Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Laidi was well-known as a very nice lady who lived on the top floor in Kaichengyuan Garden. Her husband died a few years ago, and their son was studying abroad in Japan, so she lived alone. Kaichengyuan neighbourhood is only 100 metres away from the Shanghai 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) (38-Taiyangshan Street). During the 2008 Olympics, officers continued to harass Ms. Chen at home and threatened her.

Later when Ms. Chen went out of town, the Shanghai 610 Office agents picked the lock to her door and entered her home. They ransacked it, and placed many guards around her neighbourhood. When Ms. Chen returned home, she found it had been ransacked. She located the Zhijiangxilu Community 610 Office chair, whose name was Jiang, and asked why agents had entered her locked home without her permission. Jiang had no relevant answer.

After that, Ms. Chen found herself being constantly followed. Someone saw her right before May 1st, 2010, and she was in good health at the time, but only two weeks later, police said she died in her home. Word spread that when people were passing by her home there was a foul-smelling odour. Ms. Chen was found dead in her home on May 11th, days after she died. Her son returned on May 12th, but her body had already been cremated.

The truth of how Ms. Chen died is yet to be determined.
