Dai Qihong, a Good Policeman, Tortured with Electric Batons in Jiamusi Prison

While imprisoned in Jiamusi Prison on August 18th, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dai Qihong refused to participate in hard labour in order to protest how terribly he was being treated. Subsequently, Wang Yantao, leader of the 3rd Brigade in the 1st Prison Area, ordered inmates to beat him. Later, they dragged Mr. Dai to the workshop and used electric batons to shock sensitive areas of his body. Mr. Dai's mouth was injured from the electric batons. He is in very serious condition and cannot eat. -
Ms. Wu Shenghe Tortured at Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre in Lanzhou City
2010-09-07Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Shenghe, in her 40s, was arrested on February 11th, 2008 as she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong. Police took her to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre and brutally beat her. After the beating, they handcuffed Ms. Wu behind her back and locked her onto a bunk-bed frame. This torture method has been often used on Falun Gong practitioners held in brainwashing centres. The practitioner can't move, and if she moves a little bit, the handcuffs automatically tighten, biting into the flesh of her wrists and causing unbearable pain. This torture method prevents the practitioner from either completely straightening her back or sitting; she can only half-squat or half-kneel on the cement floor. -
Ms. Wang Xiuhua Dies in Police Custody After Years of Repeated Arrest and Imprisonment for Practising Falun Gong
2010-09-06On July 29th, 2008, right before the Beijing Olympics, police arrested Ms. Wang Xiuhua at her home under the excuse of Olympic security. They detained her for about 60 days, then secretly sentenced her to three years in prison, with five years probation. Her term had not ended when she passed away on August 24th, 2010. Previously Ms. Wang had been arrested and detained several times for practising Falun Gong and talking to people about the truth behind the persecution of Falun Gong. -
Forty-Year-Old Mr. Dong Yuehua Dies as a Result of Persecution
2010-09-06Mr. Dong Yuehua died on July 12th, 2010. He was survived by his wife and his seven year-old son. Some may wonder why, since Falun Gong is good for healing and fitness and many with incurable illnesses have recovered, did four members of Mr. Dong's family die? What caused Mr. Dong to die at the age of forty? In March 30th, 2009, police arrested Mr. Dong at his home. They took him to a brainwashing centre where they threatened him, deprived him of sleep by pounding on him with rubber clubs and sprayed water on his face whenever he closed his eyes. The guards took three shifts to harass him until his mind became muddled. His mind and body were shocked again when five local practitioners were sentenced to prison on April 9th, 2010. At the same time, police threatened him to make him give up practising. Mr. Dong suddenly lost consciousness on July 12th, 2010 and died. -
High School Teacher from Jilin Province Very Ill as a Result of Persecution in Jiutai Forced Labour Camp
2010-09-06Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Yongsheng, 39, is a high school teacher in Fuyu County in Jilin Province. The Chinese Communist Party sentenced him, and he is now in Jiutai Forced Labour Camp. Because of how he has been treated there, Mr. Jiang is very ill. Labour camp officials do not allow his family to visit him and have refused to release Mr. Jiang on medical parole, so he can't get proper medical treatment. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Given Long Prison Sentences in Loudi City, Hunan Province
2010-09-06On August 3rd, 2010, nine Falun Gong practitioners were secretly sentenced by the Louxing District Court in Loudi City, Hunan Province. Five were given long-term jail sentences: Cao Gongxun was sentenced to 10 years; Liu Xinping 9 years; Zhou Qingfeng 5 and a half years; Ouyang Zhong 3 and a half years; and He Jinlin 2 years. Four other practitioners were sentenced to 3 years but their sentences were suspended and they put under surveillance for 4 years. These practitioners found the sentences unacceptable and sent an appeal to a higher court. The ruling of the Louxing District Court on August 3rd came after the date required by statute, which is six weeks after the trial. Pronouncing the sentences more than four months after the trial was illegal. -
Ms. Wang Mingfang Tortured in Shanghai Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-09-05Ms. Wang Mingfang was arrested while handing out Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in September 2009. She was sent to a brainwashing centre in Shanghai and then was sentenced to Shanghai Women's Forced Labour Camp. As Ms. Wang would not renounce her belief in Falun Gong, guard Li Zhuolin and others ordered four inmates to torture her. As a result, the skin on Ms. Wang's buttocks was ripped apart and covered in pus and blood. She cannot sit down and has lost nearly half her body weight. But, Li Zhuolin still continued to order inmates to force her to sit on a stool for long periods of time to make her endure more pain. When Ms. Wang almost fainted, she was slapped across the face several times. -
Accountant and Doctor Arrested, Their Lawyers Prevented from Getting Involved
2010-09-05Zeng Yuxian, a former accountant, and Cui Weikai, a former emergency centre doctor, were arrested by police on March 26th, 2010. Their families have hired lawyers, but the communist regime has harassed and subjected them to intimidation, trying to force them to drop the case. Mr. Zeng was fired from his job for practising Falun Gong. He was also detained in a forced labour camp many times and subjected to brutal abuse. Prison guards poured hot water on him, resulting in his head being scalded. Wire clamps were used to clamp his teeth. He was deprived of sleep for several nights and not allowed to go to the toilet, so he had to relieve himself in his trousers. They also put shackles on his legs and used handcuffs to restrict his movement. Mr. Cui was arrested for handing out brochures that explain the facts about Falun Gong. He was severely beaten by the police and subsequently sent to a hospital for treatment. -
Mr. Ao Yongjie in Critical Condition as a Result of Maltreatment in Jilin Prison
2010-09-05Mr. Ao Yongjie, 46, who is being held in Ward 8 in Jilin Prison, is in critical condition as a result of the persecution. The prison authorities allowed the prison doctor to arbitrarily perform a tracheotomy for Mr. Ao, opening up his trachea. After the surgical incision, the wound did not heal for a long time, it ulcerated and became purulent and infected, and the surrounding flesh turned black. None of the related officers in the prison want to take responsibility for Mr. Ao's worsening condition. Mr. Ao was fired from his job in 2000 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong and has been subjected to harassment numerous times by police. Mr. Ao was previously sentenced to imprisonment twice for refusing to renounce practising Falun Gong. -
Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp Severely Mistreats Falun Gong Practitioners
2010-09-05Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp officials in Hebei Province subject detained Falun Gong practitioners to do arbitrary forced labour. Officials also extended the terms of those practitioners who voice objections to the forced labour. Ms. Wu Junfang was pregnant when the Olympic Games were held in Beijing in 2008. She was arrested, taken to a local detention centre, and subjected to a forced abortion. In addition, because Ms. Wu was kept chained to a bed and unable to move, her physical condition deteriorated and she became extremely weak. She was sentenced to two years of forced labour and is now held in Division Four. Her term was extended by 22 days with no reason being given. -
The Persecution Suffered by Sichuan Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Liu Yingxu
2010-09-04After the Chinese Communist regime began to suppress Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Liu Yingxu was persecuted many times. He was sent to a labour camp twice and imprisoned for three years in total. He was once detained in a brainwashing centre for seven and a half months. Recounting his ordeal in a labour camp: "I was assigned to make bricks. I often had to work until late at night, and with the lights on for quite some time. Initially, I was assigned to push the dump trucks and shovel debris. However, it was too strenuous for me, and I nearly fainted several times from exhaustion. My whole body ached after finishing work for the day. My hands were blistered, and I could not straighten my arms." -
Mr. Cui Lu Holds Hunger Strike to Protest Persecution
2010-09-04Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cui Lu was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment on September 9th, 2009, without a confession or any evidence whatsoever, and he was taken to Jidong Prison. The authorities did not inform his family about the verdict. While in prison, he has been subjected to severe torture. Mr. Cui began a hunger strike in June 2010 to protest the persecution. he has been force-fed. His mouth and oesophagus were injured as a result of the barbaric force-feeding. After two months on hunger strike, he has become extremely weak. He is now extremely weak and emaciated. -
Ms. Zheng Lanrui Arrested Again After Being Bedridden for Seven Years
2010-09-04Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Lanrui was arrested in 2001 and beaten by several people. She was tortured so severely because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong that she was bedridden for more than seven years. On August 10th, 2010 police ransacked her home. They confiscated her money and personal belongings, then took her to Chengguan Police Station. She was later transferred to Zhengding County Detention Centre. -
610 Office in Baoding City Arrests Over Sixty Falun Gong Practitioners, Harasses Over One Hundred More
2010-09-04The 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong] in Baoding City, Hebei Province have recently escalated the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.Police have arrested and harassed Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale. The police officers broke into practitioners' homes. They kicked in the doors, pried opened the locks, and took away cash and private property. Over 60 practitioners were confirmed arrested. Most were imprisoned in a forced labour camp. Over 100 practitioners were harassed. Wang Heli is now demanding that each county hold its own brainwashing session. -
After 10 Years of Repeated Imprisonment and Crippling Torture, Mr. Bai Sanyuan Is Imprisoned Again
2010-09-03Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Bai Sanyuan has now been sentenced to six years in prison and was taken to Lanzhou Prison on July 12th, 2010. He has been on a protest hunger strike since the end of May. He was force-fed once a week with 500 ml of a mixture of corn porridge and powdered milk. More recently, he has been force-fed and given intravenous fluids daily. He passed out because of his extremely feeble condition on July 28th and it has been reported that he had leg convulsions while unconscious. His face is pale and he is as thin as a skeleton. He looks like a completely different person now than he did just a few months ago. Mr. Bai also suffers from muscular atrophy in the legs and lumbar disc herniation from his last imprisonment.
