On August 31st, 2008, the Toronto Branch of the Tianti Bookstore was launched in the Luohu shopping centre in busy central Chinatown. The bookstore primarily carries Falun Dafa books, audio and video materials. It is the second bookstore to only carry Falun Dafa books since the first one was launched in New Jersey in April 2007.

Large posters in both Chinese and English were hung outside the windows of the bookstore. The large signboard with golden words on a blue background was eye-catching. The inside of the bookstore is sparsely decorated. Falun Dafa founder Master Li's series of books, audio and video materials in different languages are arranged on the bookshelves. Many people gathered inside and outside the bookstore to celebrate the grand opening.

Ms. Kerry, who used to work in a foreign-owned enterprise in China, was moved by the bookstore's opening. She said, "Before the CCP initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1997, bookstores and stalls carried Falun Gong books. In January 1996, Zhuan Falun was listed as one of the ten best sellers by Beijing Youth Daily."

"Once I went to a small book stall near a university to buy books. The stall owner was an old man who raised his grandson with the little income he made from selling books. When I paid him according to the price printed on the book, he returned some money to me. Seeing that I was reluctant to accept it, he said, 'I read the book Zhuan Falun though I am not a practitioner. I know this is a book that teaches people to be good. When one more person reads it and practises Falun Gong, there will be one more good person in the world. Thus I don't make money by selling Falun Gong books. I just sell the books for the exact cost I paid for them."
