Norway: Raising Awareness about the Persecution of Falun Gong

There was more than shopping during no-car-day in Oslo on May 5th, 2007. Falun Gong practitioners in Norway distributed information about organs being removed from living Falun Gong practitioners in death camps in China, their bodies cremated to remove all evidence and the organs sold for large profits.

No-car-day in Bogstadveien, with its many sales, outdoor shopping stands and teeming street life always attracts a lot of people. Falun Gong practitioners were there to tell the people about the organ trade and that this trade is part of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China. The Chinese regime removes organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, who are killed in the process and cremated to remove all evidence of the crime.

The practitioners carried posters, on their bodies with the message: "Death camps exposed in China: Stealing organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and sold for profit". At the same time they distributed flyers with more information about the persecution of Falun Gong which has lasted since 1999, when the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin could not tolerate that there were more people practicing Falun Gong than there were members of the Chinese Communist Party.

The response from people was very positive

A Chinese practitioner met a lady who said, referring to the illegal and immoral organ harvesting, "I have read it. It is horrific!" The Chinese practitioner also said that she experienced that people really wanted and were grateful for the flyers and that their eyes were sparkling.

An elderly Chinese practitioner, who came to Norway as a refugee and who does not yet know much Norwegian, told them through translator, that many people saw the poster she had on her body and came to her and asked for a flyer. She also felt that people were genuinely interested.

A Norwegian practitioner said that people saw his poster, read it and said, "I want a flyer!" Another person said, "I do not want a flyer, but I am appreciating what you are doing!" He felt that people were grateful for more information.

Another Norwegian practitioner shared that an elderly gentleman came and pointed at her poster and asked if it was true. When the practitioner told him that there really existed such death camps where Falun Gong practitioners had their organs stolen, the elderly gentleman said, "This is cruel". He took a flyer and said he wanted to read more.

A group of youths wanted to borrow a pen from the practitioner. One of them asked what she was demonstrating for. When they got to know about the organ harvesting, one could see from their face expressions that they thought that that was horrific.

Many young and elderly took the flyers after reading the poster of the practitioners.
