Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Haohong, 41 years old, is from Shagou Majia Village, Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province. She was self-employed. Ms. Wang has suffered a lot of illness since her childhood. She looked everywhere but had no luck curing her diseases. Because of such prolonged suffering, living seemed worse than death to her. However, after she started practising Falun Dafa, all her illnesses have disappeared. Falun Dafa gave her a new life.

In July 1999, Jiang Zemin [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] and the Chinese Communist Party started the brutal persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Ms. Wang Haohong was arrested by police officers from the Zhangxing Township Police Station on July 26th, 1999. She was beaten and verbally abused when she refused to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong. The former Deputy Chief of the police station, Sun Shixun, shocked Ms. Wang with a hand-cranked electric telephone generator. The shock was so great that she lost control of her bladder and wet herself. The chief of the police station, Wang Qide forced Ms. Wang to stand under the burning sun during the hottest time of the day. They also extorted 2,000 yuan1 from Ms. Wang's husband. On September 27th, Wang Haohong was arrested by the Zhangxing Township Police Station again and was taken to the Zhaoyuan City Detention Centre on September 28th, where she was detained for two weeks.

In December 1999, Ms. Wang Haohong went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. She was arrested and sent to a detention centre in Beijing where she was detained for over four months. In May 2000, less than one month after she was released, Ms. Wang was again arrested by the Zhangxing Township Police Station and was taken to the Zhaoyuan City Detention Centre where she was detained for more than four months.

On September 27th, 2000, Ms. Wang was arrested by the Zhangxing Township Police Station and detained for over ten days. She was released because she held a hunger strike to protest the unjust arrest.

On January 19th, 2001, Ms. Wang was taken to the police station when she went to her father's home to visit him. She managed to escape. Ms. Wang then went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested by police officers in Tienanmen Square and detained for over ten days. After she was released, she was frequently harassed by the police. As a result of the continual persecution, Ms. Wang was forced to leave home and has been in hiding ever since.

On June 23rd, 2001, Ms. Wang was reported to the police. A group of township government officials and police officers, led by the Zhangxing Township Government Head Zhuang Yaolin, Deputy Director of Zhangxing Township Zhang Yongmei and Chief of the Zhangxing Township Police Station Wang Qide, arrested Wang Haohong in Longkou City. Several people, including police officers. beat Ms. Wang mercilessly and shocked her with electric batons. On the same day, she was taken to the Zhaoyuan City Detention Centre. There she started a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The police handcuffed her and hung her up by her wrists until she was on the verge of death. Being afraid to take responsibility for her death, they asked the Zhangxing Police Station to take Ms. Wang home. The police took Ms. Wang to her father's home when they saw that she was in a critical condition. The township director assigned five people, two males and three females, along with the village security guards, to take turns monitoring Ms. Wang during the days and nights that followed.

On July 23rd, 2001, Wang Haohong escaped from the surveillance and left her father's home. She and her husband were in hiding since then to avoid further persecution.

For eight years, Ms. Wang Haohong was not able to return home. Her child had to live with her grandmother as it would have been too dangerous for her to live with her parents.

In September 2007, Wang Haohong went to Jining City. She was arrested by officers from the Jining City Nanxinzhuang Police Station on September 12th. She has been on a protest hunger strike for over one month since being detained at the Jining City East District Police Department.
