Mr. Lin Huiguo from Zhejiang Province Sentenced to Three-Year Prison Term--His Wife on the Verge of Death

The 610 Office¹ and police department of Wenling City, in Zhejiang Province repeatedly arrest and detain Falun Gong practitioners, ransack their homes and disturb the normal lives of practitioners and their families. Between May and October 2008, thirteen practitioners were arrested. Among them, two were sent to brainwashing centres and the rest were sent to the detention centre.

Since the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, for the purpose of helping the government learn the truth of Falun Gong, Mr. Lin Huiguo has gone to Beijing to appeal. He hoped the government would come to know that Falun Gong was good. However, he was detained in a brainwashing centre five times; once in 2000, twice in 2001, once in 2003, once in 2004 and once in 2007. In November 2007, Mr. Lin was detained for seven days.

In late May 2008, Mr. Lin Huiguo was arrested while he was posting "Falun Gong is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good" signs on utility poles in a village in Wenling City. He was detained at the Wenling Detention Centre. His wife was also arrested and taken to the Wenling Detention Centre. After being tortured for about a month, she had been badly injured both physically and mentally.

On November 14th, 2008, the Wenling Court tried Mr. Lin Huiguo, but the session ended quickly under the voice of justice. Several days later, Mr. Lin was secretly sentenced to a three-year prison term.

After being released from the detention centre, Mr. Lin Huiguo's wife was unable to do housework and had difficulty eating and sleeping. After learning of Mr. Lin's situation, she fainted. Her relatives took her to the People's Hospital in Wenling City. The doctor requested that she be transferred to the Hangzhou Hospital because she was on the verge of death. She is still hospitalized, and she has paid about 10,000 yuan² for medical treatment.

Currently, two other practitioners, Ms. Guo Jiaoe and Ms. Shi Guiming, are being detained in the Wenling Detention Centre.
