On July 31, 2004, Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Hong from Harbin City was persecuted to death by Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province. The labour camp authorities demanded that Ms. Zhang's family cremate her body as soon as possible, but this demand was firmly refused. Ms. Zhang's family is now turning to the legal process with an appeal to investigate her death.

Ms. Zhang had been illegally sent to forced labour once before. On July 22, 2004, she was sent to forced labour again at Wanjia Forced Labour Camp, and by July 31, she had been persecuted to death. When her family saw her body, her eyes and mouth were wide open, she had lost almost 30-40 lbs, and her pants were soiled. The group directly responsible for Ms. Zhang's untimely death is Wanjia Forced Labour Camp.
On August 5, in order to deceive the public, the police replaced the plaque reading, "Camp Intensive Training Class" (in fact, it's a "torture chamber") where Ms. Zhang was detained with a sign saying "Clinic," and decorated the room with oxygen bottles and some other medical apparatus. Even the police at the Intensive Training Division looked quite uneasy, because they were afraid that others would find out the truth of what really takes place in that room.

Since Ms. Zhang Hong was sent to the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp, she had been detained in the "Intensive Training Division" (Division No. 13). The responsible policemen there include four male section heads: Wu Hongxun, Zhao Yuqing, Yao Fuchang and Li Xiaojie. The prisoners who have been ordered by the police to participate in the persecution of Ms. Zhang include: Zhang Guiyun, Chen Lingling, Sun Huijun, and others.
