  • 65-Year-Old Mr. Liang Weisheng from Beijing Faces Sentencing

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liang Weisheng was arrested on April 26th, 2011. He was first held in the Nihe Detention Centre and then transferred to the No. 7 Section of the Beijing Police Department, and finally transferred back to the Nihe Detention Centre in August. Shunyi Domestic Security Division officers and 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) collaborated with the Procuratorate in an attempt to have the court officials sentence Mr. Liang to imprisonment. It has been nearly five months since Mr. Liang was arrested. The domestic security division officers have forbidden his family to visit him.
  • Ms. Chen Min Severely Persecuted at Harbin Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Min, 39, was sentenced to forced labour for one and a half years by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities, for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. She has suffered severe persecution since being taken to Harbin Women's Rehabilitation Labour Camp. The guards locked her up in a solitary confinement cell and forced her to sit on a small stool for prolonged periods of time. She was forced to get up before 5:00 a.m. and not allowed to go to bed before 10:00 p.m. She was forced to do slave labour. Ms. Chen lost consciousness and fell on her way upstairs on the morning of August 18th.

    Standard medical procedure dictates that patients with large areas of burned skin be placed in an isolated, sterile room, because the burned area needs to be exposed to the air. Yet, when we look at the CCTV footage, we see that the patient is in an open room. We also see that the patient is wrapped in thick layers of gauze bandages and that the nurse is not wearing a mask. Neither is the reporter wearing a mask, gloves, or any sterile clothing. Why would a patient in such critical condition with such serious burns be treated so casually?
  • Ms. Li Liancai from Ningjin County, Hebei Province Harassed and Forced to Leave Home

    Ms. Li Liancai and her husband Mr. Yang Qiusheng are Falun Gong practitioners from Xingtai City, Hebei Province. Police broke into their and ransacked it on September 8th. The police also ransacked their son’s home and then attempted to take Ms. Li into custody. Ms. Li managed to escape being arrested, but she had to leave her home to evade further persecution. The vegetables on her farm withered and died because no one tended them. Due to the regime's irrational persecution, her family has suffered economic and mental hardships.
  • Mr. Sun Changjun, the Only Survivor of the Falun Gong Cable TV Broadcasts in Changchun City, on the Verge of Death

    Mr. Sun Changjun, 35, was among those who were arrested and severely punished after a successful attempt to broadcast videos explaining the true situation about the persecution of Falun Gong over cable TV in China's Changchun City. The broadcasts, which occurred in March 2002, involved tapping into the state-run cable TV network and pre-empting regular programming. Mr. Sun was sentenced to 17 years in prison and is being held in Jilin Prison. The long-term brutal mistreatment has left him with a severe case of tuberculosis, and he is as thin as a skeleton and dying.
  • Mr. Shao Chengluo Suffers Various Tortures in Shandong Province Prison

    Mr. Shao Chengluo, 58, is a respected doctor of Chinese medicine with more than 20 years of experience. In 2006 he was sentenced to seven years in prison for practising Falun Gong. He has been suffering various tortures in the Shandong Province Prison, such as “three bald” - yanking out his hair, beard and eyebrows, twisting objects between his fingers, beating him in the chest, beating the buttocks until the skin breaks and then putting salt on the wounds. He became disabled in less than three years.

    Wang Jindong and Liu Baorong, two of the "self-immolators," appeared on CCTV to give multiple interviews. The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) conducted a study through computer speech analysis. They concluded that the Wang and Liu in the first video were not the same as the Wang and Liu in the second video. According to a WOIPFG spokesperson, a reliable source from China revealed that the Wang Jindong in the self-immolation was actually a People's Liberation Army officer.
  • Two Female Teachers from Diaobingshan City, Liaoning Province Taken to Fushun Brainwashing Centre

    Three practitioners were arrested from their workplace on September 19th. They were later taken to the Fushun Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Chen Hong kept telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She was released when the brainwashing centre authorities refused to admit her because of her health. Ms. Chou and Ms. Zhang are being held at the brainwashing centre. Both Ms. Chou and Ms. Zhang were charged 5,000 yuan for so-called “tuition” into the centre. The brainwashing sessions last one month.
  • Lin Hongjun and Practitioners from Baoji, Shanxi Province Tortured in Prison

    In February 2009, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Lin Hongjun and Mr. Xi Shuangsheng were sentenced to three-year and eight-year prison terms, respectively. On August 16th, Lin Hongjun was finally released, but was emaciated and mentally unstable as a result of being tortured in the prison. Mr. Luo Yanting was arrested by Baoji 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in June 2004. He was subsequently sentenced to seven years in prison and was finally released in May 2010. He was arrested again on July 27th, 2011, and is currently being held at the Jintai District Detention Centre.

    Doing a slow-motion sequence of the Chinese Central TV (CCTV) programme of the "Self-Immolation" on Tiananmen Square in January 20011 shows that one of the women, Liu Chunling--who in the Xinhua (Chinese Communist Party's official mouthpiece) version of events supposedly died from burn injuries--actually received a sharp blow to the forehead, with what looks like a metal bar, delivered by a man wearing an army overcoat. She is seen crumpling instantly to the ground and most likely died from that blow. The man wearing a military coat was clearly not attempting to rescue Liu Chunling. Who is he? Why would he murder Liu Chunling?
  • Highly Educated Couple from Jilin University Arrested

    Dr. Song Zhaoxia and her husband, Dr. Wang Yuejian, were arrested on September 9th, by police. Their son, who attends elementary school, was left at home alone. He has not been to school for many days, because he misses his parents. The couple has been repeatedly persecuted, because both practise Falun Gong. In March 2006, Dr. Wang Yuejian was arrested by police. His home was ransacked and personal belongings were confiscated, including a computer and a printer. After been detained at the Third Detention Centre for one year, he was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour on March 15th, 2007, by officials from the Public Security Bureau in Changchun City. They admitted him to Fenjin Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City on March 16th.
  • Mr. Pan Kaixiang from Hongzhou Arrested

    Early on morning of September 7th, Mr. Pan Kaixiang and his wife went outdoors. About 20 people suddenly rushed over and pushed him down, then forced him into a vehicle. They also grabbed the laptop Mr. Pan had brought with him. They did not present any identification nor give Mr. Pan's family any written or oral explanation. Mr. Pan's wife went to the neighbourhood community association to request her husband's release. The neighbourhood community association refused to tell her where Mr. Pan was.
  • Dalian Police Use the “Triad Method” in Persecuting Falun Gong Practitioners

    On June 29th, 2011, officers from the Zhongchang Police Department of Jinzhou, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, used the “triad method” (detention, brainwashing, surveillance) in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners Qin Yulan and Hou Chunli. After being detained for 30 days, they were sent to Longwangmiao Nursing Home, a so-called “Caring School of Ideological Education” (which is actually a brainwashing centre set up to persecute Falun Gong practitioners). They lost their personal freedom. Qin Yulan and Hou Chunli are still being harassed by the district staff members.
  • Family Members Threatened for Requesting Release of Arrested Practitioners

    On August 6th, four Falun Gong practitioners, Liu Shaozai, Mai Weilian, Pan Guihui, and Hong Meifang were arrested by agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). They were sent to a brainwashing centre. The family members of these practitioners went to various departments to request their release. Mr. Liu is currently suffering because he has a large amount of blood in his stool. Hence, his family members are urging officials to release him. However, Mr. Wu, the deputy Party secretary from Shiudong Town, went to Liu's home and threatened his family.
  • Ms. Liu Kaimei in Critical Condition at Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Ms. Liu Kaimei and her husband, Mr. Zhang Xuefeng, have been arrested many times and were fired from their jobs because they practise Falun Gong. Ms. Liu was arrested in June 2000, and was then sentenced to seven years in Nantong Women's Prison by the Xiaguan District Court in August 2002. Mr. Zhang was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison by the same court. He was repeatedly put in solitary confinement for long periods of time, and was denied visitation. Ms. Liu and Mr. Zhang were last arrested at home on May 16th, 2011. Ms. Liu was taken to Nanjing Detention Centre, and was later sentenced to one year in Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Liu held a hunger strike, and later suffered a cardiac arrest.
