  • 83-Year-Old Mother of Arrested Sichuan Practitioner Abused by Police

    The whereabouts of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Shuhua from Shifang, Sichuan Province is unknown as of May 31st, 2015. Her family has searched everywhere, and her elderly mother was abused by agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong).
  • 70-Year-Old Man Arrested for the 9th Time for His Belief

    70-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Shanming was recently arrested for the ninth time. He was taken into police custody on the evening of May 12th for putting up stickers with messages that said “Falun Gong is good” in public. His home was ransacked, and he is being held at the Zhucheng City Detention Centre. Because of his belief, the local police and Communist Party officials have targeted him since the persecution of Falun Gong began. He has been repeatedly arrested and unjustly detained. His most recent arrest marks the ninth time in the past 16 years.
  • 79-Year-Old Woman Dies Just Months after Lengthy Imprisonment

    Ms. Yang Suolin, a 79-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Anshan City, Liaoning Province, died on April 22nd, 2015. Years of brutal treatment had left her paralyzed from the waist down. She spent 3 years in a forced labour camp and 7 years in prison for her belief in Falun Gong, enduring torture and humiliation. After her release from prison, a Party official continued to harass her until the day she died.
  • Twenty Thousand Yuan for a Life

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Luxiang, 49, from Anshan passed away in Liaoning Women's Prison on September 3rd, 2014. The prison officials offered to pay her family 50,000 yuan in compensation, if they signed the cremation papers. After the cremation, the family was paid 20,000 yuan. Ms. Liu's son tried to argue for his rights, but was told by the guards that he would be arrested if he continued making trouble.
  • “Human Harvest” Filmmaker Given Peabody Award in New York

    “Human Harvest: China’s Illegal Organ Trade”, a documentary examining the illegal organ harvesting industry in China, received the Peabody Award in Manhattan, New York on Sunday, May 31st, 2015. The new documentary follows Nobel Peace Prize nominees David Matas and David Kilgour as they investigate the atrocities of illegal organ harvesting in China, particularly of Falun Gong prisoners of conscience. They estimated that about 40,000 to 60,000 people have been killed for their organs in China.
  • Practitioner Mr. Zhao Tortured and Denied Medical Treatment

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Yu'An was tortured by the guards in Daqing Prison, injuring his left ear and arm. Mr. Zhao had refused to squat during “roll call” on the morning of April 16th, 2015. When he was called into the guards office prison head Huo Weidong pulled off his cotton padded jacket because it didn't have the word “prisoner” on it.” Mr. Zhao resisted and said that the prison was violating existing Chinese law. Officers proceeded to torture Mr. Zhao.
  • Daughter of Canadian Citizens Groped During Force-feeding, Given 4 Years for Seeking Release of Wrongly Imprisoned Falun Gong Practitioner

    Ms. Chen Yinghua from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province was recently sentenced to 4 years in prison, about 13 months after her arrest for seeking visitation of a cousin imprisoned for his spiritual belief in Falun Gong. The 40-year-old daughter of a Canadian couple revealed to her lawyers during a meeting in May that she was repeatedly groped by a doctor named Li Yong during a brutal force-feeding session. She also sustained internal and external injuries as a result of other physical abuses.
  • Mr. Dou Changying Brutally Tortured in Hulan Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dou Changying was arrested on April 28th, 2010, by police. The Zhaodong City Court sentenced him to a five-year prison term in January 2011, for practising Falun Gong. Mr. Dou was imprisoned and tortured in Hulan Prison to force him to give up practising Falun Gong. He was released in April 2015.
  • Woman Dies One Month After 5.5-Year Imprisonment for Practising Falun Gong

    Ms. Dong Shaotai was released in April after spending five and a half years in prison for talking to the public about Falun Gong. Her family could not enjoy her newfound freedom, however. Ms. Dong died one month later on May 19th, as a result of the multiple organ failure she developed due to abuse she suffered at the hands of prison guards during her imprisonment. She was 74.
  • Husband Persecuted to Death, Ms. Li Mingyue Arrested Again

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Yinsuo passed away in August 2010, after enduring constant police threats and harassment. Mr. Zhang was arrested in 2001 by police. In the She County Detention Centre, the guards slapped his face, would not let him use the toilet, and put shackles normally worn by death row inmates on him for a week. They chained the handcuffs and leg irons together, keeping him bent over.
  • Shaanxi Province Hospital Offers Patient Choice of Three Liver Transplant “Donors”

    A doctor at Xi'an Xijing Hospital in Shaanxi Province suggested in November 2014 that a friend of mine get a liver transplant, and that there was a compatible organ available. The transplant was done the next day. It seems as if liver matches were waiting for patients, and ready whenever the patients were. I was told by Li Chaoyong at Deyang Prison, Sichuan Province, in 2005, that, “Our superiors' orders are that we carry out blood tests. We must conduct blood tests on 100% of [Falun Gong practitioners].”
  • The Story of 60-Year-Old Ms. Lin Jiuliang

    Ms. Lin, a 60-year-old housewife from Sichuan Province, was sentenced to three years in prison for passing out Shen Yun Performing Arts [a New York-based world-class traditional Chinese cultural show] DVDs on April 8th. This is not the first time Ms. Lin has been held by police. She has been detained at least five times since the Chinese regime started the suppression of Falun Gong in 1999.
  • Space Scientist Faces Trial, Wife Passed Away

    A couple in Tianjin who were accomplished space scientists have been repeatedly arrested for practising Falun Gong over the past 15 years. Detainee Mr. Xiong Huifeng was not allowed to see his wife-Ms. Liu Yuanjie one last time before her death. Years of police harassment, multiple arrests, and home searches have taken a toll on Ms. Liu. After her husband's last arrest she suffered a mental breakdown and her health began to deteriorate. She died at the age of 79 on March 3rd, 2015.
  • Nine Arrested on Suspicion of Putting Up Posters Exposing the Persecution of Falun Gong

    The police in Shenyang, Liaoning Province arrested nine local residents on April 13th, claiming they were caught on surveillance video putting up posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong between late August and early September last year. The practitioners were beaten and force-fed hot chilli pepper water when they denied the police's allegation. Mr. Qi Xiangyang in particular was left with bruises all over his chest and back, and the swelling didn't subside even after ten days. He was further force-fed when he went on a hunger strike to protest the torture and detention.
  • Woman's Family Visit Cut Short When She Complains about Prison Violence Against Her

    Ms. Tan Guiying was complaining to her loved ones about the recent abuse she suffered at Heilongjiang Women's Prison, when the guards cut short the family visit on May 1st and took her back to her cell. The Harbin resident is serving a six-year sentence for practising Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. She has been mistreated on many occasions for refusing to give up her belief since her transfer to the prison on February 27th, 2013. Her arms were temporarily disabled after being hung up for long periods of time shortly after her transfer to prison.
