  • Mass Arrest of Fourteen Practitioners in Maoming--Five Facing Trial

    Fourteen Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Maoming on November 2nd, 2013. Five are still being detained. Families of the arrested practitioners appealed to the authorities to release of their loved ones, but the authorities refused to see them. The police station deputy director claimed that the practitioners would be put on trial.
  • Female Practitioner Brutally Tortured for Being Steadfast in Her Belief

    A female Falun Gong practitioner was arrested and incarcerated for not giving up her belief. The arresting officers were in plainclothes and did not have an arrest warrant. At the police station they slapped her in the face, handcuffed her, and shackled her to an iron chair.
  • Mr. Yu Ming Endures Ten Years of Torture in Chinese Labour Camps

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Ming, had been persecuted and tortured during the past ten years for practising Falun Gong, was arrested again this year after a brief period of freedom. He was able to escape, but was again arrested soon after and incarcerated in a detention centre. His family hired lawyers to defend him, but when they tried to meet their client, officials from the centre made excuses to not allow them to see or talk to him. This practitioner had been locked up in forced labour camps where he was inhumanly tortured until he became emaciated and almost died.

    A 50-year-old practitioner was arrested and incarcerated because he told people the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution. During his first imprisonment of five years, he was so brutally tortured that he became mentally disordered. Upon his release, he recovered completely but was arrested again and has now been on a hunger strike for well over a year. Prison officials have force fed him with a sharp feeding tube, not to provide him with nourishment but to inflict pain. Thousands of citizens in Tianjin and Shandong Province have signed petitions to show their support and request that the CCP release him.
  • Seventy-Eight-Year-Old Woman Loses Eyesight after Five Years of Imprisonment

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Ying, 78, was cured of late stage cancer 14 years ago through practising Falun Gong. However, during the 14 years of persecution against Falun Gong, she has been arrested 15 times and sentenced twice for refusing to give up the practice. Nine years of imprisonment has wrought tremendous damage upon her mind and body, and shortly after her release she lost sight in both her eyes.
  • Ms. Liu Meizhang Passes Away After Three Arrests in Three Years

    Ms. Liu Meizhang, 69, was taken to the Mishan Brainwashing Centre on June 25th, 2013, by the local 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). She was released five weeks later, but was still required to report to the centre on a weekly basis. She died on the morning of November 8th, 2013, after having been arrested three times in three years for her peaceful belief in Falun Gong.
  • Ms. Wang Xiuqing Dies After Enduring 14 Years of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Xiuqing was arrested and detained many times, sentenced to forced labour twice, and routinely threatened and harassed for maintaining her spiritual belief. In early July 2013, police came to Ms. Wang's home and took her to the Amuer Police Station. The police threatened and intimidated her, ignoring the fact that Ms. Wang was in an extremely fragile condition, unable to walk, and had difficulty breathing. She passed away on July 18th, at the age of 44, after enduring over 14 years of persecution.
  • Former Manager of a Forest Products Company Persecuted to Death in Prison

    Mr. Li Shangshi, 65, was arrested in 2004 and sentenced to a 14-year prison term. He was first held in the Fushun City No. 2 Prison and later in the Shenyang City No. 1 Prison in 2008 and held in the strictly monitored division. He was tortured in many ways and was forced to do hard labour. Once he was on a hunger strike for 28 days. He was tied to the death bed for force-feeding. His stomach was damaged with the feeding tube. He was persecuted to death on November 22nd, 2013.
  • Trial Continues After Defence Lawyers Leave the Courtroom

    A second court trial for practitioners Ms. Liu Yanhua and Ms. Wu Wenjin commenced on October 22nd, 2013, without the presence of their three defence lawyers. Ms. Liu and Ms. Wu's relatives were very angry that the court officials acted in such an unfair manner. Defence lawyer Chu Yukun was unable to make it to the court on time, as his flight was delayed due to heavy fog. The two other lawyers then tried to contact Li Yongsheng, the presiding judge, to postpone the trial for a couple of days. However, he did not answer the calls.
  • Jilin City Party Secretary Launches Mass Arrests; An Inside Look at the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre

    More than 30 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested the night of October 17th, 2013. Some of the them were taken to the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre. Every day from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., propaganda that slanders Falun Gong is broadcast into the rooms. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., they focus on personally abusing practitioners in an effort to break their spirits and force them to renounce their belief. Since becoming the CCP secretary, Zhang Xiaopei has been mercilessly persecuting Falun Gong as a means of gaining political favour for further promotion.
  • Elderly Shop Owner Tortured in Liaoning Women's Prison

    Ms. Jia Guiqin, an over-60-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Liaoning Province, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for explaining the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution to people. She has been incarcerated in the Liaoning Women's Prison, where she has suffered severe torture, leaving her emaciated, weak, and often unable to focus her mind.
  • Mr. Li Runhui, 68, Huabei Oilfield Retiree, Dies after Years of Persecution

    Mr. Li Runhui, 68, was arrested seven times because he practised Falun Gong. He was sentenced to a seven-year term in 2009 and held in Jidong Prison. He was later released on medical parole after he developed heart disease and pulmonary oedema (excess fluid in the lungs) and was on the verge of dying. The 610 Office officials (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) kept harassing, pressuring, and threatening Mr. Li while he was on medical parole. Unable to recover under such torment, Mr. Li passed away on August 21st, 2013.
  • Ai Hongwu, Hegang Brainwashing Centre Chief, Guilty of Many Crimes

    Ai Hongwu, 58, is the chief of Hegang Brainwashing Centre in Heilongjiang Province. He is responsible for the persecution of many people, but to outsiders he lies, saying he is "the principal of a law school." Publicly, he is known as the deputy director of the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Hegang City, located on the third floor of the Rural Bank of Heilongjiang Province. His wife is ill, and his son works in Shanghai.
  • Deprived of Sleep for Four Days , Mr . Li Wendong Is Being Persecuted at Yidong Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Wendong was sentenced to six years of imprisonment. In February 2013 he was sent to Yidong Prison. The prison assigned six inmates to monitor and torture him, and force him to “reform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. In the beginning, he was only allowed to sleep for 2 hours each day. At one point Mr. Li was deprived of sleep for four days and nights. He has been tortured this way for more than a month. When his wife visited him at the end of October 2013, she became worried because he was obviously frail, and looked emaciated and pale.
  • Ms. Zhao Chunyan Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

    After previously being arrested twice and sentenced to forced labour twice, Ms. Zhao Chunyan, in her 60s, was sentenced to five years in prison by Hengshan District Court on October 28th, 2013. She has already been through so much and her family is extremely worried about her. To protest the persecution Ms. Zhao went on a hunger strike while she was detained and was obviously very debilitated during the trial. This did not keep the court from sentencing her to five years in prison.
