Since July 20, 1999, police in Yunfu City, Guangdong Province have detained Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Lai Zhenxian many times, ransacked his home, fined him and forced him to attend brainwashing sessions. They also searched Zhenxian's relatives' homes and threatened both his relatives and friends. In 2002, during a birthday party for his ailing father-in-law, more than twenty policemen barged in roughly to arrest Zhenxian and threatened to arrest whoever tried to hide him. Policemen Su Kunrong of Yunan County Police Station also announced an award of 15,000 Yuan* for anyone who reported his whereabouts. (The same policeman, Su Kunrong, has previously bribed people to provide information about Falun Dafa practitioners and has beaten practitioners multiple times.) Since that time, Zhenxian and his wife have been forced to stay away from their home and leave their young child in the care of their elderly parents. They do not have any source of income.

Just after the Spring Festival of 2003, Zhenxian was arrested again and was sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp. Now he and two other practitioners who were arrested with him are being detained in the Yunfu City Detention Centre. The police do not allow him to mail any letters, see his family and friends, or even to receive supplies to take care of his basic needs. He is suffering all kinds of torture there. It has been reported that he is currently on a hunger strike to protest his mistreatment.

The last name of the contact person responsible for practitioner Zhenxian is Lin. He is the head of the Yunfu City 610 Office. His cell phone number is 86-13826884338.
