Ms. Li Xiufeng began to practise Falun Gong in 1997. She suffered from cancer of the uterus prior to beginning the practice. Afterward, her spirit and health improved greatly, and she enjoyed a more harmonious relationship with her family.

On December 10th, 2010, Ms. Li and four other Tangshan City practitioners, Zhang Yalin, Jia Shuxiang, Liu Xiuyun, and Zheng Derong, were handing out leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Dongshuiyu Village, Yuhuzhai Township, Qianxi County. At three in the afternoon, policemen from Yuhuzhai Village stopped them and pulled the driver out of the car, took away her car keys and driver's licence, and sent all of them to Qianxi County public security department to be interrogated. At nine in the evening, policemen locked them up at the detention centre.

Ms. Li Xiufeng developed hypertension as a result of the persecution. On December 15th, half of her body became numb, and she was released after her family was coerced to pay a three thousand yuan1 “deposit.” The other four practitioners were transferred to another detention centre in Qianxi County. During her detention, the guards pulled Ms. Li's hair and photographed her against her will. Domestic security agent, Jia Zhensheng, and a policeman named Wei were amongst those who participated in the persecution of Ms. Li.

Soon after her release, Qianxi domestic security agent called to check on her and asked Ms. Li and her family to come to the Qianxi domestic security bureau. The agents attempted to detain Ms. Li. However, when they saw her face was still red from hypertension, they did not pressure her. Instead, they warned Ms. Li's husband that if he let her distribute more leaflets exposing the persecution, they would take him to jail too. Their threats caused great distress to the family.

On March 9th, 2011, Li Xiufeng's husband received a phone call from Qianxi Procuratorate office and asked Ms. Li to show up the next day. On March 10th, Ms. Li and her family went to the Procuratorate office, and Ms. Li was interrogated by investigator Cai Xiue. A few days later, on March 18th, Ms. Li suddenly had high blood pressure symptoms. She was taken to the emergency department and passed away on March 19th.

After the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Ms. Li was persecuted numerous times. At the end of 2000, Ms. Li went to Beijing to tell the truth about Falun Gong and how she benefited from it. Upon her return, she was arrested by police from Zhengzhuangzi police station, taken to Kaipingqu brainwashing centre for three days, and then detained for two nights in the basement of Kaiping public security department. Later she was detained at Tangshan First Detention Centre for more than seventy days.

In July 2004, policeman Hou Guangyi with several others from Zhengzhuangzi police station went to Ms Li's house to harass her. They tried to persuade her to give up the practice. Ms Li, however, did not cooperate and yelled: “Falun Gong is good.” Consequently, Hou Guangyi and others took her to Zhengzhuangzi police station, then transferred her to Kaiping forced labour camp for two years. She developed hypertension while at the camp. The officers did not want to be responsible for her poor health, so they released her at the end of 2004.

Ms Li's family also suffered greatly from her persecution, as they often lived in fear. This is one of the many examples of families of Falun Gong practitioners who endured the persecution.

At present, the other four practitioners are still being held at Qianxi detention centre. Jia Shuxiang was forced to wear torture instruments, shackles, and was force fed by Tian Guilu and Fu Jianjun. As a result, she has lost a lot of weight and her life is in danger. Liu Xiuyun's heart problem relapsed and had two episodes of a heart attack. Zheng Derong has been vomiting and is very weak. Officers at the Qianxi Procuratorate office are trying to come up with false charges against these practitioners. We hope that good people will lend their attention to this case.
