Recent Cases of Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners by 610 Office in Shanwei City, Guangdong Province

1. Ms. Zhang Tieliu, in her 60's, lived in Shanwei City. After practising Falun Gong, she became healthy both physically and mentally. One day in April 2008, personnel from the Shanwei City 610 Office1 broke into Ms. Zhang's home. They ransacked her house without showing any legal documents and took away her Falun Gong book and an MP3 player. They sent Ms. Zhang to Sanshui Brainwashing Centre in Guangdong Province.

2. Mr. Ma Shizhong, in his 60's, is from Tianxin Village, Lian'an in Haifeng County of Shanwei City. After practising Falun Gong, he recovered from a fatal disease and became healthy. In 2001, Shanwei City 610 Office personnel sent him to the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp.

After being released, Mr. Ma did odd jobs in Guangdong to make a living. In March 2008, officers from the Shanwei 610 Office and the Chinese Communist Party arrested him and sent him to Sanshui Brainwashing Centre, claiming, "It is possible that he may go to appeal in Beijing."

3. Mr. Ye Xiaowei, in his 40's, is from Heyuan, Haifeng County of Shanwei City. On the morning of May 6th, 2008, Shanwei City 610 Office personnel, police officers, and personnel from the local residence committee went to Mr. Ye's store in Haowei Dress Shopping Centre in Haifeng County. Mr. Ye distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. However, they were rude and hostile. They confiscated books and Falun Gong materials found in Mr. Ye's store and arrested him. Mr. Ye was sent to Sanshui Brainwashing Centre.
