• Disabled Person in Hebei Province Severely Persecuted for Aiding Practitioners

  On May 7th, 2008, disabled Mr. Niu Jiming took Ms. Chen Liguan, and Ms. Jin Shuxia to Biguyou Village by tricycle. Ms. Chen and Ms. Jin went to do their business, while Niu waited by the roadside for their return. A villager found that Ms. Jin was distributing Falun Gong materials and summoned the police. The police took all three to the police station. Later, Mr. Niu and the practitioner, Ms. Jin, were sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Niu's offence was "obstructing justice through an organization" on account of the DVD and fliers belonging to Ms. Jin and Ms. Chen that were found on Niu's tricycle on May 7th.

• Many Practitioners in Shangqiu, Henan Province, Have Been Sentenced

  On April 6th, 2008, Mr. Ba Wei and Ms. He Yinghua from Shangqiu, Henan Province, were arrested by police from the national security team in the Mudan District, Heze, Shandong Province, when they were trying to rescue other practitioners from Dan County, Shandong Province. This was believed to have been a premeditated arrest, since family members of the arrested practitioners were persecuted and then cooperated with Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents. That night, Ms. He escaped. Mr. Ba, Mr. Lao Zhou, and other practitioners were sent to the No. 2 Forced Labour Camp of Shandong Province on May 5th. Mr. Ba was sentenced to a forced labour camp for two years.

• Many Practitioners Arrested Recently in Zhucheng City, Shandong Province

  Around the first of November in 2008, the Zhucheng City party secretary, Zou Qingzhong, received a phone call from a Falun Gong practitioner who was telling him the facts about Falun Gong and that Falun Gong teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance. He became very upset and ordered the police in his jurisdiction to severely persecute Falun Gong practitioners through 2008. Many practitioners have since been arrested and subjected to brainwashing.

• Police Arrest Dozens of Practitioners' Relatives and Friends during Trial in Mudanjiang City

  On November 28th, 2008, the Heilongjiang Provincial Mudanjiang Municipal Xi'an District Court held a trial against four Falun Gong practitioners. Relatives and friends of these four practitioners came to the court, their IDs were inspected, and only the practitioners' close family members were allowed to enter. Some of the people who were not allowed to watch the trial went to negotiate with the court staff, but they were threatened by court personnel using very coarse language. The police started to arrest the relatives and friends who were peacefully waiting to hear the result of the trial without explanation.

• Authorities of Dayangshu Town in Hulunbuir Prefecture Launched Another Round of Arrests in November

  At about 3 p.m. on November 19th, 2008, authorities from Dayangshu Town dispatched 9 police cars and nearly 30 police officers to carry out a premeditated plan to search the homes of nine practitioners and arrest them. Police officers were heavily armed. The police searched their homes and arrested the practitioners. Elderly and disabled family members were upset and frightened by the incident.

• Mo'erdaoga Forest Police Department Persecutes Practitioners in Inner Mongolia

  Practitioner Ms. Wang Shuwen, 62, has been harassed many times by police officers. On May 30th, 2002, eight or nine officers from the Mo'erdaoga Forest Police Department arrested Ms. Wang, searched her home, and confiscated many Falun Gong books. Ms. Wang was detained for two months. While she was in detention, officers went to her home, and harassed and threatened her family. In May 2008, approximately six officers searched Ms. Wang's home. In August, Mo'erdaoga Police Station officers harassed Ms. Wang at home. In September, once again officers from the Mo'erdaoga Police Station harassed her.

• Ms. Wang Fengjuan from Jilin Province Detained in the Kunming City Forced Labour Camp

  Because of harassment from the local police, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Fengjun was forced to leave home and go to work in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, in June 2008. She was arrested just ten days after arriving in Yunnan Province, and sentenced to three years of forced labour. She is now in the Kunming City Forced Labour Camp. In the morning, Ms. Wang is forced to write statements renouncing her belief; in the afternoon, she has to do hard labour.

• 300 Practitioners Arrested, 30 Detained in a Forced Labour Camp, 2000 Yuan Extorted from Each

  Sun Jinbo and Wang Fucai, directors of the 610 Office, have given orders to ransack and arrest Falun Gong practitioners. Their slogan was, "Arrest 300 practitioners, detain 30 in a forced labour camp, and extort 2,000 yuan from each one." Simultaneously, they told the public by TV propaganda to report practitioners to the police, and they could receive 200 to 1,000 yuan for reporting each practitioner. During the Olympic Games, nearly 100 practitioners were arrested, 13 were put in forced labour camps, and over 30 were detained in a brainwashing centre.

• Friends and Family Arrested While Practitioners on Trial in Heilongjiang Province

  On November 28th, 2008, four practitioners were tried in Xi'an District Court in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province. The use of cruel torture was revealed to the court. One of the ways Mr. Li Yongsheng was tortured by domestic security officer Peng Fuming was "Tying the ropes". Mr. Li was also brutally beaten. The Court did not allow spectators to sit in the courtroom for this public trial, and guards chased away all the families who were waiting outside the court. Officers from Domestic Security ordered several dozen police officers to arrest the families and fellow practitioners of the defendants. At least 37 people that were outside the courtroom have gone missing. Some have been taken to a detention centre.

• Ms. Wang Haitian is Arrested in Luanda County, Hebei Province

  On November 23rd, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Haitian and another practitioner went to Madamiao Village to distribute Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. They were reported to the village committee and police. Approximately four or five police officers arrested the two practitioners. Ms. Wang and another practitioner were taken to an office of the County Domestic Security Division. Police asked Yin Yulan, the deputy director of the county 610 Office, to come to torture them. The police claim that on November 23rd, 2008, they took Ms. Wang to another place, but no information or details were available.

• Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Personnel from Fuping County, Baoding City, Persecute Three Older Practitioners Prior to the Olympics

  On July 11th, 2008, 57-year-old Elementary School teacher Yang Shengli and retired teacher Sun Mingrong 58, a couple, were getting ready to go to their son's wedding. In the evening, over 20 policemen together with some people from the Datai County government stormed into their home, confiscated their property and arrested them. Sun Mingrong was imprisoned in a forced labour camp for three months and was injected with unknown drugs. After the injection Sun could not recall what happened afterwards. Arriving at the forced labour camp Sun regained consciousness but was not able to walk. Yang Shengli was imprisoned in a detention centre for two weeks and was then sent to the County Hospital under house arrest. On September 1st, Yang was released but is still being monitored.

• Shuangyashan City Court Plans to Sentence Older Practitioners Ms. Wang Yaojun and Ms. Guo Shuzhen

  The Jianshan District Court in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, plans to sentence Ms. Wang Yaojun and Ms. Guo Shuzhen, both over 60, on November 26th, 2008. In Shuangshan Police Station, officers tried to coerce Ms. Wang Yaojun into writing a statement to give up Falun Gong, but she refused. She was then handcuffed and shackled with over 40 pounds of chains. She was tortured into giving confessions for three days and two nights. Her eyes were battered and turned black. In addition, on November 18th, Ms. Guo's daughter and eight other Falun Gong practitioners were sentenced by the Baoqing County Court in Shuangyashan City.

• Ms. Zhao Yabin from Tangshan City Sentenced to Seven Years' Imprisonment

  In July 2008, 46-year-old Ms. Zhao Yabin was arrested by police in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. The police also searched her home. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel fabricated interrogation transcripts and a list of confiscated items for the purpose of framing Ms. Zhao. Ms. Zhao was recently sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, and she is currently being detained in the Tangshan First Detention Centre.

• Qi Changrong, Song Hongcui and Bai Hong from Tanggu District, Tianjin City Sentenced to Prison

  On August 10th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners, Qi Changrong, Song Hongcui and Bai Hong were secretly sentenced after having been detained in a detention centre for seven months. Qi Changrong was sentenced to five years of imprisonment, and Song Hongcui and Bai Hong were both sentenced to three years. They have now been transferred to Tianjin No. 2 Prison. Their relatives never received any notification from either the Domestic Security Division, 610 Office, court or prison, nor have they ever received any information of legal procedures against any of the practitioners. As of today, their relatives are still not allowed to meet with them.

• Call for Rescuing Mr. Lei Anxiang, Who Was Sentenced by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

  On May 10th, 2008, police searched Mr. Lu Jiabin's apartment and arrested him. Mr. Lei Anxing was also arrested because he happened to go to the apartment to get tools at that time. Mr. Lei was detained in the Chenzhou Detention Centre. The police took the Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution he carried with him as "criminal evidence." He was sentenced to three years in prison. In 2004, Mr. Lei Anxiang was arrested and taken to the Huadu Forced Labour Camp. He endured three months of brutal brainwashing. The guards ordered detainees to stab his body with large steel needles. They forced Mr. Lei to kneel down and placed a bamboo stick on his shins. Several people took turns stepping on the stick and rolling it, which caused them to bleed.
