    Because she was very determined in cultivating Dafa, living a decent life, being kind to others she was senselessly detained in the Banqiao Female Labour Camp in Tianjin City for 2 years. While in detention, she was subjected to various tortures. Under the instigation of the police, drug addicts there beat her savagely. They also sealed her mouth with tape to prevent her from talking. Not long after she was released, she was arrested again and sent to the Jianxin Female Labour Camp in Tianjin City. In order to protest her illegal detention, she went on a hunger strike.

During the morning of May 20, several police again abducted her and sent her to the Sanli Street Police Station. Later, they tried to send her to a forced labour camp and threatened her, hoping to make her divulge the names of other practitioners. Because Zhu Zongxia didn't cooperate, they became furious and brutally beat her.

  • Belated News: Death of Elderly Female Dafa Practitioner as a Result of Torture at the Hands of Beijing Police

    The next day, the cowardly police became worried she would die, so they sent her to a hospital. A doctor said, "She can live at most two to three months." The police was afraid of taking responsibility so they released her. With great fortitude, Ho Lijun went home by herself. Because her internal organs were severely damaged, she died in March 2001.

    Later, she was found dead beside a sink outside the workshop. Wang Yan, the labour camp chief, said that Sun Guilan, "hung herself on a rope from the water pipe in the toilet." However, according to observations, the water pipe is less than one metre above the floor, so it would have been impossible for Sun Guilan to die from hanging on this pipe. The labour camp tried to use various means to cover up Sun Guilan's death.

    To protest the brutal torture, Di Wanqing and other practitioners held a hunger strike. They were brutally and frequently force-fed. Because of this long-term torture, Di Wanqing developed severe oedema, with extra fluid in his stomach and intestines. He couldn't move and was on the verge of death. The guards quickly sent him home to avoid responsibility for their actions and his condition. Unable to recover, Mr. Di Wanqing passed away on May 1, 2003.
  • Elderly Practitioner Dies at Hands of Wuan City Police

    Because medical examinations indicated that he was very weak, the labour camp refused to take him. He was therefore taken back to the detention centre. Because of the brutal torture he received, his legs were swollen and he had difficulty swallowing food. Seeing that he was in critical condition, the detention centre extorted 3000 Yuan from his family and asked them to take him home.
  • Further Evidence to Incriminate Jinzhou Forced Labour Camp for Death of Practitioner Shi Zhongyan

    Around April 23, as a result of relentless persecution, Mr. Shi's life was in danger, and he was sent to the emergency room of the 205 Hospital (Military Hospital in Jinzhou City). On the morning of April 25, some time past 6:00 am, labour camp policeman Zhang Jiabin called the Shi family. He claimed that Shi Zhongyan suddenly fell ill; he was in a coma and had difficulty in breathing, so he was sent to the Hospital. An eyewitness said that Mr. Shi was extremely thin, his toes were dark purple with one of them covered with dried blood, and he was in a deep coma.

    In March the police arrested dozens of Dafa practitioners and put them into the detention centre. They brutally beat and force-fed the practitioners. Moreover, they shackled practitioners' hands and feet together, sometimes for over 20 days. Under the constraint of the heavy shackles, practitioners could not squat down, nor could they sit up straight, causing immense pain. They couldn't go to the toilet, either. Kicking and beating by the guards were commonplace here.

    They beat him so severely that they broke his eardrum, almost causing permanent hearing loss; they broke his teeth; and the criminal prisoners rode on top of his back to humiliate him. He went on hunger strike to protest. The Director of the labour camp told his family that he was not aware of any beatings, and promised his family that they would not hurt him. However, after making this promise, the persecution became even more vicious. On October 2, 2000, in order to resist the persecution, Mr. Shi refused to do any labour. The labour camp, as a form of punishment, forced him to sit on a bench in a fixed position from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day.
