Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Ding Fadong Has Endured Severe Abuse in Detention Centres and Labour Camps

On July 20th, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) head, Jiang Zemin, launched the unconstitutional persecution of Falun Gong across the nation. I was arrested by the police on numerous occasions simply for telling fellow villagers about the benefits of Falun Gong and the unreasonable persecution practitioners were being put through. I was held in custody and sentenced to forced labour three times, which left me subject to extended hours of forced servitude, while guards and inmates carried out inhuman torture and conducted brainwashing sessions on me. -
Persecuted Three Times Already, Education Bureau Accountant Arrested Again
2010-07-20On June 21st, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Guofang was arrested by police. Ms. Wang was taken to the Changchun City Brainwashing Centre. The officers said, "Falun Gong materials were found in your cabinet. You come with us." Ms. Wang asked, "Why did you search my things? Why should I go with you?" The police officers did not give an explanation and forced her into the vehicle. In October 2004, Ms. Wang was arrested on her way to Beijing, imprisoned for the second time, and subsequently tortured in Changchun Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp. -
An Account of the Torture Suffered by Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Deng Zhilin
2010-07-20In 2000, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Deng Zhilin was arrested. After being tortured for over ten months in the detention centre, Deng Zhilin was sentenced to forced labour. He was sent to Jiangxi Province Forced Labour Camp. When he refused to be "transformed" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong], guards beat him, kicked his head and tied him to a chair or handcuffed him to a bed. They ordered four others to make him sit on a 25 cm tall stool, wear earphones, and listen to tapes that slandered Falun Gong. He had to listen from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. On top of that, he had to do hard labour. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Zhang Kemei Relentlessly Tortured at Wanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in Harbin
2010-07-19Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Kemei was persecuted repeatedly because she persisted in practising Falun Gong and talking to people about the truth behind the persecution of Falun Gong. On August 8th, 2002, she was detained at the Wanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City. Ms. Zhang was frequently hung with her hands cuffed behind her back, shocked with electric batons, or shackled to a torture chair. Zhang Kemei was also forced to sit on a small bench for an extended period. The skin on her thighs festered and her underwear stuck to her body, so she was in extreme pain while using the toilet. She was so weak that the guards didn't dare to torture her again, but they still forced her to do the labour until she was released in mid-December 2003. -
Ms. Xiao Yingxue Detained in Brainwashing Centre Six Times
2010-07-19Ms. Xiao Yingxue was arrested by police on June 27th, 2010, while she distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Wuhan City. She has been detained at the Etouwan Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Xiao has been arrested eight times and detained in brainwashing centres six times since the start of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. In 2001, Ms. Xiao was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour at the Hewan Forced Labour Camp in Wuhan City. While at the labour camp, she was beaten, hung up by handcuffed arms, deprived of sleep, subjected to forced labour, attacked by groups of inmates, forced to watch TV programmes slandering Falun Gong and coerced into writing guarantee statements renouncing her faith in Falun Gong. -
Mr. Zhang Qingshu Sentenced to Forced Labour a Third Time
2010-07-19Mr. Zhang Qingshu, 45, was arrested many times for practising Falun Gong. In 2000, Mr. Zhang was arrested and then taken to the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp of Hebei Province for two years. He was released on April 27th, 2002. In 2003, police detained him in the Tangshan City Hehuakeng Forced Labour camp for three years. On February 3rd, 2009, Mr. Zhang was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. He was arrested and sent to the Balizhuang Forced Labour Camp. He has been detained there since. -
Ms. Cao Zhimin from Changsha City Taken to a Brainwashing Centre
2010-07-19Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cao Zhimin was stopped by at least five unidentified men while she accompanied her daughter Yuanyuan to kindergarten on July 5th, 2010. The men dragged her and her daughter into a white, unmarked car and drove them away. Ms. Cao shouted to passers-by for help and her daughter cried. The men were later identified as officers from the Changsha City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Furong District 610 Office. They took Ms. Cao and her daughter to the Laodaohe Brainwashing Centre in Changsha City. Their family has been forbidden to visit them. -
Elderly Couple Sentenced to Over Ten Years in Prison in Anqiu City, Shandong Province for Their Beliefs
2010-07-18Mr. Ding Yuezhao and his wife, Zhang Yuying, along with three other practitioners were sentenced to heavy prison terms by Anqiu City Court, for continuing to practise Falun Gong. Mr. Ding Yuezhao was sentenced to 12 years, Ms. Zhang Yuying to 13 years, Mr. Sun Zongxu to ten years, Mr. Tang Peiwu to nine years, and Ms. Lin Shuzhen to seven years. They were arrested in December 2009 by Anqiu City police, almost tortured to death, and put on trial three times by the Anqiu City Court. -
Practitioner Bai Sanyuan Given Four to Seven Year Prison Sentence
2010-07-18Police officers broke into Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Bai Sanyuan's home on May 16th, 2010. As a result, he went to hide in his barn. Three hours later, the police shot tear gas canisters into the barn, which immobilised him and made him dizzy. They then forced him into a police car and took him to the Jingyuan County Detention Centre. Mr. Chen was tied down on the "tiger bench" for five days. He went on a hunger strike for 19 consecutive days to protest the detention. As a result, he became emaciated, his lips turned purple, and his legs cramped. He was then taken to Jingyuan County Hospital for an intravenous injection. The Court sentenced Mr. Chen to a prison term of four to seven years. -
Huaying City 610 Office Employs Secret Agents to Follow and Monitor Falun Gong Practitioners
2010-07-18An older man, named Zhou, along with his wife, sells fruit and drinks near the Huaying City People's Hospital. Driven by the desire for profit, they work together with their son and daughter to monitor and follow Falun Gong practitioners for the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). As part of the persecution of Falun Gong, agents from the Guang'an 610 Office broadcast propaganda defaming Falun Gong practitioners. The authorities use taxpayers' money to hire poor people, street cleaners, jobless people, vendors, and neighbours of the practitioners to become secret agents, and have them participate in the persecution of Falun Gong. -
Mr. Jiang Xiuyu Subjected to Forced Labour in Jiutai City, Jilin Province
2010-07-18Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Xiuyu was arrested by the local police on May 11th, 2010, and taken on the same day to Majiagangzi Detention Centre in Jiutai City. On May 26th, he was taken to Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp, to serve a two-year forced labour term. During the fifteen days he was held at the detention centre, his family requested visitation multiple times, but were refused by the detention centre police. On June 7th, his family went to visit him in the camp, but were denied entry by the camp police. They said it was because he had not renounced Falun Gong and was still detained in the "Strict Discipline Team." -
Ms. Liu Guimin Died as a Result of Force-feeding in 2001 at the Daxing Forced Labour Camp in Beijing
2010-07-17Ms. Liu Guimin from Miyun County, Beijing, went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution in early 2001. She was force-fed highly concentrated salt water in the Daxing Women's Forced Labour Camp. The salt water got into her lungs, which resulted in serious bronchial tube and lung infections. She died on January 7th, 2001. Her two children were only 13 years old and 3 years old. The local 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong] in charge of the persecution prevented her family from revealing her death as well as the cause to the outside. That is why there was no report of her case at the time. -
Mum, When Can You Come Home?
2010-07-17Ms. Ma Chunli was almost paralyzed, but after starting to practise Falun Gong, she could not only stand up again, she could also do light housework. She and her son Zhao Xin lived together. They often relied on their relatives for support. On March 17th, 2001, Ms. Ma was arrested by police and sent to a forced labour camp for two years. Her son accompanied by other Falun Gong practitioners went to the police station to ask for the release of Ms. Ma; however,they were detained and beaten. It is believed that Ms. Ma is again paralyzed due to abuse suffered in the forced labour camp and she can no longer take care of herself. -
Du Yuhong Critically Ill After Torture in Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-07-17On January 3rd, 2010, Ms. Du Yuhong was arrested by defence patrol personnel and police officers for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked, her Falun Gong books and materials, and personal belongings were confiscated. She was taken to the Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in January. She was locked in a storage room for three days in the beginning of April, when she refused to recite the prison rules and sign the inspection book. Zhang Lei and two other chief guards handcuffed Ms. Du to two beds, then forcibly pulled them apart. Her hand was injured from the torture, and she lost control of her bowels. Her hands were badly swollen, and Zhang Lei threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident. -
Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp Guards Brutally Torture Ms. Gao Suying
2010-07-17Ms. Gao Suying has been detained at the Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp for over two years. She has suffered brutal torture, monitoring, and verbal abuse at the labour camp. Her term has been extended twice for a total duration of six months, and she has also been denied her legal rights to mail letters and make phone calls to her son. Her current appeal letter to the Procuratorate is being held by guard Chen Huiru.
