Ms. Liu Shuling, 55, Dies in Harbin Women's Forced Labour Camp

On July 3rd, 2010, Ms. Liu Shuling died in the Harbin Women's Drug Rehabilitation Centre and Forced Labour Camp. Her family rushed to the camp, driving overnight to get there. Her body had been placed in a funeral home. They questioned Director Yang and several guards: "How come she was fine at home, but died in your custody? You must explain the cause." The camp administration answered with hesitation, "She died suddenly due to coronary artery heart disease, and passed out in the toilet." Falun Gong practitioners are brutally persecuted at the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Centre and Forced Labour Camp. The means of persecution are cruel and intense, including being subjected to brainwashing attempts to force them to renounce Falun Gong. -
60-Year-Old Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhu Guilian Dies after Torture in Detention
2010-07-16After July 20th, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Zhu Guilian, 60, refused to give up her faith and was arrested and imprisoned many times. On April 2009, Ms. Zhu was once again arrested and held in the Dingcheng District Detention Centre in Changde City. On February 2010, Ms. Zhu was tortured to near death, and the guard called her family to take her home. She died on May 5th, 2010. Before her death, Ms. Zhu once described being injected with a certain lethal drug when she was locked up in a mental hospital in Changde City. She said that the drug caused her to vomit and discharge blood. -
Older Practitioner Qin Shifang Died as a Result of Persecution
2010-07-16Practitioner Qin Shifang's health improved after she began practising Falun Gong. Before the 2008 Olympics in China, authorities from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) arrested and persecuted her because she told people the facts about Falun Gong. Ms. Qin was sentenced to a year in prison, where she was given only cornmeal for her meals and forced to stand all day long. The police ordered some inmates who were drug addicts to beat and torture her. Her blood pressure went sky high. With her husband blaming her and her sons pressuring her, she could not resist and signed a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong against her will. After she was released, she regretted it greatly and cried all day long. Ms. Qin passed away on April 20th, 2010. -
The Communist Regime Turns a Kind Woman into a Ruthless Labour Camp Guard
2010-07-16Li Jirong, as I knew, was a gentle and shy girl when she was young. She spoke little and was kind to everyone. How could she become an "evil guard?" I could not believe it. How could the communist regime turn a kind woman into a brutal, evildoing guard? The crimes attributed to her include: depriving Falun Gong practitioners of sleep, physical attacks, brutal beatings, electric shocks, tie-ups, and sexual assault of women practitioners. Li Jirong, a former teacher, was once a kind woman. Later on she followed her father and moved to Beijing. Because her father worked for the Beijing Municipal Administration of Forced Labour, she had the opportunity to become a police officer. As a division head, she was cruel in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. -
Mr. Fan Qingjun Severely Tortured in Jidong Prison
2010-07-15Mr. Fan Qingjun was arrested and held in the Xushui County Detention Centre in September 2002, because he believed in Falun Gong. In October 2003, Mr. Fan was sentenced to seven years in prison and sent to Jidong Prison, Tangshan City. Seven years of continuous persecution has caused his health to deteriorate. To resist the persecution, Mr. Fan went on a hunger strike. As a result, the guards ordered inmates to force-feed Mr. Fan. A thick tube was inserted down his mouth. Mr. Fan was strapped to a chair with his arms stretched out and his legs tied. They used an instrument to pry open his mouth, and as Mr. Fan had not been eating food for a long time, they had difficulty inserting the tube. So they pried harder on his teeth, which loosened several of them and the broken bits of teeth fell on to the floor. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Liu Yuehong from Beijing Persecuted in Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-07-15Falun Gong practitioner Liu Yuehong was arrested in April 2008. She was sent to Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province for a two-year term in July, 2008. In the forced labour camp, they attempted to force Ms. Liu to "transform" (give up her beliefs) and brutally tortured her,including being forced to stand for a long period of time, kneeling, remaining handcuffed in a painful position for extended periods of time, and being denied drink, food, and toilet use. They taped her legs to force her to sit with her legs double-crossed. The police tried to force Ms. Liu to write statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. -
Ms. Wang Cailian of Qingdao City Missing After Her Arrest
2010-07-15Ms. Wang Cailian is missing after she was arrested at the end of May for distributing Falun Gong fliers. Police took her to the Hongdao Town Police Station, where they beat her. Officer Xiao slapped her face a dozen times. After this beating, she felt dizzy. She was unable to move her right side and almost lost consciousness. Her family has been asking the Hongdao Town Police Station for her release. Police have claimed that she has already been released, but her family has not seen her. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Zhi from Shenyang City Sentenced
2010-07-15After Ms. Liu Zhi was sentenced to four years imprisonment, she began to appeal. A few days later, her family entrusted two lawyers to visit Ms. Liu at the detention centre, but they could not locate her. Those in charge at the detention centre claimed that she had been taken to the women's prison, but staff at the prison said she was not there. The family learned from Zaohua Detention Centre personnel that her original verdict was upheld in Shenyang Intermediate Court and that this decision was made without notifying any of her family members. After the detention centre received the verdict, they took her to the women's prison. -
Mr. Xiao Zunyi from Dayi County, Sichuan Persecuted for a Long Term
2010-07-14I am a Falun Gong practitioner in Dayi County, Chengdu, Sichuan. Over the past ten years, I have been fined my home has been ransacked, and I've been arrested and tortured because of my belief in Falun Gong. Police ransacked my apartment again before the Olympics in August 2008. They didn't find any materials yet they took me to Xinchang Police Station. I saw there were three fellow practitioners who had already been locked up to a tree. Policemen tortured us for a confession and asked me about where I kept Falun Gong materials, but I didn't tell them. They got nothing from me in the end. -
Five Falun Gong Practitioners Missing in Shanxi Province
2010-07-14Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ren Yong was arrested in Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, when he was telling people the facts about Falun Gong and exposing the persecution on June 24th. Ms. Cui Yuping and other practitioners were later arrested when they visited the police station to ask about Mr. Ren's arrest. Five Falun Gong practitioners have been missing since then. -
Court Hides Verdict in Secret Trial of a Veteran Officer
2010-07-14Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Pang Liang, around 37 year-old, was sentenced to three years in prison in Henan Province, and on May 5th, was sent to the Xinmi Prison in Zhengzhou. The Court did not disclose the verdict to the Pang family, or the names of the persons involved in the trial. Mr. Pang was an officer in the Jiyuan Detachment. He was expelled from service because of his belief in Falun Gong and was arrested numerous times by agents from the Kaifeng City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). He was brutally tortured during three years in the Xuchang Forced Labour Camp. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Li Xiaodi Arrested
2010-07-14Li Xiaodi, a Falun Gong practitioner from Tangshan City, was arrested by Communist Party members at her workplace, and by agents from the local Public Security Bureau while she was at work on June 23rd, 2010. They grabbed Ms. Li, carried her by force into a car, and took her to the division bureau. Ms. Li was transferred to Changningdao Detention Centre. The next day four men from the Kaifa District Public Security Bureau broke into Ms. Li's home. They took her personal computer, and materials that explained the truth about Falun Gong. Ms. Li is still in police custody. -
Ms. Ma Chunli Paralysed as a Result of Persecution, Four Practitioners Attempting to Rescue Her Were Detained
2010-07-13Ms. Ma Chunli's health was very poor in the past, and she was barely able to walk until she practised Falun Gong. After she began her practice, not only could she stand up, she gained employment to support her son and herself. She was arrested on March 17th, 2010, by officers from Jiadong Police Station and will have to spend two years in a forced labour camp. Ms. Ma is completely paralysed now and is not able to take care of herself. Her fellow practitioners took her young son with them to appeal for her release. They were held against their will and brutally beaten. -
Ms. Han Yuqin Severely Abused in Jilin Province Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-07-13Police broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner 34-year-old Ms. Han Yuqin, and arrested her at the end of 2009 and held her in the Jilin Province No.1 Women's Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Han, who was originally healthy and broad-minded, now suffers from all kinds of health problems such as with her heart, arthritis, and severe insomnia, resulting from physical torture and mental torments in the past six months. She is still in the camp. To try to "reform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her guards forced her to stand or sit for a long time. -
Sentenced to 13 Years, Mr. Li Yanwen Is Being Tortured in Hulan Prison
2010-07-13Mr. Li Yanwei from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province, was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2002. He is currently being tortured in Hulan Prison. On June 11th, Mr. Li's family visited him in Hulan Prison. He was brought to them by someone supporting him by his arm. Mr. Li was emaciated and weak. He could not walk steadily and his eyes were dull. His family barely recognised him.
