The beginning of September is also the beginning of spring in Australia. On Saturday, the 4th of September 2004, Falun Gong practitioners were invited to participate in a spring festival in San Maries, a town in the west Sydney area.

In the morning, practitioners went to San Maries, which was already immersed in a festival atmosphere, and took the opportunity to introduce Falun Gong to the locals. They used a desk to allow people to participate in calligraphy or sign the petition to help stop the persecution of those who practise Falun Gong. The five-sets of Falun Gong exercises were also displayed and leaflets containing information about Falun Gong were distributed.

At 12:00 pm, the parade started. When the practitioners group passed by, the parade announcer said, "These are Falun Gong practitioners. Their belief is 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance'."
