63-Year-Old Ms. Wang Huimin Dies as Result of Persecution

Ms. Wang Huimin started to practise Falun Gong in 1994. After becoming a practitioner, she was considerate of others and was considered a good person. She was praised by her relatives, friends and neighbours. When she started practising, many of her ailments, including cerebral thrombosis, disappeared. Over the last ten years, she was arrested over ten times and was severely tortured. Twice she was hit so hard that she became paralysed. She was injured both physically and mentally. Being unable to tolerate further abuse, her health deteriorated and she could not eat or sleep. On January 3rd, 2010, Ms. Wang passed away. -
Two Older Practitioners Die in Gansu and Liaoning Provinces as a Result of Persecution
2010-02-11Mr. Yang Shengchun, in his 80s, persisted in distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong after the persecution began on July 20th, 1999. He was locked up twice for one year in brainwashing centres. In March 2007, while Mr. Yang was delivering Falun Gong materials to the neighbouring village, he was arrested by village administrators. They knocked him to the ground and stomped on his head, causing him to lose consciousness. He suffered severe nerve damage that affected him mentally. On December 18th, 2009, he was very confused and could not find his way home. The next day he was found near a ditch where he had frozen to death. -
The Ongoing Persecution of Lawyer Liu Ruping from Jinan City, Shandong Province
2010-02-11After sixth months of detention, the Changqing District Court in Jinan City tried Mr. Liu Ruping again, and sentenced him to seven years in prison on January 22nd, 2010. Mr. Liu said that he is innocent of any wrongdoing, and that the day that justice will prevail for Falun Gong is coming soon. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999 Mr. Liu has suffered in detention electric shock, sleep deprivation, forced labour, brainwashing, force-feeding, beatings, imprisonment, solitary confinement, torture, physical restraint, home ransacked, and interrogation, because he continues to practise Falun Gong. -
Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp Brutally Tortures Ms. Feng Xiaomei
2010-02-11Ms. Feng Xiaomei was arrested in May 2009 and detained at Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. In the camp Ms. Feng did not acknowledge the "transformation" attempts nor make any statements defaming Falun Gong. Guard Liu Ziwei yelled at her, "I will torture you so that you will feel worse than death." After that, Ms. Feng was deprived of family visits, showers, and access to the toilet. Despite her poor physical condition, guards forced her to do labour with other inmates. By then, she was very weak and there had been blood in her faeces for several months. But the guards still forced her to make more than 500 file folders every day, a workload that even a healthy person could hardly finish. If she did not finish, the entire group was deprived of rest and forced to stand. Every day after work, Ms. Feng was exhausted and could barely walk. -
Ms. Han Jixiang from Linyi City Persecuted for More Than a Decade
2010-02-10On January 11th, 2010, Ms. Han Jixiang was arrested by police for carrying exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. She was then interrogated by officers from the National Security Division. In 2002, Ms. Han was sentenced to one year of forced labour. She was subjected to sleep deprivation and bombarded with lies day and night. As a result of the brainwashing and the mental torture, she was unable to stand still and staggered when walking. She eventually suffered from a mental disorder as a result of the torture, and was sent to a mental hospital for one day. The medical staff said that they gave her a check-up. Only when the officers found that Ms. Han was on the verge of death did they release her. -
Practitioners Stripped and Coerced to "Transform" by Officials at the Longquanyi Women's Prison of Chengdu City
2010-02-10All practitioners detained at Longquanyi Women's Prison were forced to go through a "strict discipline period" during their first three months at the prison. During this period of time, practitioners were not allowed to leave their cells, buy anything, or talk to anybody from outside the prison. Each cell has two inmates who were assigned by prison authorities to closely monitor practitioners. The police and assigned inmates took turns to brainwash practitioners by slandering Falun Gong, and playing videos defaming Falun Gong. Steadfast practitioners who resisted the brainwashing are kept there beyond three months. -
Mr. Guan Wenlong Subjected to Forced Labour After Seven Years of Imprisonment
2010-02-10For upholding his belief, Mr. Guan Wenlong was arrested in January 2002 and then given seven years of arduous imprisonment. While in prison, he was subjected to severe maltreatment. Before the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Communist regime intensified the persecution of Falun Gong. Guards severely beat Mr. Guan and shocked him with electric batons many times. His body still has many obvious scars that were caused by the electric shocks. He was released in January 2009; however, the local police arrested him again on December 29th, 2009, and once more sent him to a forced labour camp. -
The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province
2010-02-10Before practising Falun Gong, many practitioners from Lianshan Town, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province suffered difficult diseases and were critically ill. They started to practise Falun Gong when they had nearly given up hope for living. They fully recovered soon after beginning practice, which gave them a strong belief in Falun Gong. After July 20th, 1999, they were brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel in Lianshan Town, Guanghan City because they refused to give up practising Falun Gong. -
The Persecution of Ms. Liu Fenghou and Her Husband, Mr. Zhao Chuanwen
2010-02-09Eight years ago, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Fenghou and her husband, Mr. Zhao Chuanwen from Shandong Province were arrested. Mengyin County 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents sentenced Mr. Zhao to thirteen years of imprisonment. He is still incarcerated at the Shandong Province Prison. Ms. Liu was subjected to three years of forced labour and has lived a very difficult life since her release in 2005. -
Retired Professor Zhang Yougao from Chongqing University Persecuted
2010-02-09On May 13th, 2009, two lawyers from Beijing, were hired by the family of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Xiqing, to investigate his death at Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. The police arrested and beat both of them once they arrived in Chongqing. On May 14th, over ten police officers tried to break into the home of 70-year-old retired Professor Zhang Yougao. They asked him whether he was involved in hiring the lawyers from Beijing. Mr. Zhang refused to answer, so the police then tried to break into his home. Since that day, the police have hung around his home and watched him every day. -
After Several Imprisonments, Ms. Chen Qinfang Subjected to Forced Labour Again
2010-02-09Ms. Chen Qinfang went shopping at a market in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province on November 1st, 2009. She was suddenly abducted and taken to Kunshan Cao'An Police Station. After the subsequent ransacking of her home, her family did not hear from her again. After Ms. Chen was arrested, personnel from the police station never told her family where she was being detained. She didn't even have a change of clothing. In the chilly weather of early November, her family wanted to send her some warm clothing, but they didn't know where she was being held. Ms. Chen's family received no notice until the night of November 24th when they got a call. The police told them to go to Kunshan Detention Centre the next day. Only then did her family know that Ms. Chen had been secretly sentenced to a one-year forced labour term. She refused to give up her belief. -
Ms. Liu Hefang's Life Endangered for Three Months at Chongqing Forced Labour Camp
2010-02-09Ms. Liu Hefang was detained in a dark room at the Chongqing City Women's Forced Labour Camp for more than three months. She was physically tortured, and with her hands handcuffed behind her back, she was hung up. She was force fed with poison which made her senseless. She became emaciated very quickly, could not open her eyes, and was beaten until her legs were broken. Two strong, tall inmates who monitored her around the clock lifted her up by shoulders and dragged her out during visiting hours. Her family members tried to talk to her and awaken her but she didn't raise her head or speak at all. She was unconscious during the whole visit and her family was dumbfounded, angry and broke down in tears -
Ms. Yang Chunxiu, 56, Who Has Had to Live Away from Home for Years, Arrested Again
2010-02-08Forced to live away from home for several years, Ms. Yang Chunxiu was arrested between December 25th and 30th, 2009. Not until shortly before the New Year did police officers go to her relatives to take down a written statement. Her family knew that she had been arrested. The New Year came, but the family couldn't have a get-together and were miserable. Previously, in Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp guards tried to make her give up her faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They used different tactics, including forcing her to stand perfectly still; depriving her of sleep, toilet use, and taking a bath; have a group of people attack her; injecting her with harmful drugs; and forbidding her family members from visiting her. -
Hundreds of People in Shuangcheng, Harbin, Call for the Release of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Lanying
2010-02-08On December 2nd, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Lanying was sentenced to a four-year prison term by the Shuangcheng People's Court, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. Ms. Li and her husband Mr. Gao Guang'en were persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which made people in Shuangcheng angry at the local government. More than four hundred people stood up and called for the unconditional release of Ms. Li. At the end of December 2009, Ms. Li's family appealed to Harbin Intermediate People's Court. -
Practitioners Beaten in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2010-02-08From the summer of 2007 to July 2008, more than one hundred practitioners from Beijing were sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Zou Shuqin, in her 50's, was one of them. Her original sentence had expired in Beijing, but because of the Beijing Olympics, five practitioners were transferred to Masanjia and forced to serve another six months. In 2008, whilst in Masanjia, Ms. Zou had shouted "Falun Gong is good" in the dining hall and was quickly dragged out. She was taken to the fourth floor, where she was shocked with electric batons, brutally beaten and kicked. Ms. Zou was hung up off the ground for a long period of time before being taken back to her cell. At about 11 p.m. that evening, Ms. Zou had a severe headache and started to vomit. She was then sent to the clinic.
