Harbin Drug Abstinence Labour Camp's Tortures Fail to Shake Falun Dafa Practitioners' Righteous Belief

The Harbin Drug Abstinence Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province has more than 600 Falun Gong practitioners being illegally detained there. Facing torture, these practitioners continue to have no fear, and are becoming more firm and mature in their understanding and belief.

There, police organize brainwashing groups, administered by former Dafa practitioners. [collaborators who renounced their belief or went astray due to severe pressure and torture] In these brainwashing sessions, typically a large group that can number over ten people assault and pressure one Dafa practitioner. They take turns brainwashing practitioners and force them to write a standard statement denouncing Falun Dafa. Sometimes they do not let practitioners sleep for days at a time. Practitioners are forced to stay in one room for long periods of time, to eat and go to the toilet in the same room, and to sit on a small uncomfortable stool, 9 inches high, for as long as 15 hours at a time. Practitioners' legs and feet often swell, and they are watched 24 hours a day.

Recently, in order to be released, some practitioners went on hunger strike. Bearing the pain of their hunger, they still clarified the true facts to the guards. However, instead of listening, the guard tied the practitioners to iron chairs and force-fed them. They left the feeding tubes inside the practitioners for several days, which caused bleeding from the nose and stomach.

The forced brainwashing session started with words, and then quickly turned into brutality. The guards pulled out lots of practitioners' hair, and beat and bruised the practitioners' eyes. When the practitioners resisted, the guards then held the practitioners' heads and legs and grabbed their hands to force them to write the standard statement denouncing Falun Dafa. After being forced to write this statement, some practitioners were very sad and cried out. However, the police laughed aloud and said, "These are happy tears."

Practitioners who were detained earlier suffered more torture. The police locked them inside iron cages and injected them with neurotoxic drugs causing them to become unconscious. The police were afraid of their crimes being exposed. Whenever inspectors came, the police would lock the small cells where Dafa practitioners were tortured, and hid the firm practitioners in a cold and dirty basement with two police officers watching each one. They constantly separated people who had been brainwashed from firm Dafa practitioners. However, practitioners found opportunities to send Falun Dafa articles to these broken people and encourage them to return back to Dafa. Many of those that had been brainwashed ended up writing solemn declarations [that all their former words against Dafa were under coercion and therefore null and void] in the labour camp. Many started practising again after being released from the camp. Some of the latter groups were sent back to the labour camp.

Even in the most difficult environment in the labour camp, Dafa practitioners persisted in protecting Falun Dafa. They memorized every one of Teacher's articles. It was difficult to obtain each article. The police often abruptly came in to search everything. The police held practitioners down to the ground, stripped off their clothes, and searched even the seams of their clothes. Practitioners sacrificed themselves repeatedly to protect Teachers' articles.

Practitioners here have been sentenced for one to three years. Firm practitioners who were detained earlier have been given extended sentences. However, even after experiencing various tortures, many true practitioners finally escaped this evil labour camp with righteous minds.
