UK: Promoting Falun Dafa at a University Freshers Fair

Although it was not the start of term, a UK university held a Freshers Fair to promote the clubs and societies that are available at the university in 2003. Falun Dafa practitioners ran a stall at the university to tell people about the practice of Falun Dafa and the unlawful persecution that is happening in China. The university has a Friends of Falun Gong society and is soon to have a weekly Falun Gong exercise class. The day’s activities featured a demonstration of Falun Gong’s beautiful exercises, which were watched by many Western and Asian students.

The university has a high population of Chinese students who were both surprised and amazed as Falun Gong practitioners performed the gentle exercises. Jiang’s regime has told them that Falun Gong is banned throughout the world and has spread many lies about Dafa practitioners. The Chinese students were surprised to discover that practitioners are good people and that the Falun Gong exercises are very peaceful and beautiful. The practitioners’ t-shirts read “Truth, Compassion, Forbearance”, the principles of Falun Dafa, in both Chinese and English. A large number of Chinese students were more than happy to accept the VCDs and leaflets that expose the horror of the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Many western people were also keen to learn more about Falun Dafa.

The day was so successful that even members of the Chinese Students Society, who ran a stall directly opposite the Falun Gong stand, thoroughly read the Dafa materials given to them. After the activities there were many remarks on how peaceful the exercises looked. Many students were astonished at how something so peaceful could be persecuted so viciously.
