Crimes at Chinese Labour Camps Must Be Fully Exposed and Accounted For (Part 1)

Ms. Gao Rongrong was disfigured due to electric shocks at the Longshan Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Ms. Gao was arrested and taken to the Camp in July 2003 because of her belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Gao was captured again in March 2005 and sent to the Masanjia Labour Camp in Liaoning Province. She died on June 16th, 2005. Zhang Sukun, Ms. Gao's mum, over 75 years old, petitioned for justice for Ms. Gao's death and encountered a lot of difficulties and threats. She died five years later. -
Persecution Methods Used by Officers in Weifang City Domestic Security Division in Shandong Province
2014-01-18The Domestic Security Division of Weifang City and the local 610 Office treat Falun Gong practitioners as their “money bags” and whenever they need money, they make a list of practitioners and decide from which ones they can get the most money. For Falun Gong practitioners who are running a business, their wealth definitely makes them a target to be robbed by police. The Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office put pressure on the workplaces of those practitioners who have jobs to extort money for their release. -
Ms. Li Huaiying from Shanghai Transferred from Forced Labour Camp to Brainwashing Centre
2014-01-18Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Huaiying, 59, was arrested at her home on August 16th, 2012. She was sentenced to one year of forced labour. On April 18th, 2013, officials from 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) transferred her from the labour camp to a brainwashing centre. Ms. Li was interrogated, and they demanded to know who gave her materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and where she distributed them. -
Persecution Continues Unabated After Labour Camp Closures (Part 1)
2014-01-18In early 2013, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) announced a plan to abolish the notorious forced labour camp system, which had been instrumental in the persecution of Falun Gong. In November 2013, it declared that it would close down all forced labour camps by the end of the year. However, as Amnesty International's December 2013 report stated, “It's clear that the underlying policies of punishing people for their political activities or religious beliefs haven't changed. The abuses and torture are continuing, just in a different way.” Brainwashing centres, which are much less known, have taken over part of the role of forced labour camps. -
Hegang City Number 2 Detention Centre Tortured 53 Female Practitioners with the "Iron Bar"
2014-01-14Guards in the Number 2 Detention Centre in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province, tortured 53 female Falun Gong practitioners in April 2002 using a device called the "iron bar." The torture was directed by Zhang Chunqing, vice head of Hegang Police Station, and Li Shulin, head of the detention centre. The practitioners could not stand or sit. They were deprived of sleep and not allowed to go to the toilet. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Luo Jiangping Released from Prison in Critical Condition, Dies in Five Days
2014-01-14Mr. Luo Jiangping from Sichuan Province was arrested in January 2012. He was sentenced to a prison term and held in the Yunnan Province First Prison. In the prison, he had been subjected to many kinds of torture methods, such as injections with unknown drugs, being handcuffed and shackled, forced to do slave labour, confined in a solitary cell, and so on. Mr. Luo had told his family that he had been injected with poison. When he was on the verge of death, he was released on medical parole on December 23rd, 2013. Five days later, he passed away at the age of 51. -
Summary Report: At Least 76 Practitioners Died in 2013 as a Direct Result of Persecution
2014-01-14Many Falun Gong practitioners lose their lives each year under brutal persecution at the hands of the Chinese communist regime. According to Minghui website reports, at least 76 practitioners died in 2013. Twelve people died in 2012 but their deaths were not exposed until later. Nine deaths from previous years were verified in 2013. Among the deaths in 2013, eight practitioners were tortured to death by detention centre guards, 10 were tortured to death because they refused to be “transformed” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] in brainwashing centres and forced labour camps, 29 practitioners died in prisons, and 29 practitioners were arrested several times and died of prolonged persecution. -
Detention Centre Guards Beat Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Yang Naijian, from Qingdao City
2014-01-07The Qingdao City Police Department in Shandong Province mobilized close to 100 officers to arrest several Falun Gong practitioners on May 2nd, 2013. Mr. Yang was repeatedly abused by police, to the point of being on the brink of death several times. The police tortured him to get him to confess to crimes he didn't commit. Recently at the Chengyang District Detention Centre, he was again beaten and tortured by guards. -
Mr. Zhang Jinku Near Death Due to Torture and Abuse in Detention
2014-01-07Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Jinku of Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on March 29th, 2013, and is being held in Hulan Prison. Due to torture and mistreatment, he is disoriented and has lost bladder and bowel control. He has been transferred to the prison hospital, where he is on the verge of death. -
Police Secretly Install Tracking Device on Practitioner's Car
2014-01-07Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Li from Cangzhou City, Hebei Province found a little black box under her car’s chassis on December 9th, 2013. The box was about 8cm × 8cm × 2cm. Ms. Li learned that it was a "locator," a tracking device. She removed it from the car and put it in the basement next to her parking place. Mr. Li’s home was ransacked at noon on December 11th, by eight police officers. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Viciously Tortured at Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp Before it Closed
2014-01-07Authorities at the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp escalated their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners between August 2012 and February 2013, just before it was decommissioned. The labour camp used many kinds of torture on practitioners. They forced practitioners to sit on small plastic stools designed for children from 5:00 in the morning until midnight, sometimes even longer. There was little time for sleep. The torture made some some practitioners' buttocks fester. Right before the labour camp finally closed, some captains asked the practitioners they had tortured not to expose their crimes. These vicious perpetrators expressed fear of being brought to justice. -
Ms. Sun Yanxia in Critical Condition after Interrogation and Torture
2014-01-07Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Sun Yanxia, her husband Mr. Han Jianping, Ms. Fu Guihua and her daughter Xiaoyan were arrested at Ms. Fu's home on June 3rd, 2013. They were taken to the police station where they were interrogated and tortured. The police intended to frame them for making Falun Gong banners which were hung in a residential area in Changchun on May 13th. As a result of the torture, Ms. Sun Yanxia was diagnosed with early stage cirrhosis, and a tumour was found in her pelvis. -
"I Still Tremble When I Think About It - I Was Locked Up In a Men's Cell at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp” (Part 2)
2014-01-07"I was sent to the Shenyang Prisoners’ Hospital after being tortured. After all the abuse, I looked so terrible that I frightened the prisoners. On the thirteenth day of my hunger strike, I was dragged into the force-feeding room by five people. I was held down, and could not move. I almost suffocated. A pair of hands held my head tightly, and a tube was inserted into my nose. I did not know what they were feeding me. My stomach was filled with dirty water, and I kept vomiting." -

2014-01-07Ms. Yin Liping was locked up for practising Falun Gong and she recounts her dreadful experience, "Whenever I think of the notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, my heart trembles. I will never forget the day: April 19th, 2001. On that date, the guards at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp took nine of us – women who refused to give up our belief in Falun Gong, into nine separate rooms. I was put into the first room where four male inmates were waiting. I saw another big room holding more than 30 men when I went to the toilet." -
Mr. Zhao Gangxian Arrested and His Bedridden Wife Died from Lack of Care
2014-01-02Mr. Zhao Gangxian, 65, was arrested by police in Bazhong City on the afternoon of October 8th, 2013 after a false accusation was lodged against him. Mr. Zhao is detained in the Bazhou District Detention Centre. His wife had been bitten by a poisonous snake and was confined to bed. She passed away at the age of 61 two weeks later because her husband was not there to care for her.
