The 2004 Scotland Car Tour reached the city of Inverness in its third day, which is one of the northern-most cities in Scotland. Practitioners went to visit local officials to tell them about the persecution of Falun Gong in China so that they can join the voices all over the world calling for an end to this enormous violation of human rights. The first visit was to the local police headquarters where they talked with officers about the personal experiences of two of the car tour members. One of them suffered torture and force-feeding whilst imprisoned in China and the other was arrested in France during a visit of Chinese officials because she wore a yellow Falun Gong scarf. The police officers showed concern about the persecution.

The practitioners then moved on to visit the Lord Provost of Inverness. They did not have an appointment so they turned up at the Provost’s office hoping to have the chance to speak with him. A man met them in reception and asked why they would like to see the Provost. They told him about the brutal campaign of genocide that is being waged against people who live their lives by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance in China. This man then revealed that he was the Lord Provost and offered his strong support. He was extremely concerned after hearing about the crimes against humanity being committed by Jiang Zemin and his regime. The Lord Provost was visibly moved when he heard the story of young mother Wang Lixuan and her 7-month-old baby who were murdered in a labour camp in 2000 because they practised Falun Gong. A medical examination revealed that Mrs Wang’s neck had been broken and her skull crushed. Her baby’s ankles were badly bruised, his head was dented and his nose was full of blood. The examiner said that the baby had been shackled and hung upside down. This innocent mother and baby are two of the countless families that have been destroyed in this persecution.

The practitioners moved on to the local council offices where they explained the facts about Falun Gong too a receptionist before meeting one of the councillors. The councillor was very supportive and offered to place some Falun Gong leaflets in places where the public have access to them. The practitioners moved on to the local library and spoke to them in detail about the persecution before leaving some leaflets there too. The day concluded with a radio station calling practitioners to arrange an interview.
