughter Ms. Zhang Jianhui was detained, her face beaten until she was disfigured, and then sentenced to ten years of imprisonment. Ms. Yao appeared to be a paraplegic. Her limbs were numb, she could not speak clearly, she had blurry vision, and she had difficulty taking care of herself. She died on May 18th, 2010.
  • Three Practitioners in Hebei and Liaoning Provinces Persecuted to Death

    Mr. Yang Jixian, 58, was forced to go to the village government office, where he was detained and brainwashed for two months after the persecution started on July 20th, 1999. In October 2001, Mr. Yang was taken against his will to Liyuzhuang and persecuted for two months. They tortured him brutally, beating him with a rubber baton, hitting him with a wooden board embedded with nails, forcing him to stand military style and do push-ups--all in order to try to force him to give up his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. In 2007, Mr. Yang was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. He was released in 2008, after which police continued to harass him. On January 3rd, 2009, Mr. Yang passed away.
  • Mr. Tian Yun Dies in Custody in Henan Province

    According to a reliable source, Mr. Tian Yun, 46, has died while detained in the Zhengzhou Prison in Xinmi City, Henan Province. On March 27th, 2009, he was talking to people in public about Falun Gong and was arrested by the police. The Hui County Court sentenced him to three years of imprisonment and detained him in the Zhengzhou Prison, where he endured beatings, electric baton shocks, and deprivation of water. The guards tried to force him to write things to betray Falun Gong and its founder, but he did not give in. He has died as a result of the torture he'd endured, although the exact date of his death is currently unknown.
  • The Tragic Death of 66-Year-Old Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhang Zhiyun

    Ms. Zhang Zhiyun was 66 years old in late April 2009. She had been very healthy. In order to attend her daughter's graduation ceremony abroad, she went to her local police station to apply for a passport. The person in charge of the 610 Office denied her application, stating that she was not a legal citizen. Ms. Zhang disputed this false notion, and the office personnel made her a cup of tea, which she drank. Soon after her visit to the 610 Office, she started vomiting blood. She soon died under suspicious circumstances.
  • Practitioner Xu Dawei Dies at Age 36 as a Result of Persecution; Sympathisers Investigated, Attorney Pressured

    Mr. Xu Dawei was sentenced to eight years in prison for refusing to give up his practice of Falun Gong. In prison, he was subjected to several methods of torture, including extended periods of handcuffing and shackling, savage beatings, hanging by the arms, force-feeding, being whipped with rubber tubes, being punctured with needles, and electric shock treatment. Mr. Xu died at the age of 36 on February 16th, 2009, merely 13 days after his release. In March 2010, 376 villagers from five villages jointly filed an appeal to the government on behalf of Mr. Xu. Mr. Xu's family hired an attorney to represent them, but the attorney was pressured by the Law Enforcement Bureau.
