Ms. Yang Chunxiang and her daughter went out to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on May 12th. When someone reported the pair's activities to the police, Ms. Yang and her daughter were arrested by Nancai village police along with officers from the Dongpuwa police station and the domestic security branch of Wuqing District, Tianjin City. Ms. Yang’s home was ransacked, her computer, printer, mobile phone, Falun Gong books, and other personal items were also confiscated. Ms. Yang and her daughter were released that night.

Shortly after that, the Domestic Security Office of the Wuqing District and Dongpuwa police station planned to arrest Ms. Yang Chunxiang again. Plainclothes officers and community guards monitored Ms. Yang and hung around the building in which she lives. Ms. Yang managed to leave the building to avoid being harassed.

On July 20th, when Li Yang was at her grandmother’s home, she was arrested. They said that Ms. Yang Chunxiang had to go to the police station before her daughter would be released.
