RFA: International Human Rights Association Passes a Resolution Condemning the Chinese Government's Human Rights Abuses
2004-04-18The annual general meeting of the International Human Rights Association, which is based in Germany, was held in Frankfurt. Several representatives from China and Hong Kong were invited to attend to report on China's human rights situation. Mr. Wu Hongda, a Chinese human rights activist, as well as persecuted Falun Gong practitioners were also invited to address the meeting. The following report is based on German reporter Tian Yi’s broadcast for Radio Free Asia. -

Sweden: Practitioners Appealed for an End to the Persecution during the Chinese Foreign Minister's Visit
2004-04-18On April the 15th, when the Chinese Foreign Minister visited Sweden, practitioners gathered in front of the Swedish Parliament, appealed for an end of the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, told the truth about the persecution to the people passing by, and demanded that those responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners be brought to justice. -
Geneva: Zhang Cuiying Files a Petition against Jiang Zemin to the United Nations Human Rights Commission
2004-04-17At 3pm on April the 7th 2004, renowned Chinese Australian artist and Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Cuiying filed a petition to the United Nations human Rights Commission via human rights attorney Mr. Christ Nyst. The petition is against Jiang Zemin who initiated the persecution against Falun Gong in China. This is the first case filed by an individual to the United Nations on the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. -
Special Forum Entitled 'Slavery Economy in China’s Labour Camps' is Held in Geneva
2004-04-17The 60th UN Human Rights Commission is taking place in Geneva at the moment. A joint action organisation, consisting of international and Swiss NGOs, is seeking to carry China to a real democracy. The organisation's first special forum was held at “Family Society” in Geneva: "The Slave Economy in China's Labour Camps". -
UK: Falun Gong Practitioners Participate and Perform in the Edinburgh Easter Parade
2004-04-17The Edinburgh Easter Parade has become a special attraction during the Edinburgh Spring Festival and attracts many people to come and take a look. Falun Gong practitioners have been invited twice to take part in the parade. On April 11th, performances by Falun Gong practitioners were warmly welcomed by local people. -

2004-04-16On April the 6th, during the annual meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC), the World Women's Organisation (USA) staged a seminar on Human Rights in the Chinese educational system. World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) president John Jaw, Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Ming and Australian human rights lawyer Christopher Nyst were invited to this seminar. -

2004-04-15Czech Falun Gong practitioners organised a Press Conference outside the seat of the President's Office. Several VIPs joined the appeal with a statement, “We join the appeal to stop the persecution of Falun Gong members and other prisoners of conscience in China and call on the President Mr Vaclav Klaus to unambiguously express support to these people.“ -

2004-04-15Commenting on the report of a special correspondent at the UNHRC for freedom of Religion and Belief, China’s claims concerning Xiong Wei are as follows: "In its work, the Beijing women's labour re-education facility strictly abides by the principles that inmates should be re-educated, guided by persuasion and thus reformed. The management methods that it applies are legal, civilised and scientific and no form of corporal punishment or ill-treatment is ever used against those undergoing labour re-education." -

2004-04-15"My name is Yoko Kaneko. I was born in China. I am now residing in Japan. I am a practitioner of Falun Gong. I travelled back to China from Japan on May the 24th 2002. I was arrested and put in labour camp without trial only for handing out Falun Gong fliers on the streets in Beijing. I was released after one and a half years. Here I would like to share some of my sufferings while under detention."
