  • Practitioners Tortured and Made to Do Hard Labour at Fenjin Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City

    Officials at Fenjin Forced Labour Camp in Changchun try to brainwash Falun Gong practitioners in an attempt to get them to renounce their belief and force them to do hard labour, so that the officials there can make huge amounts of money from it. Practitioners at the camp are made to work in a factory that produces bird craft products, which are then exported to Japan. The place is filthy and very dusty. The air is filled with a pungent odour from coloured dyes and the smell emitted from the glue is suffocating. There is no ventilation, which causes extreme pain to the eyes and throat.
  • Mr. Du Xiangzhong Arrested Again after Years of Severe Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Du Xiangzhong was arrested on January 4th, 2013 while he was talking to people about Falun Gong in Ju County, Rizhao City. Over the 10-plus years of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Du, 48, was imprisoned and beaten multiple times, and twice taken to a forced labour camp. In addition, he has been extorted for over 30,000 yuan.
  • Five Falun Gong Practitioners from Ningxiang Arrested

    On December 21st, 2012, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Dong Chao, Ms. Zhu Chuxia and a practitioner surnamed Yao as they passed Guangming Village, Wangcheng County. The three practitioners were beaten by the police. Afterwards, Yao and Mr. Dong were sent to the Wangcheng Detention Centre. Ms. Zhu's whereabouts are unknown. After being detained for several days, Yao still had clearly visible blood marks about the mouth. Mr. Dong's front teeth were missing due to being beaten. He looked old and withered. He talked in a low voice and had no energy.
  • A Practitioner Testifies to the Conditions in a Forced Labour Camp

    When I read the media report about Julie Keith, a lady from Oregon who had bought a box of Halloween decorations and found a letter from someone in a Chinese labour camp inside, I was moved to tears. According to the letter, the decorations were made in Section 8, Division 2 of Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. The letter stated, “If you accidentally buy this product, please kindly resend this letter to the World Human Rights Organisation. Thousands of people here, who are being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party, will thank and remember you forever.” I was detained in the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp in 2001 for 18 months. About 1000 detainees were incarcerated there, and most of them were Falun Gong practitioners serving terms of one to three years. Inmates were often ordered to monitor and beat practitioners.

    Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Yanjun, Ms. Liu Yanchun, and Mr. Jiang Tao were arrested on September 13th, 2012, and have now been held for over four months. The Erdao District Procuratorate scheduled a public hearing on January 11th, 2013. The family attended. The family stressed that their relatives hadn't committed any crimes, were wrongfully accused, and that the law enforcement officers had actually violated the law. Ms. Liu's father stated that his daughters had been arrested in the summer, but it was now almost the Chinese New Year and he has yet to see them. Prosecutor Chen Yu claimed, “They've been dressed very warmly and are in good spirits.” The family replied, “Then why did a doctor from the centre call us and ask us to find our medical insurance cards to prepare for their hospitalisation?
  • Mr. Jia Zhijiang Tortured after the “700-Signature Petition Incident” and Indefinitely Detained

    More than 700 villagers from Zhengding County, Hebei Province, signed a petition in June 2012, demanding the release of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Lankui, who was unjustly arrested on June 7th, 2012. After the incident was widely covered in the media inside and outside of China, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents carried out large-scale arrests in an effort to identify who posted the details of the petition on the Internet. Mr. Jia Zhijiang was among those detained. He has been detained for almost six months, during which time he has been subjected to severe physical abuse and torture.
  • Li Yuzhen and Yang Zongquan of Shangdong Province Still Unjustly Imprisoned

    Mr. Li Yuzhen, 70, and Mr. Yang Zongquan, over 50, are both from Qingdao, Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province. They were arrested in March 2011 for telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Their homes were also ransacked and the police stole cash, computers, and other personal items. They were interrogated, beaten, and their hands and ankles cuffed. They are still in the Jiaozhou City Detention Centre because Jinan Prison refuses to accept them.
  • Ms. Wang Ling, 65, Mentally Incapacitated after Being Tortured in Labour Camps for Eight Years

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Ling was arrested by officers from the Public Security Bureau of Tieling City for her faith in Falun Gong. She was sent to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City three times for a total of eight years and tortured with stretching, hanging, freezing, bundling, beating, etc. All of her teeth were knocked out. At present, she is mentally incapacitated and very feeble, and can only walk slowly. She can't stand for very long.
  • Sixty-four-year-old Ms. Cui Hai from Wuhan City Seriously Injured While Being Interrogated and Tortured

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cui Hai, 64, was arrested after having earlier been forced to live away from home to avoid the persecution. Police held her in a brainwashing centre for more than 2 months before transferring her to Wuhan City No.1 Detention Centre. During her one-month detention, Ms. Cui was seriously injured while being interrogated and tortured. Over the past 13 years, Ms. Cui Hai had been repeatedly arrested, detained, and sentenced because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. After being held in prison for three years, she was fired from her job, and thus lost her salary and benefits. She is now being secretly detained and tortured again.
  • Former Russian Programme Host at Heilongjiang Province TV Station Given Second Four-year Prison Term

    Former Russian programme host and reporter for a Heilongjiang Province TV Station, practitioner Zhao Xidong, was arrested on December 31st, 2011 by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities and was recently sentenced to four years in prison. His wife has filed an appeal to Judge Yu Li of the Nangang District Court, Harbin City. In January 2000, Mr. Zhao was fired from his post for practising Falun Gong. On June 27th, 2006, he was sentenced to four years in prison and sent to Daqing Prison. He suffered inhuman treatment while he was imprisoned.
  • Firsthand Account: Details of Persecution Endured by Li Jiqiu from Qiqihar Before His Death

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Jiqiu from Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province was brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for a long time. He was arrested and sentenced in 2004. As a result of persecution at the Yaohulu Police Farm in Fulaerji and the Tailai Prison, he became severely ill. He was often harassed by police after being released. He was forced to become homeless and his health steadily deteriorated. He passed away on December 9th, 2012.
  • Ms. Miao Fengling, 54, from Tianjin Arrested, Family Members Persecuted under Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Implication Policy

    On December 17th, 2012, police broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Miao Fengling's apartment building and arrested her. The officers also took her husband and daughter with them and didn't release them until 4:00 a.m. the next day. Ms. Miao was then sent to the Heping District Detention Centre. Ms. Miao's family has been implicated and persecuted because she practises Falun Gong. Her husband lost his job, and the authorities even harassed her younger sister, who is a sales manager, at her workplace. Other family members have also been directly persecuted.
  • Mr. Hu Chuanlin Suffers Mental Breakdown Due to Torture at Xinan Forced Labour Camp

    Practitioner Hu Chuanlin was arrested and taken to the Beijing Xinan Forced Labour Camp on October 30th, 2012. Within two weeks of arriving at Xinan Forced Labour Camp, he suffered a mental collapse from torture and inhumane treatment. On November 7th, Mr. Hu's lawyer went to Xinan Forced Labour Camp and requested to see his client; however, his request was denied by the labour camp authorities. According to Mr. Hu's mother, Mr. Hu talked to her on the phone for half an hour and told her, “You cannot possibly imagine what it is like in here.” His mother could feel that he was not in a normal state of mind and said he sounded extremely depressed as a result of the torture.
  • Kind Villager in Hebei Province Dies as a Result of Persecution in Handan Labour Camp

    Mr. Wu Ruixiang was taken to the Handan Forced Labour Camp on April 24th, 2012. Mr. Wu refused to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. He was subjected to brutal torture there. Guards ordered an inmate to deprive Mr. Wu of sleep and ordered the inmates to monitor him around the clock. Mr. Wu was forced to stand or sit on a small stool. He was verbally abused and threatened. He was forced to attend brainwashing sessions. He was originally sentenced to one year of forced labour. However, four months later, the camp authorities called his family and urged them to take him home. Mr. Wu died on January 18th, 2013.
