Monday 29th October 2001

There are five practitioners in our group: three are from Germany, one from America and one from Belgium. Therefore our group is able to speak English, French and German. Today we visited the city council, the King, the foreign ministry and the parliament of Rothenburg. As soon as we reached the parliament an official received us kindly. Having heard that we had come a long way and still need to continue walking the next day, he offered us great support. The foreign ministry changed their formal attitude immediately after we told them about the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution by the Chinese government. They helped us to contact an official in charge of international relations, who then managed to hold a press release conference for us a week later.

A youth in Rotherburg volunteered to be our guide through the city. We told him that in two years China’s state terrorism had killed many who cultivated Truth-Compassion-Forebearance. Since the Chinese media never reported it, people around the world were not aware of the persecution at all. The youth expressed that no matter how secretly murders were carried out, they would eventually be exposed to the public. Paper cannot cover fire.

When we gave out leaflets at the train station, we managed to give over 2000 German copies and not a single one was thrown away. Practitioners from France emailed us that, all the local and central governments that the SOS team visited have responded, and that the mayor of Paris had written to support Falun Gong. There have also been many support letters from the local governments which are published on the Minghui.net website. The French practitioners told us that we contributed significantly to the positive attitude of the French politicians.

In Rothenberg there are no practitioners and nobody has been able to obtain Falun Gong. The king was away and so was the city mayor. The foreign minister was sick on the day we visited.

The word Rothenberg means in German “a luxurious castle”. We realised that the country is so wealthy that it is packed with banks. It also offers cheap petrol and discount taxes rates which attract may German millionaires.

Today we also went to a major newspaper company in Rothenberg to reveal the truth. Then we went to the largest TV media RTL and handed a petition letter. When people were told that the SOS walk had been carried out for over a month their attitude changed significantly. We were kindly received and our letter was accepted.

This morning we went to Kuntz city council. The city is the first one we passed in Germany. The mayor’s representative and a journalist met us. We revealed truth of the brutal persecution by the Jiang zemin regime, and the 610 office, as well as the call for the release of Zhao Ming. We took photos together before we left.

After that we walked for about 7 miles and reached Karl Marx’s hometown, Trier. It was such a coincidence that the city was holding an exhibition of anti terrorism. There we also met a group of 30 people from China. They would not listen to one single true word we said. However they were also careful when referring to Falun Gong issues. When we asked them, “If you do not even believe in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, then what else do you believe in?” None of them was able to say a thing and the expression on their faces was just complicated. The Jiang zemin regime has made the people afraid to express true thoughts. Can anyone imagine the possible future for such a country?

There was also a kind lady who volunteered to help us to find the mayor. Afterwards she insisted on walking us out of the city. (It would have been a very long walk for us had she not showed us the short cut.)

The city Swisis, about 20 miles away, was our next destination. When walking on the highway we were stopped by the police. After we told the police of the persecution they were no longer angry with us. They offered to take us to Swisis by car. But we told them that “Truth” meant that we had to walk ourselves. The police then took us to some smaller roads because it was safer for us to walk there.

The city Swisis offered us their church to spend the night. By chance a local politician was having a walk after dinner and saw us. He joined our video workshop until 9pm and volunteered to take us to Chinese restaurants and to meet the mayor. He also said he would hand our letter to the German prime minister. He said that the Prime Minister had not condemned China for its brutal persecution, but it did not represent the views of the German people.

Today was the All Saints Day, which means that every one is a saint. Therefore anyone and anything today is divine. But we really do not approve to the name. After all, what people do on All Saints Day is to memorize their dead family members. We decided to go to the capital Berlin.

The day was nice and sunny all the time until we reached Berlin. We then performed the righteous thoughts meditation and then the sun came out again. There we met the practitioners in Berlin and we had some really good experiences sharing. We studied the Fa together [Principles of Falun Gong].

This morning we went to hand letters to the German Prime Minister, the President, the Foreign Ministry and the Government of the City of Berlin. The Germens are very conservative and said that we must have appointments first. But in the end they did accept our letters because of our long walk. Before we left, the mayor’s secretary had a very friendly chat with us and asked to take photos together.

When it reached night time we continued our Fa study [Principles of Falun Gong] with the Berlin practitioners. The righteous cultivation has come from America to Germany. Many were in deep thoughts on that night.

We walked a few circles in the city of Berlin, we were able to give out leaflets really quickly. Some Berlin practitioners also joined us and soon we were able to expand to more than ten people. The police then said to us that a scale more than ten people would require permission from the police station. We took the opportunity to tell the truth to the police. A policewoman offered help to obtain the permission for that day and the following one.

In Germany there are many limitations and regulations. We took the opportunities to reveal the truth to the people of Berlin, especially the police on duty on the day. In the evening we shared our experiences. In the SOS walk team there is an IT consultant practitioner from Boston. When he told his boss that he would like to go on a SOS walk, the company was just cutting down employment after the 11 September accident. The boss, however, rather than sacking him for such a long leave, gave him 5 months salaries in advance and asked him to return to the company after the walk.

We continued walking as we did yesterday. A western practitioner who attended yesterday’s activities came to join us again. We had some good news today:

1. Practitioners from Austria called and told us that they had been waiting for us to attend a special Fa conference when we enter the country. Many local practitioners had volunteered to join our walk.
2. A practitioner from Taiwan emailed and said he wished to join the European SOS walking team.
3. A small sub-group will depart for Czech Republic soon. We have been busy making materials in Czech language for them
4. A sub-group of Berlin-Munich has formed and will depart for their route.
5. Two Berlin practitioners volunteered to let us use their cars for luggage transportation, despite that they are not able to join the walk themselves
6. Two practitioners from Fonda and Frankfurt volunteered to join our team
7. An American practitioner and two Belgium practitioners will join our team in three days.
