Family Torn Apart, Husband and Wife Suffering Torture, Child Alone At Home in Chengdu City

Ms. Fang Hui, a 39-year-old teacher in the Foreign Language Institute of Sichuan University, was unlawfully imprisoned in the First Detention Centre of Chengdu City in February 2002, for practising Falun Gong. Afterwards, she was sent to a brainwashing class in March and was released in August after going on hunger strike. On November 5th she was arrested once more and imprisoned in the First Detention Centre in Chengdu City, where she is today. Fang Hui is in critical condition and was sent to hospital because she is on a hunger strike to protest her illegal imprisonment.

Fang Hui's husband, Dr. Wang Haibo is a PhD graduate of Sichuan University's Institution of Maths and a Dafa practitioner. He was also arrested illegally on November 5th 2002, and is still imprisoned in the First Detention Centre in Chengdu City. The couple have a 10-year-old child at home, who is living without care. Their wages have been cut off, which includes the child's living expenses. This family is in a desperate situation.
