On June the 11th, German practitioners appealed at the Chinese Consulate in Munich to urge the unconditional release of Beijing Dafa practitioner Chen Jie, who was a staff member of Beijing Youan Hospital’s Laboratory Centre. Shortly after the Jiang regime launched the persecution against Falun Gong on July the 20th 1999, Chen Jie went to appeal in Beijing, urging the government to understand that Falun Gong is a very good cultivation practice, which can help people heal illnesses, keep fit and become kind-hearted. In 2001, she was illegally arrested and sent to a brainwashing centre for several months after she refused to participate in a campaign launched by the government at all levels in Beijing to solicit one million signatures defaming Falun Gong. On June the 2nd 2004, she was illegally arrested at home again by Shijingshan District’s police, and sent to a brainwashing centre. They also conducted a search of her home. At present her six-year-old son cannot be looked after by his mother. Her husband does not practise Falun Gong, and he is too worried to work normally.

Since the Jiang regime started to persecute Falun Gong, more than one hundred thousand Falun Gong practitioners have been imprisoned in forced labour camps, prisons or mental hospitals because they have refused to give up their belief. 108 Falun Gong practitioners were sentenced from five to thirteen years in prison respectively because they exposed the facts about the persecution on the Internet. Twenty among them were university professors or the students of graduate schools. At least nine hundred and sixty eight Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death, and more than fifty of them were confirmed dead in the first half of this year.

Chen Jie’s younger brother and mother were among the Dafa practitioners who participated in the activities in Munich. Chen Jie’s younger brother Chen Gang is a student at Munich University. Simply because he practises Falun Gong, his application for a visa extension was denied by the Chinese Consulate in Munich, which has caused a tremendous impact on his studies and life there. Chen Jie’s mother was once forced to leave home and wander about in China for more than two years because she refused to give up her belief. She finally managed to make it to Germany recently.

At the Chinese Consulate in Munich, practitioners unfurled banners reading “Bring Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Liu Jing, and Zhou Yongkang to Trial,” and displayed photos of practitioners undergoing cruel torture, as well as pictures of those who were persecuted to death. In addition, they also displayed banners reading “Release Chen Jie”, “Return My Daughter”, “Return My Elder Sister,” etc. They also kept sending righteous thoughts and practising the five sets of exercises. After reading the banners and the display boards, passersby were shocked to learn that people who cultivate “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance” are persecuted so cruelly in China. Particularly after learning that Chen Jie’s mother was on the scene, they immediately signed the petition to support the appeal to “Bringing Jiang Zemin to Justice.”

During the activity, an elderly man mistook us for another group and shouted loudly at us without listening to our explanation. The policeman on duty came over and told him, “Please calm down. These Falun Gong practitioners are very peaceful. You should let them practise the exercises peacefully.” The elderly man subsequently calmed down and listened to practitioners’ explanations, and talked to them for a long while.

Shortly before the appeal was concluded, sudden heavy rain drenched the practitioners. However, they insisted on sending righteous thoughts in the rain without being affected. A man sitting in a coffee shop was so moved by the scene that he insisted on treating every practitioner to a cup of hot tea. The policeman on duty there also kindly reminded practitioners not to catch cold.
