Ms. Zhu Quandi, 65, lived in Huanshan Village, Haidian District, Beijing City and had retired from the Beijing Aerospace Materials Institute. Before learning Falun Gong in 1993, she suffered from late stages of cirrhosis. Her doctor could not prescribe medicine for her. She was very thin and only weighed about 90 lbs. However, after she started to practise Falun Gong, she fully recovered in less than six months. She also gained about 45 pounds.

On February 19th, 2008, the Haidian District 610 Office1 and the Wenquan Police Station searched Ms. Zhu's home, confiscated Falun Gong materials, and sentenced her to forced labour. In the women's forced labour camp, she suffered liver cancer as a result of persecution and being forbidden to practise the Falun Gong exercises. On April 1st, 2009, she passed away in hospital.

Since the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong, the leaders of Institute 621 and Institute 304 of the China Aeronautics and Astronautics Department, as well as police from the Wenquan Township Police Station of Haidian District, actively persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. Many local practitioners were forced to become homeless, detained and some were even tortured to death.
