  • Seven Falun Gong Practitioners from Tianjin Arrested While Assisting an Imprisoned Practitioner's Family

    On March 4th, 2010, seven Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by local police while looking after three children whose parents were not able to care for them. They were then detained at the Wuqing Detention Centre. Practitioner Ms. Wei Lianhua was arrested in 2008. She was sentenced to four years in prison and is currently being held at Tianjin Women's Prison. After his wife was prosecuted, Ms. Wei's husband went through tremendous hardship: he lost all hold on reality and was not able to recognise anyone. He would walk around without any clothes on, did not eat or sleep, and was prone to physical violence with anyone he saw. He was sent to a mental hospital.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Beaten and Forced to Take Unknown Drugs in Jiangsu Women's Forced Labour Camp

    I have witnessed the cruelty and ruthlessness of the guards in that forced labour camp. Practitioner Ms. Zhang Fengying was healthy before the persecution. While she was in a forced labour camp, guards claimed she had high blood pressure and forced her to take drugs, which afterwards resulted in open sores on her skin. Other practitioners became swollen after taking the same drug. The guards still ordered the drug offenders to administer the drug. Ms. Zhang Yuhua, a physician, was tortured with the "flying the airplane" technique in the yard. They also grabbed her by her hair and hit her head on the floor, pinched her neck, and kicked her, resulting in many scars on her neck.
  • Former Leukaemia Patient Ms. Mou Lihua Constantly Harassed

    Ms. Mou Lihua was previously a leukaemia patient. After she began practising Falun Gong, her cancer was cured. Several officers from the Qidaoquanzi District Police Department repeatedly harassed Ms. Mou and her elderly parents, who are in their eighties. Police team heads Zhang Hua and Li Changxing, and officer Wang Gang, came to her house five times between September 2009 and the New Year in 2010, trying to arrest Ms. Mou. The most recent harassment occurred on February 27th, 2010, and Ms. Mou strongly protested, "I am following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person. Which law did I break? Falun Gong cured my illness, but you came to my house to bother me repeatedly. Why didn't you come when I was sick?" The police officers had nothing to say and eventually left.
  • Fellow Villagers Sign Petition Seeking Justice for Xu Dawei, Who Died as a Result of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Dawei suffered severe abuse in prison. Due to the brutal torture, he suffered organ failure, his body was covered with cuts and bruises, and he suffered a mental collapse. He was finally released after eight years of imprisonment. However, he died only 13 days after his release, on February 16th, 2009. Mr. Xu's fellow villagers showed great discontent with the fact that such a good man was persecuted to death. Dozens of people went to Dongling Prison, demanding an explanation for his death. Mr. Xu's family also persisted in petitioning for justice after his death. However, they were all turned away.
  • 57-Year-Old Ms. Cao Guifang Dies as a Result of Persecution in Gansu Province

    Ms. Cao Guifang was arrested multiple times and detained, her home was ransacked, and she was sentenced to a forced labour camp. At the forced labour camp, Ms. Cao was inhumanly tortured. The police forced her to carry huge rocks. In addition, they did not allow her to drink water or use the toilet. They also forced her to stand still for long periods of time. The guards tried to force Ms. Cao to write the so-called "repentance statement" (renouncing Falun Gong) and she was forced to wear handcuffs for eight consecutive days. Ms. Cao's feet became swollen from the torture. Even after she was released, the police went to Ms. Cao's home again to try to force her to write the repentance statement. The relentless persecution took a toll on Ms. Cao, and she passed away on March 3rd, 2010.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Subjected to Force-Feeding at the Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Centre, Liaoning Province

    I was arrested with other practitioners in August 2009. A policeman informed us that if we wanted to practise Falun Gong, we could just do it at home. Then he said, "As soon as you write a guarantee statement that you are not going to practise Falun Gong anymore, I'll let you go home." I refused to write such a statement. I started a hunger strike. Police tied me to a bench with the belts across my chest, thighs, and legs. They tied them so tight that I could barely breathe. They inserted a force-feeding tube into my trachea through my nose, which made me cry out in pain. They then stuffed something into my mouth so that people wouldn't hear me. They were afraid that I could not breathe, so they left a small gap for air to enter my mouth. They started force-feeding me, and I felt very sick.
  • Mr. Zhu Musong from Yueyang City, Hunan Province, Suffers Multiple Accounts of Persecution

    Mr. Zhu Musong, 43, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Beigang Township, Yueyang City, Hunan Province. Since the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in July 1999, Mr. Zhu has suffered in many ways at the hands of authorities. He was detained twice after appealing for the right to practise Falun Gong, was detained again for visiting a fellow practitioner, underwent 40 days of brainwashing, and was imprisoned twice at a forced labour camp for distributing Falun Gong fliers, once for a year, the second time for 15 months.
  • 63-Year-Old Mr. Mei Chunfu Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Mei went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October 1999. The police arrested and detained him in the Qi County Detention Centre. The guards tortured him with tightening the ropes and ankle shackles; they punched and kicked him, locked him up in a small cell, and deprived him of drinking water. Because Mr. Mei persisted in practising his faith and did not accept the brainwashing, the guards locked his shackles together with handcuffs, which meant that he could not stand up or sit down, and he had to stay in a very painful bent position. In 2004, Mr. Mei was sentenced to three years of forced labour in the Kaifeng City Forced Labour Camp. The persecution left him ill and weak. After his release, the police never left him in peace, and kept harassing him at home. Mr. Mei never fully recovered, and died in 2009.
  • Huaihua City Mental Hospital Imprisons and Persecutes Practitioners

    Huaihua City Mental Hospital imprisons and persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioner Ms. Chen Chujun died as a result of persecution there. Practitioners are detained among mental patients and tortured. Torture methods include shackling of practitioners, forced feeding, force administration of unknown drugs, and torture with an electric baton. The doctors claim that they use electric batons to find out if the patients "truly have mental problems."
  • Persecution and Forced Labour at the Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp

    The labour camp subjects practitioners to forced labour. The older practitioners are sent to the sweet shop to wrap sweets, and have to meet a high hourly quota. In December 2009, camp guards raised the quota again, adding one jin (1 jin = 1.1 pound) to the hourly quota. The practitioners who are 45 years of age and younger must wrap ten jin of sweets every hour. The practitioners who are 46 to 60 years of age must wrap nine jin. Practitioners who are 61 to 65 years of age must wrap 6 jin, and practitioners who are 66 years of age or older must wrap five jin per hour. If one misses the quota by nine hours in one week, she is forced to sit upright for two hours every night as punishment if she is over 60 years old, forced to stand for two hours every night if she's younger than 60 years old.
  • Persecution Suffered by Seventy-year-old Mr. Tang Chuangyuan from Sichuan Province

    Mr. Tang Chuangyuan was persecuted extensively for practising Falun Gong. On November 14th, 2005, Mr. Tang was arrested and sentenced to three years of imprisonment. On February 17th, 2003, five to six policemen from the Domestic Security Division of Shifang and Majin Police Station arrested Mr. Tang in his home, and then took him to the Hexing Brainwashing Centre. In the brainwashing centre, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel tortured Mr. Tang and caused a right shoulder joint dislocation. Mr. Tang did not receive any medical treatment for the injury. One night, Mr. Tang was so severely beaten that his entire body was covered with injuries, rendering him unable to sit up or sleep. The perpetrators beat him until they were too tired to continue.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Liu Yuxia and Ms. Bai Chunhua Die as Result of Persecution

    On May 21st, 2009, Ms. Liu Yuxia was arrested by officer Li Hu from the Santa Town Police Station when Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution together with other practitioners. They were taken to the Santa Police Station. Ms. Liu's complexion was dark blue as a result of low oxygen in the blood caused by her heart disease. After three days the police were afraid of her dying in custody, so they decided to release her. However, they demanded 1,000 yuan from her family first. The local police never left Ms. Liu alone, and they demanded that she submit the results of her physical check-up, and threatened to take her into custody at any time. Ms. Liu was severely abused both mentally and physically, and her whole body was swollen. She died on November 6th, 2009.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Jiang Limin from Changchun City Persecuted

    Since July 20th, 1999, for almost 11 years now, I have been brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because I practise Falun Gong. The persecution has injured me physically and mentally. It has also caused my family members emotional pain and suffering, as well as financial difficulties. On November 19th, 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong and was arrested. At Xuanwu District Detention Centre and was brutally tortured. An officer named Jiang called over four or five other policemen. One grabbed my head and used a toilet brush to hit the right side of my face fast and hard. He did not stop until he was really tired. He hit me about 50 to 60 times, and my face under my right eye was swollen with purple and blue bruises.
  • Ms. Lu Xianming Subjected to Continuous Persecution, Remains Imprisoned

    Ms. Lu Xianming has been imprisoned at the Guangzhou Women's Prison since January 15th, 2007. Ms. Lu was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. During her detention at the forced labour camp, Ms. Lu endured the most evil and cruel torture methods, such as sleep deprivation, not being allowed to use the toilet, being made to stand still for a long time, having her legs bound, and an overall spiritual wearing down. Ms. Lu was on a hunger strike for a few months, so guards instructed the inmates to force-feed her by prying her mouth open with a metal spoon. They inserted a nasal tube, and simply left it there for a long period of time. The guards often added several kinds of drugs to the food that they forced into her.
  • Guo Chunsheng Tortured in Prison; His Elderly Mother in a Precarious State

    Police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Chunsheng several months before the 2008 Olympics without an arrest warrant. They detained him in the Wuxue City Detention Centre and the First Detention Centre. In the first half of 2009, Mr. Guo was sentenced to a three-year prison term without court proceedings, to be served in Fanjiatai Prison of Shayang City. He suffered a mental collapse due to torture and is in very poor health. The police claimed that he was a mental patient and locked him up in an iron cage.
