During the weekend of 19th and 20th of October 2002, a group of practitioners from different countries introduced Falun Dafa to the public in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. They also peacefully appealed in front of the Chinese Embassy against Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin’s visit to the USA that begins on Tuesday 22nd October.

On the rainy and chilly Saturday we brought the peaceful, traditional practice of Falun Dafa to the very centre of Prague in Wenceslav square. Many people stopped and quietly watched us practise the exercises and the meditation. Some of them approached us with questions. Some policemen came back many times to ask about our posters. Due to different interpretations of the Czech law we were asked to remove our banners from the ground. We found the solution and picked them up and held them in our hands. This way we attracted even more attention from passers-by. There were also some people who showed an interest in learning the exercises. We handed out many German and English leaflets to tourists. One elderly Chinese man came and asked us why we were there and after our explanation he smiled and said: “You are doing a good thing.”

Sunday turned to be a nice sunny day. We pinned pictures of victims of Jiang’s persecution to the wall opposite the Chinese Embassy; they provided a stark contrast with the calmness of the Falun Gong exercises. One local television crew came to interview us and shot some footage. They interviewed all of us and spent almost an hour with us. As an answer to their question of whether the protest could turn into violence, we said: “We always follow our principles – peace is always stronger than violence.” They left with a smile on their faces. We were trying to spread the goodness of Falun Dafa around us and reach the heart and minds of all the people.

In the coming week we will continue with peaceful protests which we hope will bring an end to the evil persecution in China.
