There is a saying among people: "The destruction of a dam can begin with an ants' nest." A practitioner who does not cultivate diligently and isn't strict with himself will find that attachments of the human heart that have not been eliminated will lead him to danger. Human emotions cannot disappear automatically, rather they must be be eliminated step by step through cultivation. To stop cultivating is to allow the evil to enlarge them and construct huge tribulations. -
I Finally Recognised My Fundamental Attachments
2006-12-22Recently I found that many of my attachments came from my fundamental attachment of "self." This selfish "self" is the same as the nature of the old forces. It wants to do what I want to do, get what I want to get, and does not want me to change. It makes me insist on my own opinion. It makes me become angry whenever someone disagrees with me and influences what I want to do. -

It was as if the crops had finally received water after a long drought, or that a lost child had found the way home. 2006-12-21As Huineng's name became more and more respected, monks of Shenxiu's School of Northern Zen Buddhism in Yuquan Temple were extremely troubled. Although Shenxiu himself hadn't paid any attention to it, his disciples were disconcerted and wanted to make trouble for Huineng. They thought of many ways. One monk by the name of Zhiming had an idea. He said he had a layman friend called Zhang Xingchang, who was fond of helping victims of injustice and had excellent martial arts skills. They could use him to give Huineng a lesson. -
The Story of My Father's Cultivation
2006-12-20My father got up slowly and said, "I am fine. See if everyone else is ok." A young man said, "How come you are okay? Let me call 110 (equivalent to 911 in the U.S.) and make the owner of that car go to the hospital with you, too. Make him pay for the expense and the bike as well." My father replied, "Thank you, young man, but I am fine. Can you pull my bike out from under the wheel? I can fix it ." But, the the bike was stuck under the wheel and no one could do anything. -
The Returning Clouds
2006-12-20There was a pond for drinking water about two meters in width. The slim trickle of spring water came down from above through a bamboo pipe. The water was very clear and a little sweet, with an herbal taste to it. The taste was so special that it surpassed any drinks I had previously had. Brother Guo Yu, who was very knowledgeable about herbs, said the water had accumulated the essence from hundreds of different herbs. When I later saw numerous herbs and grasses growing all over the mountain, I knew it was true. -

If we keep thinking that they should conform to our will and keep considering their shortcomings for our own advantages, we as a result become so angry that we forget we are practitioners. Human Rights Law Foundation Issues Statement Condemning Singapore’s Unlawful Sentences
2006-12-17The Human Rights Law Foundation issued a statement condemning the abuse of human rights. The statement said: "We respectfully call upon all nations around the world to call upon the government of Singapore to drop all charges against the Singapore Nine, to overturn the sentence imposed unlawfully upon Ng Chye Huay and Erh Boon Tiong immediately, and to cease all actions that unlawfully and unjustly curtail the ability of citizens and residents of Singapore to freely exercise their rights to religious freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of assembly, forthwith." -
Diligently Study the Falun Gong Teachings – Pass the Test of Criticism
2006-12-17I did not say anything in the moment and did not "get upset as soon as others criticise," but in my mind I was finding fault with my daughter. I thought, "Is this your way to educate? Can you raise your daughter well by carrying on like this? You are not showing your mother respect!" The more I thought this way, the more agitated I felt. I still used the reasoning of the old universe to measure what was happening that day and eventually came to the conclusion that my daughter was at fault. -
Betting on the Chinese Communist Party Is Destroying Your Own Future
2006-12-16I learnt from history that there are many factors that could lead to a country's decline -- some are outside factors and some come from within. As for modern countries, the destruction of social, moral and legal systems by the political system has been the the death knell for the regime that wrought such destruction. Today's Singapore government is heading in that direction. Please be assured that this is not alarmist talk.
