  • Older Practitioner Ms. Du Juan Dies after Being Persecuted in Beijing Women's Prison; Officials Refused to Release Her for Medical Treatment

    Mr. Du Juan developed cancer while being persecuted at the Beijing Women's Prison. It quickly advanced into late-stage cancer and she was in critical condition. Her family requested she be released on medical parole many times. Prison authorities refused to release her using various excuses. Ms. Du died in a hospital near the prison on the afternoon of June 14th. She has left behind her mentally retarded son and her nearly 90-year-old father.
  • Over 300 Villagers Petition for Release of Liu Yujing

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Yujing was arrested in her home by police on November 16th, 2010, and detained for a long period of time. She was put on trial by Shizhong District Court on May 6th. On May 31st, Ms. Liu's daughter, Tian Guangqing, arrived at Shizhong District Procuratorate in Jinan City to report the illegal acts of the Shizhong District police— Ms. Liu's arrest, detention and the ransacking of her home during the arrest. The evidence left by Tian Guangqing included a petition signed by over 300 villagers of Xinglong Village, where Ms. Liu's family lives, vouching that Ms. Liu is a good person.
  • The Persecution of Mr. Guo Xiaojun by Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai

    Because of his belief in Falun Gong, Mr. Guo was sentenced to five years in prison in 2000, and was again subjected to four years of imprisonment in 2010. He is currently being detained at the Tilanqiao Prison. Mr. Guo was diagnosed with retinal artery problems while being detained at the Tilanqiao Prison. His condition has recently become worse. The prison officials notified Mr. Guo that they would take him to the hospital for an eye exam on May 18th. When Mr. Guo was taken out of the cell the police forcibly covered his head and locked him up with heavy handcuffs and fetters, with more than a dozen armed personnel to escort him. Mr. Guo realised that the so-called medical examination was just another form of intimidation and persecution.
  • Ge Qingxi Beats Falun Gong Practitioners in Handan Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioners in Handan Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province are still being very severely persecuted. Ge Qingxi is the chief of the special administration team. When many guards were not willing to brutally beat Falun Gong practitioners, he did it himself. On September 2nd, 2010, Ge Qingxi beat Mr. Li Zhu and Mr. Cheng Wendong with a rubber police baton, causing multiple injures. In a conference, he made the remark: “Someone said the higher authorities do not allow us to beat the detainees. Then why did they give me a rubber baton?”
  • After Being Arrested Over Thirty Times for Practising Falun Gong Exercises Publicly, Ms. Zhu Xiyu Is Persecuted Again

    Ms. Zhu Xiyu is a Falun Gong practitioner from Yanji City, Jilin Province. She has persisted in publicly practising Falun Gong exercises in the morning at Jindalai Square for many years, and she has been persecuted by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) over and over again. Ms. Zhu has been arrested about 30 times for publicly practising the exercises at Jindalai Square during the past 12 years, since the communist regime started its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. Ms. Zhu received a written indictment on May 25th from the Yanji City Procuratorate.
  • Ms. Zhan Guilin from Taibus, Inner Mongolia Persecuted

    After the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong, officials from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Domestic Security Division, police station and the neighbourhood community often monitored and harassed Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhan Guilin and her family. They had to leave their home in order to avoid being persecuted. When Zhang Jianguo, from the Qiwei 610 Office, found out where they were staying, he went to Ms. Zhan's son's workplace to force the company's leaders to put pressure on him. The company head told Ms. Zhan's son that he would be promoted if he was able to stop his mother from practising Falun Gong; otherwise, he would be demoted.
  • Mr. Han Yu in Liaozhong County, Liaoning Province Arrested

    On June 13th, a dozen of so police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Han Yu after forcing their way into his home. The officers dragged Mr. Han out of bed, handcuffed him, and took him away without letting him put on a jacket or shoes. His wife and daughter tried to reason with the officers. The officers pushed them around and threatened to arrest the daughter. The police took Mr. Han to the Liaozhong County Police Department then to the Liaozhong County Detention Centre. They went to the detention centre to ask for his release. The guards at the gate refused to admit them.
  • Shanxi Taigu County Police Refuse to Release Critically Ill Practitioner Ms. Cheng Quanying on Bail for Medical Treatment

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cheng Quanying is imprisoned in Shanxi Women's Prison and she is critically ill. According to regulations, Ms. Cheng qualifies for release on bail for medical treatment, but the Taigu County Police Department refuses to sign the document. Ms. Cheng Quanying's daughter is appealing to people to rescue her mother. Ms. Cheng Quanying was arrested by the local police in 2007 and was later sentenced to six years in prison. She became critically ill as a result of torture in Shanxi Women's Prison and was released on bail for medical treatment in 2009. However, she was taken back to prison in August 2010.
  • Ms. Du Juan Persecuted to Late-Stage Cancer, Beijing Women's Prison Still Refuses to Release Her

    Beijing Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Du Juan has been so severely persecuted in the Beijing Women's Prison that she is now on the brink of death. She is suffering with untreated late-stage cancer. Her relatives have asked for her to be bailed out for medical treatment several times, but the prison officials have refused to do so.
  • Mr. Chen Xin Has Been Denied Visitation Rights for Over Two Years

    Mr. Chen Xin, 42, was repeatedly harassed when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. He was arrested for appealing in front of the city government building on July 22nd, 1999. Officers handcuffed him to a heating pipe in the police station and did not give him any food or water for a whole day. Mr. Chen was sentenced to 13 years in prison on September 28th, 2002. He was first held in Wafangdian Prison then in the Jinzhou Prison. Practitioners in the prison have been forced to do hard labour since March 2011, and anyone who refuses undergoes more severe persecution and brainwashing. It has been said that Mr. Chen is being persecuted severely there, and his family is deeply concerned about him.
  • Three Years after Mr. Li Zhiqing's Death, Those Responsible Remain Unpunished

    Those who knew Li Zhiqing say that he had a very kind heart, always volunteered to help others, and never asked for anything in return. Yet he was arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police, and by the next morning, he had been tortured to death. To this day, those responsible have not been held accountable. During the past three years, Mr. Li's family made several inquiries about this. The police department not only refused to compensate them for his death, but even threatened that they would arrest the whole family if they continued to report this to the upper levels of government.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Wang Qinglan, a Farmer in Jilin Province, Persecuted for the Past Twelve Years

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Qinglan, 62, has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for the past twelve years. Ms. Wang Qinglan has suffered torture several times. Her family has suffered financially and psychologically. In total, they have been extorted out of more than ten thousand yuan. Her children constantly worry about her.
  • Mudanjiang Prison Guards Brutally Torture Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Yu Zonghai

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Zonghai was sentenced to a 15-year prison term in 2001, to be served at Mudanjiang Prison. Mr. Yu was tortured and is suffering severe physical injuries. Despite his severe injuries, the guards forced him to do hard labour, and beat him when he refused to comply with their orders. At the end of August 2006, Mr. Yu's left eye was injured and the tear duct broke. The prison hospital was not equipped to treat him, and told him to seek treatment in another hospital. Prison guards demanded money from his family for treatment in an outside hospital. Mr. Yu's wife and younger sister are detained at Harbin City Women's Prison for practising Falun Gong.
  • Jiaozhou City Prosecutor Kept Lawyers from Seeing Their Clients

    On March 23rd, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Li Yuzhen, Mr. Song Yongzhan, and Ms. Song Guilan, all from Jiaozhou City, and Mr. Yong Zongquan from Wendeng City were arrested and detained. Mr. Li and Mr. Song's families hired lawyers Li and Dong to defend them, but the prosecutor's office gave the lawyers a tough time when they tried to interview their clients.
  • Ms. Cui Ling, a Teacher from Yunnan Province Sentenced to Imprisonment

    Recently, officers from criminal court of Honghe Intermediate Court sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cui Ling to three years in prison. Ms. Cui commissioned her family to appeal and Yunnan Provincial High Court filed the case for the second time on May 16th. Police arrested Ms. Cui on July 3rd, 2010, when she visited a practitioner in hospital. Police ransacked her home and removed Falun Gong books and leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Cui was detained in Kaiyuan City Detention Centre.
