They were divided into two groups, one to prepare the fabric, the other to operate the sewing machines. Everyone was assigned an unreasonable workload. For example, the one operating the sewing machine had to work 620 minutes per day. If she was unable to, she was verbally abused and punished, such as being shocked with an electric baton, kicked, or slapped. Every day the inmates in the No.10 Ward started to line up at 6:40 a.m. for the workshop. They would finish, at the earliest, at 7:00 pm. They sometimes worked overtime, until 9:00 p.m. Everyone was so exhausted when they returned to their cells that some had difficulty climbing the stairs. Some were not allowed to eat dinner or go to the toilet if they didn't finish the daily quota.

In Wanjia Forced Labour Camp practitioners were forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong and write statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. A dozen collaborators (former practitioners, brainwashed against Falun Gong, made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners) tried to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] me from dawn to midnight every day. My relatives and I went to Changzhou a few days ago although we are poor and live in a faraway city. We had hoped to see my son. However, 610 Office director Ji Liming did not listen to my appeal at all but kept publicly cursing me. Just because I am a Falun Gong practitioner, he regarded me as a person who would “harm the safety of teachers and students in Changzhou University” and took video of us.
