EFGIC: Chinese Police Rape Female Graduate Student
2003-06-11'According to witnesses, on the evening of May 13th, several policemen took Wei to a cell in Baihelin Detention Centre of Shapingba District. There, witnesses say the police officers forced two female inmates to strip her, and one of the uniformed policemen pushed her to the ground and raped her as the other inmates watched. When Ms. Wei engaged in a hunger strike to protest her treatment, police botched a violent forced-feeding attempt, seriously injuring both her trachea and esophagus, leaving her unable to speak.' -
Financial Times: Sars takes heavy toll at China Southern

Denmark: The Chinese Embassy has Unreasonably Denied my Passport Application
2003-06-09The clerk said: We cannot grant your application, and then returned my old passport and application form. When I asked him why this was so, he said that it was because I practise Falun Gong, which is illegal in China. He also mentioned that it is Chinas policy not to process passport applications that are filed by Falun Gong practitioners. When I asked him to give me a written explanation, he said: Apart from an oral notification, I cannot provide you with any document. -

According to the UN human rights annual report, force feeding is often used as a torture technique on detainees who are on hunger strike. Swedish Ambassador in Thailand Escorts Mrs. Pirjo Svensson to Bangkok Airport
2003-06-08Before boarding the plane, Mrs. Svensson read out a statement that she had written earlier that day. The Swedish Ambassador then made a statement to Pirjo’s friends, the reporters and the Thai police. 2003-06-08On the day before the Mondo Verde Asian Festival, the organizer received a fax from the Chinese Consulate asking him to cancel the Falun Gong demonstration. UK: Dafa Practitioners Hold a Press Conference in Front of the London Chinese Embassy
2003-06-08This day was the 1st anniversary of the permanent 24-hour peaceful vigil in front of the Embassy. The reasons for the press conference were to celebrate this historical day, to support the lawsuit against Jiang that has been filed in Chicago, and to call for the release of Dr. Charles Li, an American who is on hunger strike in a Chinese prison.
