On the morning of September 24th, BAPS International Care held the WALK 2006 in front of Philadelphia City Hall. The theme of this event was "Building a Better Community One Step at a Time." Falun Gong practitioners were invited to perform the exercises and traditional lion dance.

The Falun Gong exercise demonstration attracted many spectators

When the practitioners were demonstrating the exercises, many spectators copied their movements. Mr. Feng, 74, was one of the performers. He said that he had come to the US half a year ago in a wheelchair because he had brain cancer. He later learned Falun Gong from his daughter and son-in-law and formally quit the Chinese Communist Party and all its affiliated organisations. He is now healthy and happy and practises Falun Gong every day with his wife. With a tradition of believing in Buddha and God over several thousand years, East Indian participants found it very easy to communicate with the Chinese practitioners from a cultural perspective. The event organiser said: "The Lion Dance and Falun Gong exercise demonstration are great! It is the first time for some Indians, especially children, to see traditional Chinese culture."
