Doctor Cao Chunqiang Dies after Beatings and Forced Labour

Doctor Cao Chunqiang used to have his own clinic in the Sanhekou Community in Longmen Town. Because he practised Falun Gong, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel kept harassing him, forcing him to close the clinic in May 2004 and find other work. In 2006, police arrested him. Seven officers beat and kicked him brutally, severely injuring his head, ear, and genitals. Police said he was arrested for practising Falun Gong, and giving people materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. His left ear festered, and his other injuries were not treated. Police had him do forced labour in a detention centre for 18 months, then took him to the Xinhua Men's Forced Labour Camp. In 2007, the authorities had to release him due to his ill health. Mr. Cao died of liver cancer on January 4th, 2010. He was 37 years old. -
Nine Years of Imprisonment: Ms. Wang Jinfan, 57, Recounts the Persecution She Suffered
2011-03-13Ms. Wang Jinfan has been persecuted repeatedly by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since the start of the persecution in July 1999. She was sentenced to more than ten years of imprisonment in 2002. She recounts: "Police broke into my home on July 16th, 2000. They ransacked the place, confiscated Falun Gong books and took me to the police station. Officer Chen used a torture method called "carrying a sword on the back" in which one arm is forced up and over the shoulder and the other is forced up behind one's back. Then the two are tightly linked with handcuffs. He slapped my face dozens of times until my face swelled. He dragged me to the centre of the room and kicked my back really hard. He grasped the handcuffs, lifted me up, and swung me. All my weight was on my wrists. I couldn't stand the excruciating pain and cried out. It felt like my right arm was dislocated. My wrists bled from the handcuffs." -
Twelve Falun Gong Practitioners from Cao County, Shandong Province Arrested, Abused and Sent to Forced Labour Camps
2011-03-13A dozen practitioners from Cao County, Shandong Province were recently sentenced to forced labour. Zhao Wenxing, Sun Hongru, and Jiang Xuejun were each sentenced to one year and six months. Ge Xiurong, Tao Ping, and Liang Ping were sentenced to two years of forced labour. These practitioners are currently detained in Jinan Forced Labour Camp. While he was making a phone call on his mobile phone, practitioner Sun Guodong's whereabouts were tracked down and he was taken into custody. -
Mr. Yin Huajie Secretly Sentenced to Eight Years in Deyang Prison
2011-03-13Mr. Yin Huajie was secretly sentenced to eight years in 2006 and is forced to do hard labour in Deyang Prison clothing factory. Mr. Yin Huajie and five other Falun Gong practitioners were stopped in their car by police in April 2005. The practitioners were arrested and detained at Beichuan Detention Centre. Mr. Yin was later transferred to An County Detention Centre. The police interrogated him and physically abused him, causing harm to his physical and mental health. -
Ms. Xing Yue's Family Members Arrested after Inquiring About Her Death at Shijiazhuang Women's Prison in Hebei Province
2011-03-12We recently learned that practitioner Ms. Xing Yue was beaten to death in a solitary confinement cell at the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison in Hebei Province. She was killed between January 8th and 10th, 2011. Her family went to the local detention centre to verify the details, but the detention centre officials lied, and claimed that Ms. Xing was still alive. Three relatives went to the county 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) to request Ms. Xing's release, but they were arrested. Two of them are still in custody. -
Ms. Lu Guiling from Weihai City, Shandong Province Is Physically Abused in Shandong Province Women's Prison
2011-03-12Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Lu Guiling from Weihai City has been subjected to persecution many times. She was last arrested on November 12th, 2008 and sentenced to 19 years in prison. She is currently in the Shandong Province Women's Prison and is being subjected to severe physical abuse and mistreatment. -
Violent Persecution in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, Liaoning
2011-03-12I went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in 2000, and was arrested and sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning. This particular forced labour camp is notorious for its human rights violations. While I was there, I saw all too much evil. Falun Gong prisoners had to get up at 5:00 a.m. We had to work in the workshops, making flowers, sweaters, crafts, and cotton clothing for export. We were exposed to harmful chemicals every day. We worked long days, until 10:00 p.m., and sometimes past midnight. One practitioner named Su Juzhen was tortured to death. They would not let her sleep at night and forced her to squat for long periods of time. -
Practitioner Lin Jian Sentenced Again
2011-03-12On May 20th, 2010, a robbery happened in Guiyang City. When the security group was conducting an investigation, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Jian happened to be in the area. A security worker Chen Qinghua searched Mr. Lin because he was not an resident, and found some DVDs of Falun Gong materials on him. Chen Qinghua then reported Mr. Lin to the local police, and he was detained at the Nanming Police Station. On December 17th, 2010, the Nanming District Court sentenced Mr. Lin to three years of imprisonment despite the lack of convincing evidence of any wrongdoing. Mr. Lin's family was not informed about the trial. -
Two Sons Detained; Mother Loses Support
2011-03-11Before the Chinese New Year, in front of the Huadian Detention Centre in Jilin Province, an elderly woman in her 70s called out, “Huzi, come back, Huzi...” The elderly woman is the mother of Mr. Wang Xiaohu and Mr. Wang Xiaodong. Just because her two sons practise Falun Gong, a court run by the Chinese Communist Party sentenced Mr. Wang Xiaohu to seven years in prison in 2002 and Mr. Wang Xiaodong to seven years in prison in 2006. After being detained in prison for seven years, Mr. Wang Xiaohu was arrested and detained again by the police in 2010. -
Ms. Chen Laidi Dies in Shanghai
2011-03-11Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Laidi lived close to the Shanghai 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). During the 2008 Olympics, officers continued to harass Ms. Chen at home and threatened her. Later when Ms. Chen went out of town, the Shanghai 610 Office agents picked the lock to her door, entered her home and ransacked it. After that, Ms. Chen found herself being constantly followed. Someone saw her right before May 1st, 2010, and she was in good health at the time, but only two weeks later, police said she died in her home. Ms. Chen was found dead in her home on May 11th, days after she died. -
Court in Guangdong Province Sentences Mr. Chen Hongsong to Eight Years in Prison
2011-03-11Mr. Chen Hongsong began to practise Falun Gong at the end of 1998. At the beginning of 2000, he was imprisoned for four and a half years. He was again detained by police on orders from the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in May 2010 and sentenced to 8 years in prison. Mr. Chen's wife went to the 610 Office and other departments to request the release of her husband. However, they tried to shift responsibility back and forth. -
Jiangxi Province Women's Prison Officials Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners
2011-03-11Officials and guards in the Jiangxi Province Women's Prison tightly follow the Chinese Communist Party's directives to persecute and abuse Falun Gong practitioners. They torture practitioners brutally. The deputy chief said they could do whatever they wanted to practitioners who refused to “reform” (to give up their belief). Education Section head Zong Yunhua told practitioner Zhang Yuzhen while torturing her, “Abusing a person like you is nothing.” Practitioner Li Meilian was hung up and suffered terribly. Practitioner Ms. Liao Haimei was punished by having to stand still for a long time. Her legs were swollen, and she was deprived of sleep. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Qu Dehong Recounts Years of Severe Torture and Persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
2011-03-10In the past eleven years, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qu Dehong was detained and tortured in prison by the Domestic Security Team of Jidong County. His wife was forced to divorce him, and his mother passed away. He recounts: "In May 2005, I, along with eleven practitioners in the detention centre, started a hunger strike. We demanded to be set free immediately. The guards then forced food into our mouths. All the male practitioners were beaten with the rubber tube. They put a feeding tube into my nose to force-feed me. Additionally, they added a lot of salt into the milk. On July 5th, they sent me to the hospital. The criminals in the hospital used a metal spoon to open my mouth and force-fed me." -
Xu Zhibin's Family Kept from Visiting Him in Jinzhou Prison for Almost Two Years
2011-03-10Mr. Xu Zhibin is currently imprisoned at the Jinzhou City Prison in Liaoning province. From 2002 to now, Xu Zhibin has been imprisoned for nine years altogether, which had made life very difficult for his wife and child. Xu Zhibin is still in the prison serving a 14-year term. His family has not been allowed to visit him. The prison said it was because Mr. Xu's local police station did not write a statement to prove that Mr. Xu promised not to practise Falun Gong. When Mr. Xu was arrested in 2002, police tortured him using a method called “hanging a bucket of water” on his neck and struck his hands, face, and head. He was tortured for a whole night until his face was swollen and he could not move. His arms and hands were numb. -
Father and Son Imprisoned for Helping Install Independent Television Receivers in China
2011-03-10Mr. Liao Songlin and Mr. Liao Zhijun are father and son. They are both Falun Gong practitioners from Chenzhou City, Hunan Province. The Chinese communist regime arrested them for helping local residents install receivers for NTD Television (a TV company that broadcasts programmes exposing the persecution of Falun Gong), a New York-based independent Chinese television. Mr. Liao Songlin was sentenced to four years imprisonment and Mr. Liao Zhijun to three and a half years. Both of them are currently held in Jinshi Prison in Chengde, Hunan.
