PRESS FREEDOM - RSF calls on President Bush to intervene after arrest of seven foreign journalists in China
2002-02-17Reporters Without Borders (RSF) called on US President George W. Bush to intervene with Chinese President Jiang Zemin during his forthcoming visit to China to try to end the harassment of foreign journalists covering demonstrations by the banned spiritual movement Falun Gong. Seven foreign reporters were arrested in Beijings Tienanmen Square on 14 February while covering the arrest of members of the movement protesting there. -
Swedish falungong practitioners still kept in China
2002-02-17Three Swedish falungong practitioners are still in China this Friday, the Falungong movement in Sweden announced. One of the three is detained by the police in Beijing. He came out from the plane with a pair of torn trousers which were torn when he was knocked down by the police at Tiananmen Square.
