  • Mr. He Changlong from Yongji County, Jilin Province Arrested and His Home Ransacked

    On the afternoon of July 7th, 2008, Mr. He Changlong was arrested at his home by police. They also ransacked his home. His son, who had just graduated from high school, was also arrested. Mr. He and his son were both detained at the police bureau for nearly 10 hours. Police officers ransacked his home and confiscated a satellite dish, antenna, and two bottles of ink. Because he was purposefully looking for more "evidence" so that they could press heavier charges against him, Wang Shixiang claimed that the ink, which is used for writing Chinese calligraphy, was used for a printer. His 20-year-old son, also a high school graduate, and a senior over 80-years-old are alone now and having a difficult time.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Guang'an City, Sichuan Province

    As the Olympics approaches, the Guang'an government has been harassing, arresting and persecuting Falun Gong practitioners under orders laid out in secret documents by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). During the last three months, dozens of practitioners in various counties and townships of Guang'an City have been arrested, the oldest being over 80 years old. Some of these practitioners were sent to forced labour camps to be tortured without trial.
  • Jilin City Authorities Conduct Arrests in the Name of Protecting the Olympics

    To prepare for the Olympic Torch arriving in Jilin City on July 15th, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities started massive arrests of people two months prior. People targeted for arrest included dissenters who criticized the CCP's corruption, those who protested their homes being demolished by the authorities without permission, laid-off workers, and people of spiritual conviction, including Falun Gong practitioners. In a span of two months, Jilin City 610 Office agents arrested more than 100 Falun Gong practitioners.
  • Police from Shijiazhuang City Arrest More Than 20 Falun Gong Practitioners

    On July 4th, the Shijiazhuang City Police started to arrest Falun Gong practitioners throughout the whole city. All the practitioners who were on the police department's list were arrested, sentenced, and imprisoned immediately, whether or not the police found any "evidence" when searching their homes. Dr. Li Huiyun, who lived in Shijiazhuang City, was arrested on the morning of July 4th by Nanchang Street Police Station officers. The police broke into his home and confiscated one laptop, one desktop computer, and other personal belongings.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Yang Xiaofeng and Qi Wenbin Tortured in Suihua Forced Labour Camp

    On May 27th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Xiaofeng was transferred from Huanan County Detention Centre to Suihua Forced Labour Camp. Camp guards tried to force him to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. After he refused, the guards tied him up on a bed, hit him in the chest, taped his mouth shut, and plugged his nose with 4 lit cigarettes, causing him to inhale the smoke. They burned through a whole pack of cigarettes using this torture method. They also used the cigarettes to burn Mr. Yang's fingernails. Later that evening, Mr. Yang coughed up a piece of cigarette. Later Mr. Yang was badly beaten.
  • Additional Information about the Arrests of Ms. Yao Haixia, Mr. Han Shuxian, and Ms. Hu Yanxia in Shijiazhuang City

    On July 4th, several police officers broke into the home of Ms. Yao Haixia, a Falun Gong practitioner in Shijiazhuang, and arrested her. They ransacked her home and took away two notebooks and two computers. Ms. Yao Haixia, over 30 years old, has been harassed and persecuted several times since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. Whenever there was a so-called sensitive day, officers from the local police station and staff members from the neighbourhood committee would call her or go to her home to harass her. This was immensely stressful for her husband, who is not a practitioner. In 2001, Yao Haixia was arrested and held in a detention centre in Inner Mongolia. She was released after the police extorted a great deal of money from her family.
  • A Practitioner Severely Beaten, Forced to Promise Not to Go out of Town Without Permission and Not to Assembly Before And During Olympics

    On July 9th, 2008, police arrested Ms. Qi Chengrong at work. In detention police beat her. Ms. Qi Chengrong told them that beating people is a violation of the law. "Beating you does not violate the law," replied one policeman. One captain told everyone, "Beat her buttocks." Then several thugs started hitting her with all their might. To prevent her from screaming out in pain, they stepped on her throat with the soles of their shoes. She was also forced to write the so-called "guarantee statement," which read, "Before and during the Olympic Games, I will not go out without permission or engage in any unlawful assembly."
  • Mr. Cao Guozhen Sentenced to Eight Years of Prison at Junan County, Shandong Province

    On October 12th, 2007, police officers entered 36-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Guozhen's home, confiscated personal property including a TV, DVD player, laptop, and Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and arrested Mr. Cao. Mr. Cao's family visited the Junan County Police Department many times asking for permission to visit him. They also asked for his unconditional release but without any results. In June 2008, the family of Mr. Cao Guozhen received a notice saying that he had been sentenced to eight years in prison by the Junan County Court.
  • Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Guard Strangled and Beat Mr. Xu Shanglong into Unconsciousness

    Mr. Xu Shanglong, 35, was incarcerated in the No. 8 Division of the No. 2 Men's Institute in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. On June 20th, 2008, when the inmates in the No. 8 Division went out for labour, Mr. Xu was unable to join them because he was bedridden with a high fever. This angered guard Tang and he verbally abused Mr. Xu. Mr. Xu tried to explain, "I would appreciate if you would stop the verbal abuse and refrain from humiliating others." Tang hit Xu Shanglong with both hands. This did not appease his anger, so he tried to strangle Mr. Xu, and at the same time kicked him in the groin. Mr. Xu was severely injured and lost consciousness.
  • Eight Falun Gong Practitioners from Tangshan City Arrested, Including Ms. Zhang Yueqin

    On July 10th, 2008, Tangshan City officials arrested eight Falun Gong practitioners. At 10:00 a.m. many police cars arrived at the home of Ms. Zhang Yueqin. The police tried to pry open the lock on her residence but were unsuccessful. Later they sent two fire-engine ladder trucks and climbed up and broke into the south and north windows of Ms. Zhang's sixth floor home. They barged in through the windows and seized Zhang Yueqin and her husband, and Luo Zhijian's sister, as well as two other practitioners and Ms. Liu Suying. Ms. Zhang and her husband were most probably taken to the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Centre.
  • Covert "Rules and Regulations" Reveal Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Crimes

    So-called "reform through education centres" are actually brainwashing centres. They operate outside of the Chinese judicial system. The centres were specifically established to brainwash Falun Gong practitioners. These brainwashing centres, which are controlled by local "610 Offices," have been established throughout China. In almost every city, the CCP established brainwashing centres with names like "Holiday Villa" or "Legal Education Centre" or "Legal Education School." Real life examples of Orwellian doublespeak, these names are carefully crafted to cover up the real purpose of the centres. The staff at the brainwashing centres deprive practitioners of their freedom and torture them physically and mentally.
  • Additional Information on the Arrests of Practitioners Meng Xianwu, Li Mingyan and Jiang Yuqing in Huludao City, Liaoning Province

    On the morning of June 17th, the deputy director of the West Street Police Station in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, brought a group of people and arrested physician Dr. Meng Xianwu while he was working at the Zinc Factory Hospital. The stated reason for his arrest was that someone reported him for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong at the hospital. Because Meng Xianwu refused to disclose his home address, he was severely beaten by the police.
  • Mr. Wang Shenghua from Weifang City, Shandong Province Secretly Sent to Forced Labour Camp

    On April 22nd, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Shenghua was deceived into going to his work unit and arrested by officials from his work unit and the local Police Bureau. The officials from the local 610 Office and Police Bureau did not have any evidence or reason for the arrest. Somehow they still managed to secretly sentence Mr. Wang to forced labour shortly after the arrest. Mr. Wang is now detained at the No.7 Division of the Shandong Zhangqiu Forced Labor Camp (previously the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp). He is being tortured both physically and mentally.
  • Ms. Yuan Shuqin Sentenced to Three Years in Prison in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

    Ms. Yuan Shuqin, 51, was a teacher employed by Qingtongxia City Vocational High School. In April 2005, she was detained for one month. On November 10th, 2007, she was arrested again by officers assigned to follow her. She was detained for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong and that Falun Gong teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance. Because she would not renounce Falun Gong, on May 10th, 2008, the City Court sentenced Ms. Yuan Shuqin to three years in prison. Her husband was under enormous pressure and felt he must divorce her. Her whereabouts are now unknown.
  • Older Ms. Xing Qiying Persecuted by Officers from Donghuan Police Station in Shijiazhuang City

    Family and friends of Ms. Xing Qiying, who is in her 60s, are accusing officers from Donghuan Police Station in Shijiazhuang City of persecuting Ms. Xing Qiying. Ms. Xing has been brutally harassed by officers with the Donghuan Police Station, formerly known as the Yudong Police Station, ever since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong. In recent years, the police have harassed her, ransacked her home, and arrested her many times. They are now planning to send Ms. Xing to a forced labour camp before the Olympic Games.
