Mr. Li Zhanbao from Changchun City Died Recently Due to Long-term Persecution

Mr. Li Zhanbao, 43, lived on Wuxing Village, Changchun City, Jilin Province. Mr. Li began to practise Falun Gong in October 1996. He used to suffer from anaemia and was diagnosed at several big hospitals at a late stage of an incurable illness. The doctors at the hospitals refused to treat him. A friend introduced him to Falun Gong. Not long afterwards, he miraculously attained good health.

Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Li was detained twice because he would not renounce the practice that saved his life. In December 2001, local police ransacked his home once more and detained him at Chaoyang Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City. He was incarcerated in the First Brigade of the forced labour camp when
the TV signal tapping incident took place in Changchun [in this incident, Falun Gong practitioners successfully tapped into the cable TV network and broadcast programming exposing the persecution and the lies of the CCP]. The persecution carried out by this brigade was especially vicious during this period, and Mr. Li suffered greatly.

When he was released one year later, his old illness recurred as a result of the ongoing persecution. However, local police officers continued to harass and threaten him and put him under long-term surveillance. Due to the physical and mental pressure, Mr. Li Zhanbao died on August 29th, 2006.

Ms. Zhang Simin from Wuhan Died Due to Long-term Persecution

Ms. Zhang Simin, 49, was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She began to practise Falun Gong in 1995 and all of her old illnesses were cured; she became very healthy. Ms. Zhang was detained twice around July 20th, 1999. The first time was at the beginning of the persecution, when she went to clarify the truth at the city government buildings. The second time, she was arrested and taken to a brainwashing centre by staff from the 610 Office1.

When Ms. Zhang was detained at the brainwashing centre, her husband (a non-practitioner) suffered deeply because of his wife's persecution. He passed away in 2001. Ms. Zhang was laid off many years ago and when she returned home after her husband died, she had no income and had to work as an hourly worker at odd jobs. The CCP still did not spare her. Staff from the local 610 Office frequently harassed and threatened her.

Under the long-term harassment and threats, Mr. Zhang's old illness recurred and worsened. She died on February 2nd, 2006.

Ms. Tan Xiangxing Was Persecuted to Death by Police and Staff From the 610 Office of Changsha

Ms. Tan Xiangxing, 60, was a former worker at Changsha County Telecommunications Bureau. She began to practise Falun Gong in 1998. All of her former illnesses, including high blood pressure, heart disease, rheumatism, Meniere's Disease and tracheitis, were cured, and she became healthy in body and mind.

On July 21st, 1999, Ms. Tan went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. She was arrested and taken back to her hometown where she was detained and constantly monitored. In October 2000, she went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong. Ms. Tan practised the Falun Gong exercises in Tiananmen Square and was arrested by the local police. She was beaten and detained for two days. Later, she was detained at Changsha First Detention Centre. Changsha County Court sentenced Ms. Tan to a three-year prison term.

During the first half of 2002, Tan Xiangxing was taken to Changsha Women's Prison. She was diagnosed with severe lung disease and the prison refused to take her. Changsha First Detention Centre detained her for another six months before releasing her on bail for medical treatment. Her family members were forced to pay 2,000 yuan2 and had to mortgage their home. Her husband used to be an officer with the Changsha Police Station. Because he practised Falun Dafa and cultivated Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, he was fired from his job, sentenced to forced labour, and lost his salary. Since October 2000, the police station has not paid him his salary.

Ms. Tan and her husband were constantly under surveillance. Staff from the local 610 Office, police officers, members of the resident committee, and staff from the county government harassed them at home. They were not allowed to visit other practitioners and were required to report to the 610 Office if other practitioners visited them. After seven years of mental and physical persecution, and after losing her livelihood, Ms. Tan passed away at the end of November 2005.

Mother of a Falun Dafa Practitioner from Pingdu Died from Persecution

On the afternoon of September 5th, 2002, five wicked individuals broke into the home of Mr. Sun Yanbin, a Falun Dafa practitioner. His mother Song Xiuzheng (also a practitioner) was doing some work outside their home. She was so frightened that she could not stand. Neighbours helped her get home. When Mr. Sun arrived at home, his mother could not talk anymore. She passed away at 3:37 a.m. on September 9th.
People said, "Such a good old person died because the police frightened her. The police officers don't catch real criminals but only try to control good people. The CCP should be eliminated."
