Suspicious Circumstances Surround the Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Xu Chunhua

On February 23rd, 2010, a shepherd discovered a body in a well near Liuwentun Village and reported it to the Qilihe Town Police Station. Authorities have identified the body as that of Mr. Xu Chunhua. The cause of death is still under investigation. Mr. Xu disappeared three months ago. Someone said that he had been arrested and imprisoned at the Yi County Detention Centre. On December 28th, 2009, a family member of Mr. Xu visited the detention centre, but guards told him that no such person was in the centre. The family asked others to check for the whereabouts of Mr. Xu, and was told that, "the person practising Falun Gong was sent to a forced labour camp." -
Persecution of Ms. Gu Jihong and Ms. Lu Xiuli from the Putuo District of Shanghai
2010-03-16Since 1999, Ms. Gu Jihong has been repeatedly persecuted. In June 2000, she was sentenced to three years in prison. In June 2005, she was sent to a forced labour camp for a one year term. On March 1st, 2008, Ms. Gu Jianmin, Ms. Gu Jihong's sister, was arrested by police. On March 13th, 2008, she was tortured to death. On July 26th, 2008, Ms. Gu was arrested because the personnel of the Putuo 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) worried that she would appeal for justice for her sister during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. So, on November 19th, 2008, the Putuo Court sentenced her to three years in prison. -
Persecution Suffered by Mr. Zheng Fangjun Prior to His Death
2010-03-14During the past ten years, Mr. Zheng Fangjun was twice sent to a forced labour camp, detained four times, and brutally tortured. Mr. Zheng decided to leave home following his release in 2005, in order to avoid further persecution. He was homeless for years and constantly on the run, lacking a secure place to stay. He often skipped meals and spent long hours outdoors, rain or shine. The rough living took a toll on his health. He had trouble swallowing, constantly coughed, and vomited blood. He became so weak that he was always exhausted and had trouble breathing. Zheng Fengjun died on July 21st, 2009. -
The Persecution Suffered by Mr. Chen Yuanlong from Fushun City Before His Death
2010-03-12In November 2002, without any evidence or an open trial, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials sentenced Mr. Chen to six years in prison. The sentence was due to be completed in November 2007. He was incarcerated in Xihu Prison in Benxi City, Liaoning Province. After several years of imprisonment and persecution, Mr. Chen was emaciated, but the persecution continued to escalate. Eventually, he was so weak that he could not even stand on his own. When the family asked to have him released for medical treatment, the prison officials refused the request. On August 20th, 2007, without anyone notifying his family, the prison took Mr. Chen home, because he was near death. During the next six months, he wasn't able to eat due the severe abuse he had suffered in prison. In the end, Mr. Chen Yuanlong passed away. -
Ms. Zhao Xiaozhen Dies as a Result of Constant Harassment by the Police
2010-03-12Before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, police from Xin'an Town and members of the Xiciting Village Security Committee threatened practitioners to not leave their homes and seized their Falun Gong books and their identification cards. Elderly Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Xiaozhen’s recorder was taken, too. Ms. Zhao was old and weak. She fell sick and was admitted to the hospital after she was threatened. On August 7th, just one day before the Olympics, policeman Liu Chengjun ordered people to watch Ms. Zhao while she was in the hospital, and ordered them to report to her if Ms. Zhao was released. Ms. Zhao died in the hospital on December 2nd, 2009. -
Daqing City Elementary School Teacher Mr. Shi Fugui Dies As a Result of Persecution
2010-03-10Mr. Shi Fugui, a teacher from the Changqing Elementary School in Daqing City, found that his diabetes and other illnesses disappeared after he began practising Falun Gong in August 1998. He was however, subjected to persecution after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999. He was held in custody and lived away from home for a total of three years. He died on August 23rd, 2009, at age 58. -
Ms. Wen Huuiying Dies in Custody in Hunan Province
2010-03-09On October 4th, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wen Huiying was arrested by Taoyuan County 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). After she was detained for one month, her family was not allowed to pick her up. They later learned that the police had changed their minds and decided to sentence her to prison instead of releasing her. The location of Ms. Wen's imprisonment was unknown, but on February 14th, 2010, when three guards took her to the hospital, she was dying. Ms. Wen died after several hours of rescue efforts. -
Ms. Jia Qiumei Arrested Again after Her Brother and Sister Died as a Result of Persecution
2010-03-09On February 3rd, 2010, police took Ms. Jia Qiumei to Harbin City and imprisoned her. Ms. Jia's older brother, Mr. Jia Yongfa, was subjected to a year of forced labour for practising Falun Gong. His term was extended by a year. He suffered many forms of torture. He died as a result of the persecution on November 29th, 2001, at the Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Jia's younger sister, Ms. Jia Dongmei, was arrested on August 1st, 2001. She was imprisoned at the Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. After her prison term ended on July 31st, 2002, officers from the Hebei Domestic Security Division took her back to Hebei but kept her imprisoned. She was finally released when she was in critical condition. She died on May 19th, 2003, twelve days after her release. -
Factory Manager Ms. Luo Junling Died as a Result of Torture

After Ms. Luo Junling was arrested for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong, she was subjected to all kinds of torture, including being hung up by her handcuffed wrists, as well as beatings, and sleep deprivation. When Luo Junling was released on November 4th, 2003, she was unable to speak and extremely emaciated and weak. She was also mentally traumatised, and her whole body was bloody and covered with wounds. She died on January 2nd, 2004. -
Family of Practitioners Devastated by Persecution in Yanji City, Jilin Province
2010-02-28Officials and two male former Falun Gong practitioners arrived at 63-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yin Fengqin's home on January 29th, 2010 and tried to "reform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her and her husband Yang Fujin, who was paralysed as a result of persecution. Ms. Yin Fengqin did not co-operate with the officials' illegal act. They called for reinforcement from the Yanji City Domestic Security Division and tried to arrest Yin Fengqin. She slipped and fell from her fifth floor apartment balcony during the struggle, shattered the back of her skull and fractured her arms and legs, and her ribs protruded through the skin. She was dead on arrival at Yanbian Hospital. -
Chibi City Practitioner Mr. Zhong Shoubang's Family Tragedy
2010-02-28Mr. Zhong Shoubang was 28 years old in 2006. He had previously served three years in the Shizishan Forced Labour Camp. Lushuihu Scenic Area Police Department officer Huang Huaquan and others arrested him at home in early June 2006. He was held at Chibi City No. 1 Detention Centre for nearly four months before being sentenced to three years of forced labour and sent to the Shayang Forced Labour Camp. Long-term isolation from the outside and torture devastated Mr. Zhong physically and mentally. His eyesight was severely impaired, and his health was very poor. However, he managed to escape during washing time one morning. The labour camp authorities were in a panic and mobilised all their forces to seize him. They had him back by 3:00 p.m. that day. -
Mr. Yu Lianhe Beaten to Death at Shiling Prison in Siping City
2010-02-26On September 17th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Lianhe was sentenced to three years' imprisonment. He was sent to the Shiling Prison in Siping City, Jilin Province, on October 2nd. On November 22nd, four prisoners severely beat Mr. Yu and he died as a result of the beating. Mr. Yu's family hired a forensic medical expert, who was also a professor from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The expert performed the autopsy with two other experts, who were appointed by the prison, in front of the family members and prison guards. The experts found that Mr. Yu had blood in his right ear and bruises in his eyes. Mr. Yu's chest cavity was full of blood, approximately 1.5 litres. His spleen was ruptured in three places and the tissue surrounding the spleen was injured and had haemorrhaged. -
Disabled Practitioner Ms. Gao Qiying Dies in Custody
2010-02-23On June 12th, 2008, a few dozen officers stormed into practitioner Ms. Gao Qiying's home, took her computer and printer and detained her in the Nanbai Town Detention Centre, where she was tortured until she was in critical condition and hospitalised. The doctor had her tied up on a bed and was giving her intravenous injections. She was sentenced to prison from October to November 2008, and then transferred to the Yangai prison. Her family visited her at the end of January 2010 and she did not look ill, but Ms. Gao told them the prison administration forced her to take unknown drugs, which caused her to lose feeling in her feet. On February 11th, Ms. Gao was taken to the Guiyang City Police Hospital and died on February 12th. -
Three Older Practitioners Die as a Result of Persecution
2010-02-23Mr. Xu Baiyi died at the age of 55, on January 29th, 2010. He was tortured in the Jilin Province Prison since 2002. Two years ago he became paralysed from the abuse. When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in 1999, Mr. Xu went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong. He was subsequently arrested many times and he eventually lost his business and his family. When Mr. Xu was imprisoned in 2000 at the Huanxiling Forced Labour Camp in Jilin City, Jilin Province, he was injected with unknown drugs. As a result, his teeth were damaged and he had difficulty eating. -
Mr. Dong Fengshan and Mr. Yu Lianhe Beaten to Death--Prison Guard Hao Yulin Is Accountable
2010-02-20Mr. Dong Fengshan was secretly sentenced to nine years of imprisonment and sent to the Siping City Prison on October 23rd, 2008. Only six days after that, he was killed. On October 2nd, 2009, Mr. Yu was jailed in Shiling Prison, Siping City, Jilin Province. Mr. Yu was cruelly beaten on November 22nd, by four inmates convicted of criminal charges, and he died after being sent to the hospital for emergency rescue. The autopsy revealed blood in his right ear, a bruised eye, and 1,500 ml. of blood deposits in his chest cavity. His spleen was found to have three ruptures caused by heavy blows, and the internal tissue around the spleen were found to be bruised.
