Teacher Handcuffed and Shackled for Two Weeks for Answering Survey Truthfully

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiaojie answered a survey honestly stating that detainees in the Qinhuangdao City Detention Centre are forced to do hard labour producing paper boxes for famous bakeries and the daily workload for each inmate has increased from several hundred to more than 2,000 boxes a day. In response, officer Hu Wei put shackles on Ms. Zhang's hands and feet and immobilized her in the detention centre for half a month. The shackles weighed several dozen pounds. -
Ms. Zhao Zhiyun Dies from Years of Torture and Harassment
2014-02-19Ms. Zhao Zhiyun from Baoding City, Hebei Province died on December 26th, 2013, as a result of repeated arrests, torture, forced labour, surveillance and harassment in the persecution of Falun Gong. When Ms. Zhao was detained in Mancheng County Detention Centre in 2001, she was subjected to force-feeding twice a day for 30 days. Guards inserted a two-foot long rubber pipe into her stomach through her nostril. They force-fed Ms. Zhao with cornmeal, vegetable soup and a lot of salt. They left the pipe in her even after force-feeding. The rubber pipe stayed in her nose and stomach to keep Ms. Zhao in pain. After force-feeding, Ms. Zhao was usually left on the ground or handcuffed to an iron cage. -
Torture at the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp Causes the Death of 63-Year-Old Mr. Zhou Xueliang
2014-02-11Mr. Zhou Xueliang from Chongqing City was extremely emaciated when he was released from the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp in April 2013. He rarely spoke after returning home and whenever he tried, it prompted a coughing fit. He experienced frequent episodes of hot and cold flashes, shivering, and he was in a lot of pain. Mr. Zhou passed away on January 14th, 2014, at the age of 63. -
Slave Labour Behind Festive Strings of Lights Made in Taiyuan Detention Centre
2014-02-11People around the world often like to use colourful strings of lights to enhance the festive atmosphere when celebrating the New Year and other special occasions. However, most people are probably not aware of how these jolly items are produced: Many of them are handmade by the detainees of the Taiyuan Detention Centre in Shanxi Province, where Falun Gong practitioners and others are subjected to daily slave labour. -
Falun Gong Practitioner in Her Seventies Taken Into Custody at Midnight by 610 Office Agents
2014-02-11Practitioner Ms. Wang Guilan, who is in her seventies, went missing in November 2013. Her family later learned that Ms. Wang had been taken into custody in the middle of the night by the Huadian City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), and taken to the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre in Jilin City. The brainwashing sessions started at 8:00 a.m. daily. The content of the so-called lectures was material that slandered Falun Gong. -
Ms. Tan Guanghui Raped and Tortured by Guards at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp
2014-02-11Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tan Guanghui went to Beijing in June 2001 to appeal for Falun Gong practitioners' rights to practise their belief. She was later arrested and taken to the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp, where she was forcibly injected with nerve-damaging drugs. The guards threw her into a male cell where she was humiliated and tortured. One day, three guards took turns raping her. As a result, Ms. Tan suffered a mental collapse. -
Psychiatric Abuse: Shoe Factory Worker Suffers Mental Breakdown and Dies After Injections of Toxic Drugs
2014-02-08Over the past 14 years, psychiatric abuse has become one of the most common tortures used against Falun Gong practitioners. Completely healthy practitioners are often sent to psychiatric wards for the purpose of discrediting Falun Gong and bringing great pressure to bear on those who resolutely adhere to their faith. The most recent case is Mr. Luo Jiangping, who passed away on December 28th, 2013 at the age of 51 after telling his family that he had been injected with poisonous drugs during his final days. -
Mr. Luo Jiangping Dies from Torture and Injections of Poisonous Drugs
2014-02-08Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Luo Jiangping was arrested in January 2012 by police. He was sentenced to prison and subjected to cruel torture methods such as injection of poisonous drugs, handcuffed, feet shackled, forced intense labour, and solitary confinement at the Yunnan Province No. 1 Prison. Mr. Luo was in critical condition when he was released on medical parole on December 23rd, 2013. He passed away five days later at the age of 51. -
Mr. Cui Shuyong Dies after Years of Persecution
2014-02-08Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cui Shuyong was arrested on the eve of the Chinese New Year in 2012 while distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in a nearby village. He was taken to the Hebi Detention Centre and later sentenced to six years in prison. Mr. Cui developed tuberculosis at the detention centre. The prison refused to accept him because of his fragile health and he was released on bail. However, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) personnel continued to harass and threaten him after he returned home and his condition kept deteriorating. He passed away on November 20th, 2013. -
More Than a Decade of Persecution: Jiangxi Police Continue to Detain Falun Gong Practitioner for Her Belief
2014-02-04When the Chinese Communist Party started the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Ji Shujun, 50, was repeatedly arrested, detained and subjected to the regime's notorious “education through forced labour.” She was sentenced to three years in a labour camp in 2002 after she went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. In the Gaoyang Labour Camp, Ms. Ji was beaten with electric batons, forced to stand for prolonged periods and forced to stand outdoors in the bitter cold and snow. She staged several hunger strikes to protest the mistreatment. -
Ms. Qi Yaru on Verge of Death After Torture in Heilongjiang Women's Prison
2014-02-04Ms. Qi Yaru, 47, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. She was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison in 2012. Ms. Qi was brutally tortured in the Heilongjiang Women's Prison until she lost consciousness. The prison authorities declared, “We won't release her until she is dying.” Ms. Qi was only returned to her family on November 21st, 2013, after the prison received a medical certificate indicating that she was in a "coma and at risk of death." -
Torture Methods Used at Jilin Prison to Force Practitioners to Renounce Their Faith
2014-02-04The most cruel form of torture used at Jilin Prison is known as the "stretching bed." The victim's four limbs are tied to a special frame, which has four metal rings attached to the corners. The practitioner's hands and feet are affixed to the rings, and force is then applied to the rings. Then the body is lifted up in the air, stretching the four limbs, until the joints, muscles, flesh, and skin separate. It is extremely painful, and the victim loses consciousness in a few minutes. After a dozen minutes of this torture, the four limbs are dislocated, and the victim is rendered disabled. Mr. Tan Qiucheng was also affixed to the stretching bed. He bit through his tongue as a result of the pain from the torture. -
Insights Into a Brainwashing Centre in the Xianning City Forced Labour Camp
2014-02-04A brainwashing centre named the Xianning Legal Education Base (XLEB) was set up in the Xianning City Forced Labour Camp in October 2013, under the direction of the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Politics and Law Committee in Xianning City. It's purpose was to force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Falun Gong practitioners were forced to watch three types of videos, as part of the XLEB's overall brainwashing strategy. One video specifically slandered Falun Gong and its founder, Teacher Li Hongzhi. The second video disparaged traditional Chinese culture, and the third video was a direct attack on Buddhism. -
Recounting My Hellish Experience in Heilongjiang Women's Prison
2014-02-04I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, China. I was imprisoned in the Heilongjiang Women's Prison for six years for persisting in practising Falun Gong. Prison guards locked me in a tiny cell for almost two months, handcuffed to a metal ring cemented to the floor. They also handcuffed my hands behind my back for a year and a half, hung me by the handcuffs, forced me to stand outside in the freezing cold, and beat me repeatedly. -
Ms. Li Guojun Tortured to Death in 2002
2014-02-04Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Guojun was arrested in Weifang City on April 16th, 2002, and held in the Weifang Detention Centre for over a month while being subjected to a variety of tortures. She began a hunger strike, which lasted 12 days, to protest the inhuman persecution. She was later transferred to 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) Brainwashing Centre (at the Shouguang Party School), where she was persecuted to death. She was 37 years old. Ms. Li's body was covered with bruises and wounds from head to toe. Blood was dripping from the corner of her mouth, and she was covered with small red spots from electric baton shocks.
