During the US Republican National Convention, Falun Gong practitioners held week-long anti-torture exhibitions in several places in New York City. In front of the exhibition on the edge of Central Park, streams of people passed by and many of them were shocked and signed a petition to condemn the persecution and seek international help to stop the terror from continuing in China.

"The Chinese government is afraid that people have freedom and fears the truth. I hope the persecution will be ended soon. The world is awakening. Wake up!" A middle-aged woman living in New York City who just learnt to practice the exercise from practitioners, said, "I feel great. I believe there is energy existing in the universe, and it is helpful to people. The persecution is terrible. It's a tragedy to the whole world. If the persecution is found out in one country, it may also occur in other countries."

Several practitioners flew to New York from Atlanta. One lady was nearly 70-yeas old who began practising Falun Gong six years ago and has benefited greatly from the practice. During the day, she re-enacted the torture methods used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in China. She said, "I can't speak English, I feel the anti-torture exhibit can attract people's attention, so I re-enact the tortures practitioners in China suffer, and try my best to let people know the truth." She and others took turns re-enacting "being locked up in a small cell" and the torture method called "Tiger Bench." For lunch and dinner she ate some cold food that she had brought from home. She had only one thought, to let people know about the persecution in China and to stop it. Two years ago before she came to the US, she was under surveillance 24 hours a day, and had no freedom at all.

A man from New York viewed the anti-torture exhibit and signed the petition, and said, "It is savage to use such torture and to forbid people to practice these exercises."
